Summary: If you don't know by now
Review: That I'm a huge fan of Janet and that anything that she is in I will rate it with five stars. Janet is just a talented human being and I love her to death. She's the best there is and this movie Poetic Justice is a really good movie to see. I don't have it in DVD but I do have it in VHS. Either way, it's a must see for all Janet fans new and old.

Summary: For pl. who let tragedy stand in the way of their happiness
Review: Justice evens out what could have been just another" tale from 'da hood" type of story.Justice, played by Janet Jackson has let untimely deaths of a few people close to her,get the best of her life.she works at a hair and nails salon where her co-workers and boss heckle her about getting out and enjoying life the way she used to.it doesn't harp too much on the deaths of her former lover, her mother and her granny, which I thought was good. Gets right to the plot-a sad poet meets another person with words in his heart: Lucky played by the late tupac shakur. Pac is a practical single father in a bad part of town who works as a postal worker but aspires to be a rapper. The meat of the movie is when Justice, her friend aisha, her man Chicago who works with Lucky make a postal "Run" to Oakland. That is the center of the movie with about 10 minutes of other scences in the begginging and the end. I loved this film.It just touchs your heart. It really does.

Summary: A decent debut for Janet, but.....
Review: Janet Jackson leaves a lot to be desired as an actress. She's come a long way from playing abused kid Penny on the TV series "Good Times", but that doesn't necessarily mean that she's gotten better since then. It's a good thing that she was surrounded by a stellar supporting cast because where Janet falters, Tupac Shakur, Regina King and Joe Torry take up the slack and make this film watchable. There are some humorous moments, but also some that were typical "hood" movie scenes and kind of played out. Although I wasn't impressed by Janet's portrayal of Justice, the angst-filled young poet/hairdresser, I think it was a decent start for her.

Summary: Respectable Debut
Review: Poetic Justice is a movie about a girl named Justice who has trouble finding herself and her place in the world after the death of a close one. She works at a salon and encounters a young man (played to Tupac Shakur) and sparks fly between them at first, but after a road trip they find love. Its a long movie and often can lose attention, but Janet is truly showing her ability to act. Its not the best but she shows a lot of potential, its a much better movie than her current movie role (which was also good) in the Nutty Proffessor II: Klumps. Give this movie a try, youll be surprised.

Summary: A Great Date Movie
Review: When I first thought of Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur in a movie I thought to myself "oh no they didn't!" But as I watched the movie I really enjoyed seeing Tupac tormenting Justice as his character Lucky. They didn't get along at first but ended up finding out that they shared the same views on life and violence. Although the movie ended on a not so great note I really enjoyed it and now it is one of my boyfriends and my favorite movie to watch.

Summary: Great flick!
Review: I really love this movie. Tupac gave a great performance as a postal worker with his daughter as his number one priority. He was willing to go through so much crap at work and with his child's mother just to take care of her. As for Janet, I think she did a terrific job portraying a young woman in mourning. This was a role that could've been overacted very easily. Some people said she wasn't "ghetto" enough. What is the definition of ghetto? How many times was she supposed to roll her neck or crack her gum to be taken seriously? The truth is, Janet could've stood on one foot and recited Shakespeare blindfolded and some people still would've hated her simply because she is a Jackson. That's silly. This is a good film.

Summary: the DVD version with director comments is great
Review: john singleton's comments on the dvd version are fantastic. he taped these comments in late 1999 and it's interesting to see how he reflects back on the film, his friendship with 2pac, janet jackson, and others. really interesting...we all miss you pac, you were a very talented actor. RIP tupac amaru shakur 1971-1996

Summary: John Singleton's Poetic Justice...
Review: John Singleton's Followup To "Boys In The Hood", Is Essentially A Self-Indulgent Mess About The Offbeat Love Assair Between A Self-Styled Poet (Janet Jackson) And A Troubled Young Man (The Late Tupac Shakur). Jackson's Inexpressive Performance Is Further Hampered By Her Innappropriate, Overdubbed Readings Of Maya Angeou's Poetry...Overall, "Poetic Justice" Plays Just Like The 1st Draft Of A Potentially Worthwile Screenplay...This Movie Could Have Been So Much More...Starring Janet Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Regina King, Maya Angelou...

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: good for the acting ensemble
Review: even though the film pales in comparrison to Singlton's previous effort, "Boyz in the Hood" the film is still entertaining mainly because of the performance of the four leads. Tupac Shakur, Regina King, Joe Torry, are all very good in splashy showy roles, while Jackson proves herself an actress in a charming performance in an understated role.
