Summary: Blood And Bullets but Excellent
Review: If you've ever wonder what someone looks like when they are blown apart by a rocket, this is a good dipiction. The movie itself is excellent, they kept very true to the actual events upon which the movie was based, however it is quite gory. Josh Hartnett was excellent in Pearl Harbor but he really tops himself in Black Hawk Down! Aside from the blood and guts, which to all men, the majority of your girlfriends and wives will not appreciate~some however don't mind~this movie is really worth seeing, to those who are not weak stomached of corse! Buy it, watch it, enjoy it!

Summary: Succeeded admirably
Review: This review is primarily in response to the review submitted by Mr. Richard Barszcz. The director of this movie was not trying to get a point across by including excessive blood and gore in his movie. The point of this film, like the book, was to relate what happened in Somalia in '93. The bloodshed, the horror, every terrible gut wrenching moment that we see in Black Hawk Down happened. The film does not intend to inflict pain; however, to tone down the violence and the sadness would not do justice to the event upon which the film is based.
For those who want to know whether to see this movie, I would recommend it only to those who can bear the bloodshed and sadness inherent in a movie about this particular historical event. If you are interested in the US military, or in modern military conflicts I highly recommend the movie.

Summary: History Lesson
Review: When the film ends, you should not feel that you were entertained. You should feel a sense of patriotism. You should feel compassion for our armed forces. I was in the Navy flying out of Peurto Rico patrolling the Carribean sea when this all happened. I wonder what I was doing on the day that our service men went through hell that you see in the film. I know whatever I did, I still went home that night and probably watched TV in our air conditioned room and woke up the next day and rode the bus into work. This film is a good history lesson for anybody that did not know what happened over there or had never heard of the operation. If you want to feel "entertained", go watch Star Wars or Lord of the Rings.

Summary: Black Hawk Down
Review: This was a touching movie on a subject that not a lot of people know about. This movie is a great war movie. It shows not only what happened to the Americans but also the Somalis. It also shows the brotherhood of the rangers and Delta Force. Everyone should go out and rent this great movie.

Summary: Rangers Lead The Way!!!!!
Review: This movie is the best war movie ever made. Not to put down Saving Private Ryan, but the fact that they had the courage to hold down a postion that would be hard for a regular guy. I would espeically give credit to the two Delta Snipers, Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon, and I'm glad they got the Medal Of Honor, they deserve it. With 1000 Somalis killed and only 18 of American Soldiers lives taken, it shows that American Forces are the elite soldiers of the World!!!!!

Summary: Heroism and Pure Combat!
Review: Black Hawk Down is one of the most powerful war movies of the last 20 years! Ridley Scott is unrelenting in his portrayal of Mark Bowden's riveting book of the same name. Though some of the movie's character portrayals are inconsistent with Bowden's detailed chronical of actual events, the film does an outstanding job depicting the noise, confusion and horror of close quarters infantry combat against a determined enemy. Politics aside, Black Hawk Down focuses on the fantastic heroism and fighting abilities of elite U.S. soldiers placed in the wrong place at the wrong time. The movie's realism grabbed me, shocked me and made me proud of being an American.

Summary: Achieves what it sets out to
Review: ...It sets out to narrate true events without resorting to the usual hollywood cliches. ...It does romanticize certain certain aspects, but this is to be expected. The script is tight, without extraneous information. The fates of the various soldiers are easy to follow. The audience is always aware of why things are happening, unlike many movies, where plotless action scenes are just loosely bound together in a movie. One complaint that I do have is that the DVD does no have a lot of extra features. I would have liked to see a featurette on the special effects utilized in the film, especially those concerning the helicopter crash. Also interesting would have been some extra information on the situation in Somalia, going over some of the political/military subtleties that influenced the American mission there. But oh well. The movie is still worth it. Before I conclude, I would like to mention the great cinematography in the film. It is crisp and realistic, and it seems as if the composition of every shot has been impeccably planned. In conclusion, a worthwhile film.

Summary: Great book, confusing movie.......
Review: I saw this film at an advance screening and found myself confused at who was who, who died, who survived, etc... FACT: Ridley Scott is not and has never been a good action director. He has a nice, slick, Hollywood style, but he cannot direct action scenes very well. The battles come off as just random acts of violence with choppy editing and confusing characters that all look alike... Black Hawk Down is overproduced and lacks any heart at all... PS: Black Hawk Down- I will give credit where it's due and there are some cool shots of the choppers coming into to city before the assault...

Summary: Good movie
Review: I really enjoyed this movie, the action sequences (which are basically the entire movie) were very tense and entertaining. But as most other reviewers have mentioned, the gore is quite abundant. I mean, I can handle watching a guy pick up his hand and put it in a pocket in his pants (barely), or even watching half of a man die a sickeningly painful death, but the scene in which two men reach inside a soldier's leg to do surgery without even wearing gloves and the camera zoomed in utterly disgusted me. It's just a movie, but I feel they crossed the line with that one scene. I guess that's the way it is sometimes, but damn man, not everyone likes that stuff. But this is still an excellent war movie, and that's all it is, a war movie. Don't expect great plot or character development, but don't expect not to be entertained. For mature audiences only, and not all mature audiences.

Summary: Great!
Review: This DVD is excellent. The sound is supreme, the acting is excellent, the action is nonstop and the story line is true. Great movie. In fact, there isn't a slow part in the whole movie.
I love America and the people who put their lives in harms way each and every day so that we may have our freedoms.
