Rating: Summary: BEST FAMILY MINISERIES Review: I first saw "Anne of Green Gables" when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I fell in love with it and also with its sequal. Every girl should watch it, because they can all relate to Anne Shirley some way or another. I'm 16 now, and I still enjoy watching it and I've read some of the books in the series. This is a joy for young and old to see.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: This is a Cinderalla like tale of a beautiful girl winning her way into the hearts of a small Canadian town at the turn of the century. It is my absolute favorite movie . . . whenever I hear the music I am transported to Anne's gorgeously decked out era. This is late Victorian melodrama at it's pinnacle. Everyone needs a dose of Anne's sweet optimism and madcap spunk from time to time . . . I recommend this movie highly.
Rating: Summary: Family Classic Review: Anne of Green Gables is a beautiful, inspering and touching classic story. The film is casted perfectly and stunning scenery throughout. This is a wonderful family movie that will be enjoyed by all ages. I can't help but think where our families and country would be today if there were more movies like this and less of the trash so abundant in our society.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Worthy of a Time Capsule Review: This lavish Kevin Sullivan production has withstood the test of time, thanks in no small part to the faithfulness of the screenplay to Lucy M. Montgomery's book(s) and the performances of its stars. Megan Follows was well-deserving of her Gemini award; she brings to Anne the same kind of wonderment and charisma that Judy Garland brought to Dorothy. No less astonishing is Colleen Dewhurst as Marilla. The two actresses share a chemistry that is utterly spectacular. Richard Farnsworth gives a subtle and affecting performance as Matthew and the rest of the cast is more than up to the challenge of supporting these stars. The best reason for owning this piece of masterwork is the message. Its portrayal of values is priceless because not one element of the dialogue is overwrought and the film takes care to present the hardships of life with an optimistic but unapologetic eye. Because of the strength and timeless values of its characters, this tale will appeal to anyone who is a "kindred spirit" or who wishes to become one. Young women looking for a powerful and inspirational role model will readily find one in Anne Shirley. Five Big Shooting Stars!
Rating: Summary: My children are now enjoying my well-worn videos! Review: I first watched the Anne of Green Gables series when it was presented on the Disney Channel several years ago. I was enthralled by its charm and home-spun appeal. I have tuned in to watch it every year since then whenever I see it advertised either on the Disney Channel or on the Canadian Broadcast Corporation television station. Each time I watch, I become enchanted by the time period and setting in which it takes place. The scenery of Prince Edward Island, the costumes, the storyline, and the actors all blend perfectly into a beautiful story. Even though I have watched it so many times, I never tire of the warm feeling I get when I enter Anne's world. My oldest daughter is now eleven years old and my son is eight. Both children became engrossed in the story when they happened to pass through the room while I was watching the first episode of Anne of Green Gables. From that moment on they were hooked and ended up watching both parts with me- a little each night before they go to bed. I was thrilled that they found it so entertaining, even though it contained no special effects. As a sixth grade English teacher, I have also recommended it to my students with the hope that they can enjoy its charm, even in today's skeptical world.

Rating: Summary: Excellent, Excellent Movie! Review: This is truely an excellent movie. This movie is exactly like the original book by L.M. Montgomery. I didn't know there was a movie of Anne of Green Gables. When I found out, I immeidiately got it. Megan Follows performs a captivating performance as the high spirited, imaginative, redheaded Anne Shirley (a.k.a carrots). My mom cried, I laughed, the dog barked and everything was just like it was in the extraordinary book. One of the best movies ever made.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE MEGAN FOLLOWS!! Review: Last summer I rented this movie because I was going to PEI for my vacation and wanted to see what i had in store for me.. well, i didn't know what this story would have in store for me either. I never read the books.. i tried to read the first one.. and was so eager to see pei that i skipped it and watched this movie instead. The scenery is breathtaking, the story is an enchanting melodic journey for everyone... it appeals to the masses.. i would recommend it to everyone. It is a great movie for a family as there is no bad language, sex, or violence. It is just a really good story with a lot of heart. I fell in love instantly with Megan Follows as Anne. She was born to play this role and she plays it so marvelously. She was Oscar worthy in my opinion. This is a real treat!!
Rating: Summary: Simply delightful!!! Review: This is one of my very favorite movies. And what makes it so great is how REAL Anne Shirley became to me. She's simply delightful -- don't miss her!!!
