Summary: What's coming off here?
Review: I never liked this movie, and it's not for the same reason that a lot of other people dislike it. People saw the previews to this movie back in '93 and saw Tupac's name and said, "Bet! Gang movie!" That's not what it was...but it wasn't a good movie either.The title of this movie is actually a play-on-words about Janet's character (she plays a poet named Justice). The plot is really all over the place. It ranges from Justice leaving college to become a hairdresser to her kicking ghetto flava to Lucky (Tupac Shakur), a postal worker she never liked in the first place. After a while Lucky invites Justice, her best friend Iesha (Regina King), and Iesha's man-of-the moment Chicago (Joe Torry) on an overnight delivery run. An overnight postal delivery run. That sounds like a great road trip, doesn't it? Chicago starts fighting (literally) with Iesha and Justice, which makes Lucky pull over and leave him stranded. When they finally reach the destination, Lucky is informed that tragedy strikes his family, and he ends up blaming Justice for it. I'm not gonna give this movie props just because it's a John Singleton movie. There were so many problems with it. First of all, why did Lucky blame Justice for his problems? Second, Justice seemed to be arguing with everyone in the movie, and none of the arguments had anything to do with anything (especially when she breaks up the fight between Iesha and Chicago). Speaking of that, a guy named Chicago? What was Singleton thinking? The most important question everyone should ask themselves is, Was Janet Jackson even convincing in her role as Justice? I sure don't think so, and neither does anyone else I know. In fact, I think this role may have killed her acting credibility for a while, because it was seven years between this film and her next real acting role for Nutty Professor II. In short, if Janet wants to keep a steady career, she should stay away from roles (and movies) like this.

Review: This is the one of the worst films I have ever seen, second only to "Showgirls". I cannot believe that it has averaged four stars! This was a waste of two hours of my life that I will never get back. Save your time and dont even rent it.

Review: I think that this film is brilliant. I love Janet and I was looking at my T.V guid when I saw Poetic Justice listed. I had wanted the D.V.D for a long time and then I watched it when it was on. Since I live ove in N.Ireland this is classed as a '15' and I loved every minute of it except for the first twenty minutes when it dragged on. It was a bit confusing at the start but I had to watch it 3 times to get the full story. I think theres room for 'POETIC JUSTICE II'

Review: What is the point of this film? To watch Janet Jackson wander about for 2 hours not really knowing what to do? Who invents this stuff? I only bothered to catch it because the soundtrack is actually great (if you're into good hip-hop), but as for the film...no way. No stars. And Tupac is nothing special either.

Review: Poetic Justice was one of my favorite movies. It was about a young poet that is very alone. She has no one in her life. Her family passed away and so did her loving boyfriend. Justice was devastated. To let her pain out she would write her poetry. Justice worked in a local Beauty Shop with friends. One day she had to go on a trip to Oakland for a hair fashion show. Her car broke down. she had to call her friend Iesha. Iesha comes in a mail truck with two other people her boyfriend Chicago and his friend Lucky. As Justice is walking to the truck she sees that the driver is the same person she dissed in the beauty shop the other day. So as they are on the road the first don't get along then the started talking and knowing each other. As their friends Chicago and Iesha breaks up they come more together. Justice never thought that she would have another man in her life. She actually liked the fact that she had some one to love. I really think that I can comprehend with this movie.

Summary: Surprisingly Good
Review: All I ever remember hearing about this movie when it came out is how bad it was overall, or how Janet and Tupac didn't act very well. Come to find out, they were wrong. This movie is very well made, and Janet and Tupac work wonderfully together. The film is very sad at parts, then can turn around and be "abrasive" because of the language and subject material -- but don't be mistaken, the movie more accurately depicts the people and places where the movie occurs because of this "abrasiveness." The poems that Justice (Janet) reads/writes throughout the film were all done by Maya Angelou, who makes a cameo in the movie too (I was sort of shocked to see her in it). Poetic Justice is a very good film, but be warned there is language, "sexual situations" (pretty mild though), and violence. If you like Jan. or Tupac, then you'll most likely really enjoy the film, and even if you don't have a thing for either, you will still be thoroughly entertained. It's a wonderful movie if you can handle the subjects involved.

Summary: No Justice for Janet....
Review: As a huge Janet Jackson fan, I would love to give this film a 5 star review but I can't. I'm giving it three stars simply because SHE is in it! John Singleton's movie "Boyz in the Hood" was much better and this one can't decide what it wants to be. The problem is in the story and in the direction and less with the actors. Janet gives a good performance in the movie, as does Tupac Shukar and Regina King. To me, it felt like Singleton sat down, wrote out some ideas and then just threw them all together. If you are a Janet fan, you'll want the dvd. Otherwise, I doubt you'll enjoy it.

Review: Poetic Justice is a great movie. It stars a beutiful young Janet Jackson. She tries to cope with the death of her boyfriend, who was shot at the drive-in movie theater while they were about to have sex. Everyday, Justice, writes a new poem. She meets Lucky, (Tupac Shakur) and at first, they dislike eachother, but when they stay together for a long while, they began to like eachother. No more until you see the movie!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Singleton's Women Roles Lacking
Review: Janet Jackson was the wrong choice for the lead in this film. Ms. Jackson was not believable as a "home girl". The other women characters in this film also did not come across well, because Singleton has yet to learn how to deal with them onscreen. The story rambled at times, and a few times, some plot points were not explained. Why did the male stylist in the beauty shop break down after receiving a phone call? The best actor in the whole film was the late Tupac Shakur, who had a natural ability onscreen. Otherwise, this is not Singleton's best effort.

Review: POETIC JUSTICE IS AN OUTSTANDINGLY BRILLIANT FILM BECAUSE OF ITS SUBTLETIES AND POETIC FLOW. THIS IS MY FAVORITE FILM WITH TUPAC BECAUSE I BELIEVE YOU SEE THE CLOSEST DEPICTION OF WHO HE REALLY WAS AS A PERSON, JUST LIKE IN HIS MUSIC. JUST PAY ATTENTION TO HIS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS. REGINA KING IS ALSO OUTSTANDING IN THIS FILM. AND I LOVE THE USE OF MAYA ANGELOU'S POETRY TO NARRATE THE STORY.
