Summary: the reviews at the top don't know what they're talking about
Review: Although I'm not exactly sure what the 'point' of the movie was, besides taking a look at the media in modern day society (which was put across rather well), the movie is great. It is pure adrenaline rushing entertainment. The best part about it is that it turns the tables on the all too common good vs. bad - we actually sympathise with the villains more than with society, the sign of a truly great film.

Summary: It seems to be the sign of a vapid culture...
Review: ...that nobody takes anything seriously. Whether they're other people's opinions or the financial exploitation of cruelty. I respect anyone who enjoyed this movie, and I'm sure that for them it was a sobering warning against young couples who go on killing sprees, TV journalists who take part in prison riots, and girls who seduce men at gunpoint. But, I feel like I should pretend to like it more than I do, just so you'll think it wasn't that good.

The changing film stocks make a resounding statement about society. But the red, neon messages projected onto the characters' faces that say things like "demon" and "too much TV" went right over my head! What was Mr. Stone trying to say here? Much too subtle for me.

Maybe if it had said, "Too many stupid movies"...?

Summary: A great movie about the 90's that is truthful.
Review: Now, i'm only 15 years old, but i know a good movie when i see one. Natural Born Killers may not be the most entertaining feel-good movie of all time, but you have to appriciate what point the director was trying to get across. His point was simply this; the media makes killers superstars.

Summary: It seems to be the sign of a great movie...
Review: ...when everyone either loves it or hates it. Look at all these reviews, nearly all are either 5 stars or 1 star, with very few in between. I thought this was a great movie, and disagree entirely with the horrible reputation it's gotten as glorifying violence. As so few people seem to notice, Oliver Stone constantly reminds us that this is a fictional story: the violence is exaggerated (especially in the opening diner scene and prison riot), the film stocks change every three seconds, we're bombarded with semi-subliminal messages (read the signs in the pharmacy), etc. How can anyone watch Mickey and Mallory drive through back-projected visual metaphors or stand still while "too much t.v." is projected on their bodies and think this is a realistic movie made simply for the sake of violence? It's much better than that. We're not supposed to identify with the characters or the events; the film is simply made to steer us to general conclusions about society and not about this particular story. The director's cut emphasizes this, and as Stone says himself, the censored version actually removes much of the humor and thusly muddles the movie's point. It's too bad Amazon doesn't sell laserdiscs anymore, because the boxed set of discs is even better than this one...either way, it's a must-have.

Summary: Thoroughly Boring and Hypocritical
Review: This is NOT an exaggeration: "Natural Born Killers" is the most boring movie I ever saw in my life. (I'm presuming what I saw wasn't a three-hour Nike ad.)

First of all, there is absolutely nothing here to engage one's brain or sympathies--every single character is repellent (except the patronizing stereotype of a Native American), and no ideas, thoughts, or even emotions are expressed. Just cliched, inept, seen-it-before, psychopathic aggression.

Second of all, it is impossible to get excited about a film that so insistently tries to force you to respond. Watching this was like baby-sitting a spoiled five-year-old who constantly tries to shock or impress you. Eventually you just become irritated by his clueless manipulativeness.

But the main reason I yawn at this thing is because it is such a sham. It's supposed to be a statement about/against violence, yet it is literally nothing but hour after hour of mediocre gunplay. The only pleasure I can imagine it giving anyone is a mindless desire to mimick its "protagonists." And, despite making violence its subject, it shows absolutely no understanding of the phenomenon, how it feels to commit it (which is a very complex sensation), or its effects upon its victims. The movie deals only with surface appearances. In this way, it is just another example of the sensationalistic media it pretends to satirize.

A good film is yet to be made about the celebrity of murderers, the cultural roots of violence, and the media's complicity in antisocial acts. But the author will have to know the difference between Ulrike Meinhof and Geraldo Rivera. And that apparently wasn't the case here.

Summary: PERFECT SUMMARY OF THE '90'S
Review: In the beginning of the Directors Cut, Oliver Stone states, "I wanted to make a film about the 1990's." This is what emerged. When you think of this decade, violence. Look on the news and in the paper, violence. As many of Stone's movies do, this sends a message. The gretuitous violence is there for a reason. A great story (by the great Quentin Tarantino) and a great cast. A classic Tarantino plot with colorful, dark characters. I must applaud Stones ability to make you thrust your hands in front of your eyes in fear, and then make you laugh with a character named Scagnetti. A must see with a great cast and an unrelenting message.

Summary: TOTAL CHUNNDER
Review: This is one of the worst films I have seen to date. It is one huge political statement by Oliver Stone. The cast were obviously hard up for cash, which is why they don't put much effort into there acting. Stone should have left this one to someone else, and Tarintino shouldn't have made such a fuss over Stone re-writing the script. Only watch this if you're really bored.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: This movie is wonderful. It has a message about the screwed up society we live in that turns killers into stars, has blood and interesting charitor interaction. Great acting. And also it has a great soundtrack to match.
