Summary: An incredible movie!
Review: This movie was absolutely phenomenal, and the person who selected the cast deserves recognition. Loosely based on Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, this modern retelling of the story is incredibly moving and well told. The music is perfect and compelling in every scene, and the cinematography is fabulous. If you have a spare couple of hours, invest them in viewing this wonderful film!

Summary: cheerleader breakdown
Review: this movie was an excellent example of the forces that burn and rumble beneath the shiny exterior. to see a girl change the way roseanne did was quite provoking. if your considered a deviant by yourself or others i think you would really like this movie. give it a try.

Summary: Nothing special
Review: This particular story could be turned into a breath-taking film with the right director. Too much is held back, and the film seemed all too typical. The director does not give a true, gritty, raw look into the troubled life this young girl led, and the story that unfolded. On the bright side, Vincent Karthieser is brilliant, and hes about the only one. Though there is nothing that makes this film stand out as great, it is entertaining, and will keep your attention.

Overall, its worth watching. A decent film I suppose. But it wont be one for the ages. It wont be one that will leave you "shocked" or "stunned". For a true gritty look into the troubled lives of adolesence with a slightly similar story...A movie that will really leave you stunned, watch 'Bully' instead.

Summary: The acting saves it
Review: This was a very uneven film filled with little tricks and touches that ultimately added nothing to its themes. That being said, however, Monica Keena and Vincent Kartheiser manage to bring some meaning to it. Although there are tons of the classic "pep rallys are bad" and "normal-looking people are the most screwed up" cliches, the scenes between the two of them achieve a kind of quiet grace. It tries to be a very tough movie, but it works best when it's the most sweet.

Summary: Narcotically Haunting...
Review: When I first heard about this being based on Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment I was fearful that it was going to be another half-hearted teen version of a classic. I am so glad I was wrong.

While Dostoyevsky made his point with words, Rob Schmidt did the same with the films imagery which truly was both narcotic and haunting. He would make you feel as if you were in some drug induced dream/nightmare. You felt as if you were trapped between Heaven and Hell, happiness and sorrow, love and loss.

As the story progresses you watch the ghosts of Rosanne (Monica Keena) slowly absorb her. She goes from this glowing image of beauty to a shadow of a human being. It's stark and disturbing. While Vincent (Vincent Kartheiser) the seemingly gloomy one, who loves her from the begining of the film is the sole voice of reason, hope, and beauty in her slowly cascading world of tragedies.

The film epitomizes the continious hopelessness that many today feel but refuse to acknowledge. Although, I think what the film does best is that it shows us these sadnesses while reinforcing us with the concepts that we can make anything happen if we want to badly enough. Good or bad, we are the only ones responsible for our fates.

Summary: What can I say? It's one of the better movies.
Review: While I have to agree with one of the previous reviewer's comment about the voiceover prior to each chapter and the title which ensues weird, but it a way it's quite refreshing in the style with which it was presented.

I just like the sub plot of what a pretty face will make people do... But you'll have to see the movie to find out. I rented this movie from the video store before I bought it.

Summary: What was so great about this movie?
Review: With the exception of Michael Ironside (who played a very despisable character, brilliantly), this movie was a disappoinment. I'll admit the plot was pretty recycled at times. I actually thought that the ending was going to have a twist to it. Hell no. It ended, cut and dry. Kind of boring at times, no real thriller here. For a little bit, it had the feel of the movie "Wild Things." Don't ask me why. File this under department "POS."
