Review: As a rule, I don't go for movies like this one. Heavy profanity and violence are major turn-offs for me.But SCARFACE is a riveting story in spite of these flaws. We follow the adventures of Tony Montana, a refugee from Cuba with a hefty criminal record, as he arrives in Miami. He's not there long before he evinces a desire to become the city's cocaine czar. He soon attains this goal through murder, intimidation, and resourcefulness. Not surprisingly, he makes the wrong enemies along the way and falls into a trap of his own making...I deducted one star because of: 1-excessive profanity; 2-that gory chainsaw murder scene; and 3-Tony's HORRIBLE hairstyle!My favorite characters were Tony's mother, a decent, hardworking, devoutly Catholic woman who is brokenhearted and infuriated by her son's decline into a sordid lifestyle; Manny, Tony's partner, a blustering braggart who's essentially a buffoon and an airhead; and Gina, Tony's sweet, innocent sister who is inextricably dragged into his dark world.I didn't have to read the credits to know Giorgio Moroder did the music for this movie! The score bears similarities to much of FLASHDANCE'S music.

Summary: Say Hello to The Bad Guy!!!
Review: AL Pacino one of the greatest actors of the 2oth century stars in the lead role of one of the greatest films of the 2oth century. Brian De Palmas Scarface has everything you would want in a gangster movie and more. Great attention to detail and a terrific supporting cast make this a must see film. Though not as a great film as its gangster counerpart THe GodFather, Scarface should have a spot as one of the best!

Summary: 5 for the movie 1 star for the dvd
Review: This is trully the best movie I have seen , thats includes the godfathers part I&II. Alfredo Pacino accent was so real,he sounds more cuban than I do. This movie was alittle too lng but it works... Pacino plays the accent well, sounds just like dominicans in New york, but he is right on with the curse words because not many immigrants speak english and its much easier to learn the slang that proper english. This movie paints a realistic picture of how a small time crook gets to the top and how the american dream can become so corrupt.The ending is a little far fetched but its a great way to go out. The dvd showed horible, for a movie this good it could have gotten at least a better dvd. I hope they make the dvd again so i can buy it. Best ...movie I ever saw ma'ng lol.

Summary: Best Gangster Movie
Review: This is one of my favorite movies ever and is the best gangster movie ever in my opinion. The picture quality on the DVD is pretty bad, but it still remains better than the VHS version. The picture often looks fuzzy and kind of pixelated, but is the best that you can get for it. The sound is good and works well with this movie. This movie is such a great movie and many people have copied this movie or parts of it. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is almost exactly like this movie and rightfully so. Many people find the movie to be sick and gory, but in truth, it really isn't that gory. Many people get mad because of a chainsaw scene, but you only see blood spray around. There is little sexual activity. The language in this movie is extreme. You will often hear the f word at least once in a scene and there is often much more than one. There is probably at least 200 times you hear a cuss word. There is a lot of sexual dialogue too. Even with all of this explicit material, this is such a wonderful movie. It has some very suspenseful moments with plot twists and some great action. The movie is Out Of Print(OOP) and the DVD is very nice. I happened to find a real one off of ebay and I am very pleased with it. The outtakes were alright with few funny moments. I liked the cast and crew bios, the making of Scarface feature, but the best of all, is being able to watch this movie. I really recommend that people buy this DVD, because DVDs will be the prime video format for at least ten more years probably. It is also a great film and even if you don't like the film, you can have a wonderful DVD in your collection, or you could sell it to someone. Get the movie and while you wave it in front of your friend, say "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!" *BOOM*

Summary: Great Movie, Terrible Picture Quality
Review: Scarface is an all-time classic, though certain aspects of the film appear a bit dated now. For example, we see the Tony Montana character played by Al Pacino grow addicted to cocaine. By today's standards, this may seem to be a belabored and trite plot device. It is important to remember, however, that many of us harbored throughout the early to mid 70's the illusion that cocaine was not addictive, so to many who saw the movie in 1983, this was a new look at the cocaine underworld. (Compare the Scarface treatment of cocaine trafficing with the more recently released Blow, where we know at the outset of the film more or less how it is going to end.)

Another aspect that seems a bit dated is the Hispanic gangster stereotype, as virtually all the film's Hispanic gangster characters (with the possible exception of Steven Bauer's Manny), seem somewhat one-dimensional. (Compare Scarface's treatment with some of the Hispanic characters in the more recently released Traffic. Traffic's treatment of Hispanic characters is more nuanced.)

These dated aspects, however, don't mean that Scarface is not a great film. Given the changes the Tony Montana character must go through during the course of the film, as his single-minded quest for the American Dream unravels, I would rate this as one of Al Pacino's greatest performances.

The DVD special features are a great feature in the DVD version.

Five stars for the movie itself and the extras.

The DVD quality, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. The quality is grainy, and the film does not appear to have been digitally remastered.

1 star for the DVD quality.

This is a movie crying out for a new, remastered version, especially as it is currently out of print.

Summary: Greatest Movie Ever
Review: This is the best movie i have ever seen. Their is alot of violence and coarse language in this, but it just adds to the realism of the movie. It follows the life of Tony Montana as he comes over to America to go to straight to the top of the drug game. He is a man that gets so greedy and kurupt with power and still wants more. Quite a long movie but every second kept me interested. If you are into gangsta/crime movies you should of seen this 100 times by now.

Summary: Of drugs and violence
Review: An astoundingly gifted Al Pacino had not been an established "star" very long when he took on the title role in this dark and gritty 1982 remake by director Brian DePalma of the 1932 film of the same time. In numerous subsequent televised bios of Pacino, it's been widely reported that his performance here is his favorite in what is undisputably a stellar career. But Pacino has good reason, despite what many critics decried at film's release to be excessive and gratuitious violence. As a Cuban immigrant escaping Castro's communist regime, Pacino lands in Miami Beach where he guns his way to the top of the lucrative international drug trade. As a drug lord who also happens to abuse the merchandise, Pacino gradually slips into that dark, drug-induced conclave from which return is hopeless. Its consequence extends beyond Pacino to destroy not only him but his best friend-turned business associate, his family and his wife. Of the latter, a then-relatively unknown and breathtakingly beautiful Michelle Pheiffer turns in a riveting performance as the woman kept by drug lords but earns her own salvation by seeing the cost of international drug smuggling and addiction. The film may well be the best performance in Pacino's magnificent body of work.
