Summary: A well written hilarious movie
Review: Heartbreak ridge was something I didn't want to watch. I had no idea how funny and interesting this movie actually is. Clint Eastwood with his raspy insults is awesome. Mario Van Peebles is a wanna-be rockstar who is terrific at being funny in this movie. The acting in this movie is well done and it is easy to identify with all of the characters. See this movie

Summary: Pvt. Gomer Pyle started it all...
Review: As one of the previous reviewers noted, U.S. Army Rangers were the ones who really carried out the mission in Grenada. In fact, I had heard at the time that the script was originally written with the Rangers in the starring role, but the U.S. Army turned down the endorsement because of the inaccuracies of the script. It was then picked up by the Marine Corps who provided the weapons, etc. I don't mean to slander the Marines, who are very effective in the tactical expertise that they have,but the idea of a bunch of slack-jawed,...recruits undertaking basic training, and who are then deployed in a high profile hostage rescue situation, no matter what branch of service, is about as accurate as John Wayne jumping out of a cargo plane in the "Green Berets" without his static line hooked up. Crash and Burn! Thankfully in the end, one finally catches a glimpse of the true spirit of the disciplined, well-trained troopers who have been the executers of this nation's policies during this conflict and others. Despite Clint's excellent and grizzled portrayel of a true warhorse, this film is yet another half-assed, Hollywood injustice to the soldiers who have shed blood during their duty to our country.

Review: I saw this movie when it came out in '86 and I was impressed from the beginning. I've always been a fan of Clint, but this is to me one of his best. I've been looking for this dvd for soem time now and [heck] yeah I'm ordering it !!

Summary: Among Clint Eastwood's best!
Review: In Heartbreak Ridge, Clint Eastwood brings the story of whipping a group of slacker marines into shape to life. Although Clint still packs plenty of great one-liners (which are hilarious), his character shows many other sides as well. The other characters are also very colorful, and display a great transition toward the end of the movie. A must-see for Clint fans as well as anybody else.

Summary: Great Movie, but most wont appreciate it
Review: This movie is kinda like an inside joke. If you weren't in the Marine Corps you will probably miss the "funny parts". Clint Eastwood does a great job portraying one of those Motivator, Hard Charger types. The Lieutenant is another great stereotyped character. He's got that nerdy, book-smart character perfected. Overall, the characters are developed and believable. The so called training exercises and tactics are all wrong but I can forgive that sort of thing in a low budget movie. Overall, the plot is weak but compensated by the strengh of the characters. Marines will like it, everybody else might not.

Review: Let me start off with a plea. PUT THIS ON DVD! PLEASE! Eastwood fans will buy it!As another reviewer said, this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It's classic Clint Eastwood type of humor: dry, sarcastic, straight-faced, etc. The language is pretty bad and does not add anything to this movie except for the fact that maybe dirty language is pretty common with those in the military in general and, therefore, the movie is a more realistic. Clint has so many one-liners that are hilarious that you can watch this movie many times, especially if you are a true Clint Eastwood fan. I know I've seen this probably 25-30 times, if not more. Except for the language, this is HIGHLY recommended for Eastwood fans!

Summary: Smoother than a prom queen's thighs...
Review: Yeah, this is a film of completely over-the-top machismo and macho BS ("We've chewed a lot of the same dirt together, soldier.", "Smoother than a prom queen's thighs!"), but I love it anyway. It's the classic drill-sergeant-takes-over-motley-band-of-recruits plot, but Eastwood does it with a style and machismo that is almost an art form. The one-liners are great and still make me smile after seeing it a million times. In fact, I could probably list a dozen of them here, but I won't ;-) Suspend your disbelief and your feminist/PC leanings and get lost in the simplicity of Macho Zen.
