Rating: Summary: Simply the Best Review: This was not only the best production about war that has ever been done, but I challenge anyone to name a better production of any kind that has ever been done for television. The story is incredible, the performances superb, the production outstanding, and the interviews with survivors of Easy Company at the beginning of every episode, and then the entire program devoted to interviews with them were especially poignant. Can't wait till this comes out on DVD--this is one that everyone should see and that deserves to be watched over and over.
Rating: Summary: Band of Brothers... Review: I can't say i've seen much on the 101st Airborne, and with such serious historical truth to World War II, and with such a great group of actors. Band of Brothers was truly an amazing piece of history, that is exhilarting and heroic, shows the realistic horrors of war and shows the bonding between men who soon lose their closest friends to enemy fire. All in all, it still manages to be an intersting show, actually an amazing one, and should not be overlooked. If you missed in on HBO, you better hope, like I am, that is comes out on DVD, because it really was a show of epic proportions.
Rating: Summary: A different point of view from war, the best miniseries ever Review: Words are not enough to describe the excellent direction from Spielberg and Hanks; they capture in a very human way what was the war from inside, not from the point of view from the winners or losers but from a very objective point of view. The photography is amazing, the visual effects are just as real as the feelings the actors transmit. This is a definitely must have video, I hope for the dvd to come out really soon.
Rating: Summary: The Cost of Freedom Review: I never knew him. He was dead before I was born in 1947. My cousin the 2nd Lieutenant landed on Omaha Beach 12 days after the big invasion began, but I know he had rough going for the month and a half that he lived after that. My family never said much about him (I guess it was too painful), and the only thing I ever found out from the times I did impose my boyish curiousity on them was that he was killed by 88's leading an advance.Band of Brother's is a classic of the highest order that may more appropriately be described as a documentary of the highest order. There is an honesty to the characterizations, that when coupled to the vivid realism of the events, conveys onto the senses what must have been the reality of that war for those who were in it. It should also not be lost on the viewer that Spielberg and Hanks have been able to personify the moral character of our nation, through the lives of those men of their time, as they confronted the Nazi peril that was threatening to annihilate the free world. There is a true sense of the desperation and determination that was brought to the battle, against a foe that was unwilling to be defeated. This series honestly honors the highest tradtions of those who served our nation against tyranny with all that could ever be ask of them to give.
Rating: Summary: A Very Well Filmed, Scored and Edited Mini-Series Review: NOT that the mini-series are without flaws, and people who are simply looking for combat actions may be slightly disappointed as such scenes occupy only a small though significant portion of the whole production. Nonetheless, assuming the producers / directors had wanted to convey the hardship, danger and survival issues faced daily by (these) frontline soldiers, and the sacrifices they made in the battlefields out of a sense of responsibility to their comrades and looking out for each other, and even perhaps to remind all of us (especially people born after WWII) that the peace we have enjoyed to date had not been won without cost (a direct tribute to Easy Company 506 Regiment 101st Airborne Division and indirectly to WWII Allied soldiers at large), the mini-series were a success. Overall, the series are well filmed, the musical scores are fantastic and match the 'mood / theme' of the series nicely, and the scenes are generally well edited, and the series would be best viewed 'attentively' and in detail.
Rating: Summary: Band of Brothers Review: I dont no about you but I loved this series on WWII. It was so dirmatic I was so impressed by the acting and the specal effects. It really inspired me to study more on the war and what really happend to different soldiers and there achmevements during the war
Rating: Summary: It should be 6 stars Review: Only those who have seen this suburb achievement would understand that it is no exageration to say it is the best of its kind. We watched every episode with our children, ages 9 and 12, and though B.O.B. is of a mature nature, both my wife and I felt that the message was one we wanted our children to learn. I can think of no other work on film or television that is of the same stature, with the possible exception of Shindlers List. But Hanks and Speilberg had over ten hours to tell their story and they used each minute wisely. See it for the art of movie making, see it for the history, see it as a tribute to those who have sacrificed for our country.
Rating: Summary: An awesome story Review: Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks really did it right, bringing the horror and humanity of war to the screen. I strongly recommend reading the book to get the background.
Rating: Summary: Band of brothers Review: This the best world war II movie ever made. It is one you can watch over and over and see something you missed the first time. I hated to see it end, you felt like you was part of those guys. You can have alot of respect for the men of Easy Company 101st Airborn Div, and the great job they did, and all the men who fought for our freedom.
