Rating: Summary: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RELEASE THIS ON DVD! Review: My father was in WWII in the European front and was wounded while riding on top of a Sherman tank that was hit by an 88. The only reason that he is alive today is because the German gun crew miscalculated the shot and the shell skip on the ground before hitting the tank, thus decreasing the velocity enough for the soldiers on top to survive. Now some nearly 60 years later I sat with my father in our living room and watched Band of Brothers together back when it was originally aired, and I watched the emotions in my father as he laughed, cried, described equiptment and formations, and shared stories of his own to me. My father probably will not be around much longer, could you please convince the studio to produce this mini-series on DVD? It is one of the most special moments I have with my father and I would like to teach my children more about him and what he did in Europe when they become older. Thank you for allowing me to share some of my feelings.
Rating: Summary: I believe Band of Brothers should be released on DVD Review: I watched every episode of Band of Brothers. It seemed that every night that it came on, my family would stop everything they were doing to get comfortable and watch this mini-series. I believe Spielberg and Hanks did an excellent job in protraying the lifes of soldiers who fought bravely for our country in WW2. This series was very well done, giving the viewer a feel of what it was like fighting in the 506th parachute regiment (often called 'Easy Company'). Also the series shows a loving bond between fellow soldiers fighting for not only their country but for that man next to them in the trenches. Once again I believed Band of Brothers is the best miniseries I have ever viewed. My hats off the all that were involved in making such a spectacular series. And please if you release it on DVD you definately have more than just me buying it.
Rating: Summary: A better understanding... Review: Well to begin with I'm currently living in China and I had seen this movie in a video store (pirated version). I wasn't exactly sure what it was that I was buying at first, but when I started watching it, I began to realize it's importance to me. I was nowhere to being born at the time these events took place, but my grandfather was there. He was a paratrooper in the Canadian Airborne Regiment back in WW2 and as I was growing up I would ask him about what had taken place. He would never tell me, however the look in his eyes told me that he had been through more than most men these days. Like many others during that time which really isn't that long ago if you think about it. Watching the movie though gave me a better understanding of what my grandfather had truely gone through. Even though B.O.B. is based on U.S. accounts of the war, let us not forget those who also had a part in it. I'll be waiting for this to come out on DVD. Thanks Grandpa and to all the others out there!
Rating: Summary: Please release the DVD!!! Review: This is a masterfully produced epic with no equal on the small OR big screen. The score is inspiring, the action is breathtaking. This series makes me proud and ashamed at the same time. I am proud because I can point to these noble heroes as my ancestors. Yet, part of me wonders if similar circumstances today would reveal the same idealism, self-sacrifice, and honor in the young Americans of today. Perhaps there would be a few, but I wonder how many? As one of those young Americans (I am now 30), this uncertainty, this hesitation is my shame.I will stop short of saying that this series gave me a feeling of what it was like to be in that great conflict, but I will admit that there were times when I couldn't breath, when I could feel my heartbeat in my fingertips. I guess that's close enough for TV. Congratulations to all those involved in this work. And thank you. Thank you also to the men of the 101st, and to all the other men and women who fought so bravely, sacrificed so willingly, and endured so heroically. I hear the DVD will be released this fall. Looks like my Xmas shopping is already done.
Rating: Summary: What I heard about it is absolutely true!! Review: I'm not specially fan of the WWII, but this series really has impacted me. The characters seems so near to you, that you really feel what they feel. The ambient is so intense, so well recreated, that you really could think that you are there with them. I'm not specially fan of the WWII, but I can assure you a thing: you'll enjoy this!
Rating: Summary: The Best Movie Ever Made Review: I have seen this movie and it was fantastic. This by far is the best movie ever made. It by far is the best WAR movie ever made.
Rating: Summary: Execellent Review: When i first heard about this movie (minie series) i did not watch it becasuse did not sound all that great. My dad taped it for me and I watched it. It was the best thing I have ever seen in my entier life. Now I am reading the book and it just keeps getting better. This story goes back into world war two. About the 101st air bourne from Normandy to Hitler's eagles nest. There are not many known actors in this mine series except the guy from friends.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful!! Review: I have watched Band of Brothers on HBO. I didnt miss one minute of this 10 hour mini-series. Since HBO is replaying it I am again watching it. This is such a great movie directing, acting, all of it was great. The movie almost makes you think you are right there in the front lines. You feel with the characters, you worry about them, as if you are apart of them. This movie teaches so much more then what history books have written. It is touching. I hope that HBO releases it on video/dvd soon, not just for my viewing enjoyment on a tragic story, but so from timeto time I can re-watch it with my daughter when she gets old enough to really show her how WWII was, and not just what the history books tell. I just dont want it to become lost in HBO's mini-series vault, this movie is to valuable and helps keep the memory of those who died alive.
Rating: Summary: Do not miss this............ Review: By far, the most worthwhile 10 hours of television ever produced!! The casting could not have been more perfect!! By the 5th episode, it was easy to put the right veteran with the actor portraying him (even without the benefit of their names). I would definately recommend this miniseries highly!! My personal favorite was episode 7 "The Breaking Point". Donnie Wahlberg did an amazing job throughout the series but this was his 'shining moment'. There should be no doubt after watching this show and in particular this episode that the man is a talented actor!!! From the articles I have read on C. Carwood Lipton (the veteran he played)he could not have been more pleased with Wahlberg's performance. Rick Gomez's portrayal of George Luz and Frank John Hughes' performance as Bill Guarnere were terrific...
Rating: Summary: Perfect! Review: This is simply the best WWII production that I have ever seen.
