Summary: This is a wonderful story of hope, love and determanation!
Review: Les Miserables is one of the best movies I've seen.It is on my top 10 list and after you review this movie it soon will be. The actors in this movie put a lot of hard work as you can see on the screen in their performences. They put their hearts and souls in becoming these characters. I have to say Geoffrey Rush did an outstanding job as Javert. He has been the only villian in which touched my heart, and made me reflect on his character. He deserves 5 stars. It's a movie you need to rent if you haven't seen it yet!So go rent it tonight!

Summary: Thoughtful, well done verson of the classic
Review: I am responding to Amazon.com's review of the movie, which I almost think you didn't watch. Fantine wasn't pregnant when Valjean took her in, her daughter was six. And it didn't end in teen-age angst--there were legitimate reasons for a loving daughter to finally insist on some explanation from her father. I missed the selfless Epononine myself, but felt that her absense in the film version was for the sake of clarity and length--she and her family are a complicated sub-plot, really. Instead the movie focused (brilliantly) on the relationships between Valjean, Javert, Cossette, and secondarily, Marius. While the musical version is a kind of trage-comedy, the movie version is dramatic, and as such interpretations of characters vary somewhat from the musical, and I thought this was done with insight and integrity. Also, the ommission of the Thenadiers makes this version suitable for wider audiences. The acting was superb, Geoffrey Rush is unmatchable.

Summary: Okay, but it's missing something.
Review: I saw this movie, and I thought it was okay, but it was lacking something. I think the musical explained more than the movie. I mean, Enjoras in the musical was , like, the leader. In the movie, he shrank back while Marius handled the revolution. And Eponine! Where was she? I didn't even see her! She's supposed to like Marius, but I didn't know who was her. She is my favorite character! And I didn't even see her! Somebody didn't even read half of Les Miserables. And I didn't know that Jean Valjean was supposed to fall in love with Fantine! I think he should have just liked her as a friend.

Summary: A Fresh New Look on Les Miserables
Review: One of the years best acting, the movie was good, also the story was too! But the acting was supurb. I think Liam Neeson and Claire Danes should get best actor and actress. The whole chemestry was excellent. For a minor consumptions of the movie, Les Miserables is a pretty darn good movie.

Summary: A Very Interesting Movie
Review: This movie is really good. I've watched it two times and still feel it's a cut above what other movies I've seen recently. Liam Neeson does another great performance like always. Claire Danes also plays her part very well. One of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the Best Movies I've Ever Seen
Review: Liam Neeson creates a great Jean Valjean, one haunted by his past yet all the while he radiates love towards Cosette. The inner struggles of Valjean are richly portrayed by Neeson, who truely deserved an Oscar. Also Uma Thurman's and Claire Danes'supportive roles add to this superb movie.

Summary: An outstanding movie.
Review: As a long time fan of Les Miserables my initial reaction to the movie was dissapointment at all that was had been omitted from the story. I did however enjoy the film and the presentation of the elements that were covered. I'm sure all the critics of this film would prefer a 12hr epic movie that explores every detail of Hugo's writing . The makers of this film did an outstanding job of isolating certain elements of the story and making them work in a hollywood movie. It is truly ignorant to sit down to a 2hr movie and expect the sum of 1400+pages of a novel to be represented. One of the things that made this movie great was that it did not try to be a novel or a musical but rather a film based on parts of one of the greatest stories ever. If you watch this movie for what it is (A Movie) and don't expect the novel you will love it. If this is your first exposure to Les Miserables you may love the film that much more and most likely want to pick up the book for the whole story.

Summary: Despite the reviews, I thought it was good
Review: Perhaps the fact that I have never read nor seen any previous productions of Les Miserables helped my appreciation for it but whatever the case I found it to be a very well done movie with some exceptional acting jobs. I've heard some say that it doesn't cover half what the book does but I would say to them, when can a movie ever truly stand up to a book? Ignore those who supposedly know better and see this one.

Summary: You can't cover it all
Review: I have read the book, seen the play and seen an older version of Les Mirerables. The Stage production by far conveys the total of emotion that Hugo writes. The problem with the book is that Hugo really is very long winded. This latest version of Les Mis, I thought, took the core of the novel ( the relationship of Javert and Val Jean) and treats it with great care. The rest of the story, the innkeeper, the revolutionaries are very important but can't be covered in the short time of a production release movie. I really enjoyed the film, the book, and the staged musical. All bring to life a great peice of literature. See the movie, see the play but by all means read the book you will really see the genius of Victor Hugo.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A lot missing but a beautiful movie none the less.
Review: Where is Coloniel Pontmercy, Epipone, Thenardier in the sewer,or as Marius' neighbor, the death of Valjean & what about the promenades in the park. There are several more points to be made from the book. However if you don't like books it is still a wonderful tearjerker. So much self sacrifice, the true meaning of love.
