Summary: una paradia de la violencia americana

Summary: Glorified violence : A masterpiece
Review: It's hard to begin describing this movie. I have just recovered from a 2 hour session of mesmerized viewing of this movie which leaves you no words for a complete description. And, I must say this is one powerhouse of an offbeat movie. Mickey and Malory play the part of a mass murderer duo. It is as if, their only pleasure in life is attained from killing other people. Tarantino does an excellent job of fusing the movie as it moves on, with scenes from Mickey and Malory's troubled childhood.

This is not a movie for the weak hearted, never. If you think you can survive the scenes played herein, to watch numbers which leave you gasping at times, go for it. Special credit goes to the selection of a wonderful soundtrack. haunting rendition of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's numbers which give life to the episodes, 80's and 90's music played with the fullest effect, I don't know how it could have been done better. The movie is not all about murder and violence, perhaps we should treat it more as an education in what we 'might' expect in America, we see glimpses of these every now and then - on televisions, the newpapers, what not. When a media reporter decides to shoot a live interview of Mickey who has now been jailed for an year, the prison inmates go haywire, ... I won't disclose the story, but, every moment can be treasured.
Go for it guys, but, .... you have been warned !

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: Along with "Fight Club", this is probably my all-time favorite movie. It is the most visual of films. It looks especially beautiful on DVD. A true work of art and a must-have DVD.

Summary: A real piece of garbage
Review: Anyone who says this movie is an artistic representation of society is warped, or else doesn't have a whole lot of upbringing. While this film was artistic, in the manner the film was manipulated and altered, not only to make the work more attractive to the eye, but to also to make certain points in the film evident, it is still a piece of garbage. Violence made with astronomical box office sales in mind. They succeeded.

Now, while I say that the movie is purely written to satisfy the American audience's lust for violence, I also like it; I was raised with bloodshed, rape and other forms of "entertainment" thrust upon me until I found it to be normal. So, in that respect, this film was entertaining.

May the Lord help us all.

Summary: Natural Born Quiche
Review: An overlong, criminally dull movie by Oliver Stone, a director not noted for his subtlety. Here, he tells the tale of a pair of murderers who become a national obsession before vanishing underground. A bit like Terrence Malick's 'Badlands', but with an iconic ending. Actually, it's a lot like 'Badlands', only - crucially - whereas 'Badlands' was a masterpiece, 'Natural Born Killers' isn't. Towards the end of 'Badlands', there's a short sequence in which policemen pose for a camera with a chained-up murdered played with otherworldly charm by Martin Sheen - 'Natural Born Killers' tries to be like this, but with a sledgehammer, for two hours. Stone assumes that, having made the cutting point that people find superficiality thrilling, and that the media reflects this, he doesn't need to actually make a film within which to store this nugget of information. And so there isn't one - what would have been effective as a commercial is stretched out to two hours, complete with oodles of superficially stylish cinematography - given that this is Oliver Stone, the irony is probably unintentional. It's like the poetry of Jim Morrison - stylishly delivered by a cultural icon, but not very profound at all. Everything else - story, acting, characterisation, is subservient to the style and 'message', and looking back after seeing at the cinema I found it hard to focus on anything that stood out during the two hours I had spent watching it. The ultra-violence and satirical tone make it particularly hard to say bad things about, as any potential critics can be easily dismissed as prudes, or people who just don't get it.

Summary: A Shocking Look At Our Culture
Review: While this movie has endured its share of flack, the more open-minded viewer will automatically realize that this movie's end result is not glorifying violence, but rather it tells the blunt message that our society feeds upon viloence. Where violence has come across as entertaining in most films, this keeps the violence true to the culture. By making an off-the-wall violent movie, Oliver Stone has hit home the direct message of what he was trying to say; "You, the consumer, are the reason why there are trashy shows on television." The movie takes apart consumer stupidity and media havoc. It clearly meant to show just how incredibly out of hand the blitz can get. We see shows today that idolize crime and the criminals that commit them, and under all of this is the festering wound that grows as the media becomes more and more chaotic. By using the film from the perspective of the killers, it shows the rest of the world just as completely numb to the surroundings as the criminals. The talk show host, the warden, the fans, they all are just as posessed by this hunger for recognition and fame. Because, in America, fame is the only recognition. The movie is so brutally honest, and so unflinchingly in-your-face that you will either love it, or hate it. But either way, you can't ignore it.

Summary: Good View of Society
Review: This is a good movie despite that bad review that dude gave it. This is a good reflection on society today. It just shows that we glorify killers and make them super stars. U should definitely rent this movie and maybe buy it.

Summary: Oh, So there is something worse than pornography...
Review: Spoof on the American Monster Media Machine? No way, man. "Natural Born Killers" is one of the worst rip-offs placed before the American movie going public. Oliver Stone did not create a public service announcement with this film. It made lots of money, so it is either a complete paradox or it is hipocrosy. The latter is more likely as paradox is too nice of a word. If Mr. Stone wanted us to "see the light", he could have done so using conventional weaponry, such as real acting and a real script.

Whatever happened to Woody Harrelson's career, anyway?
