Summary: the generals daughter
Review: the generals daughter is a wonderful suspense thriller. One of the best titles I own on DVD. the plot takes unexpected twists and turn it keeps you guessing right up to the end, being a army family much of the military protocol touches home.

Summary: power can be a dangerous thing
Review: i'm an emotional and sensitive person. i love movies.

this movie reminded me of "A Soldier's Story" and "A Few Goodmen". Only this one has the element of the family.

i enjoyed the who-done-it, i like Travolta.

i was amazed to see how power can corrupt anybody to the point they forget love.

the idea to think that there will be justice is cool, and uncertain (but that's what movies are all about).

i enjoyed the ride.

Summary: Skip DVD of General's Daughter
Review: As a longtime laserdisc/DVD fan I was disappointed with the bonus material on "The General's Daughter". Director Simon West reads his stiff commentary off of cue cards and reveals little insight beyond what you'd expect to find in the publicity kit. Cinema fans might be interested in the deleted scenes, the ones that give the Travolta/Madeline Stowe characters greater depth and history are missed and the original ending is much much better than the Movie of the Week one they used in the film. Like "Disturbing Behavior", the deleted scenes are actually better than the junk they used. Not a good film, but the flat commentary by West make this one to miss if you are thinking of starting a DVD collection..

Summary: A disappointment in the end
Review: This movie started off very strong, and lost it somewhere in the middle. The directing, dialogue, soundtrack, and acting were all very good, but the story lost steam as the movie went on. It ended up a prectictable, ordinary movie.

Summary: This was a great film
Review: This movie would have you in suspence all the way. Everybody trying to get to the bottom of what happen to the general daughter ,and as the movie goes on it will have you in a daze. This movie is worth buying.

Summary: Not so general
Review: Generally you would not see gang rapes being shown in movies, but i think that sometimes to pull a viewer in you almost have to push their buttons by showing things they would not see (Saving Private Ryan) But also not cross the line into vulgar material. This movie came as close as I would care to see. Would I put ths in my collection By "No" means would I.

Summary: YIKES
Review: I just saw this movie. I was a bit leary at first (it was really late at night), but it kept me in such suspense that I couldn't possibly fall asleep! This movie lures you to the very end. Amazing work out of John Travolta (my fav.) He's so cool. :)

Summary: there are no 5 star generals
Review: i am not a huge fan of travolta but i really enjoyed him in this film. the pace is a little slow, but i found interesting and the characters solid. james wood and travolta were very entertaining. excellent sound gave the movie a interesting feel. the dvd comes with plenty of extras and i watched the film and then the commentary straight after. which i found very interesting. some good insights into the way the film was made. it is a good thriller and a interesting idea. the ending is a little weak but overall it is a good film. give it a watch.

Summary: Poor marketing projects the wrong image of a solid thriller.
Review: The stuffy, conservative title, that poster of Travolta in rigid army salute pose...all that serve to obscure the virtues of this above-average, at times truly gripping thriller.

Travolta excels in a tailor-made role, combining irreverence and aggressiveness with intensity. Leslie Stefanson is quite good in a challenging titular role, and Madeleine Stowe, despite a role that reeks of wallflower, bursts into life in the one major confrontation scene where she interrogates a queasy, chauvinistic witness in a steamy locker room. Director Simon West (who was responsible for the okay, critically blasted Con Air) keeps the pacing pretty tight throughout, and James Woods shines in an unorthodox supporting role -- when he faces off with Travolta in three separate scenes, it's a delight.

Contrived plotting and some overacting supporting players (the watchtower scene with the private who witnessed the murder, for example, is melodramatic to the point of being ridiculous, and Timothy Hutton falls uncharacteristically flat) are some of the negatives in this film. But well worth watching.

Summary: Great movie for him and her!
Review: My husband and I BOTH enjoyed "The General's Daughter" (quite unusual!). It was suspensful, exciting, romantic and a great story overall. The story line was intriguing and the outcomes unpredictable (for those of us who always know the ending before it starts!) An overall good movie.
