Summary: One of the 2 best movies of the 80-s...
Review: The best performance of Kurt Russel ever, maybe the best of Michelle, fantastic Raul Julia and always correct J.T. Walsh.

It is definetely not the best performance of Mel but alltogether under the guidance of Thom Mount and Bob Towne these people made a magical job - they made a movie where every bit, every second and every frame is a masterpiece (well - certainly there were more people involved).

One need to see it several times to discard its "detective" tag - it is definetely not a detective. Than what is it? Just see it and answer yourself...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Steamy and suspenseful
Review: The love scene in Tequila Sunrise is the most erotic in all of Hollywood. There is barely any nudity and just the suggestion of smut. But, the fast/slow motion, sexy sax, and excellent cinematography make the whole movie a joy. The plot is great and the acting is phenominal.

Summary: LOVED it
Review: The only reason I didn't give this movie 5 stars was because it was a little confusing at times, and I didn't like it that our heroine had an affair with both Kurt and Mel. My preference was Mel all the way!! I think Michelle & Mel should star in another drama-romance soon!! Why is it that beautiful women are wasted in so many dumb movies? (I hated "To Gillian on her 37th Birthday", barely tolerated the one with George Clooney - it needed a STORY & a more believable plot; hated her stringy look in the movie with Pacino, etc) Michelle needs another Mel-Michelle movie to take the bad tastes away. I loved Mel's smouldering looks and vulnerability towards her. What can I say? I loved the movie - Julia was wonderful as the smarmy bad guy & the by the end of the movie I wanted to shoot J.T. Walsh myself!

Summary: Mel Gibson -vs- Kurt Russell
Review: This is a unique movie that somehow manges to work, Mel Gibson who at the time had just come off the 1st "Lethal Weapon" tried to do somthing different & did, In tis he is Dale McKussic, a drug dealer in what appears to be Malibu or Santa Monica, that just can't seem to get out of the business, Kurt Russell is his old High School pal who is now the head of Narcotics for L.A. county, that for personal reasons doesn't want to bust McKussic, but is pressured by the DEA led by J.T. Walsh, it is apparent that Walsh & Russell can't stand each other, Michelle Pfreiffer only complicates things by being a resturaunt owner that Gibson has a thing for, sensing that she might know somthing Russell attempts to get to know her better, they begin a courtship & what follows is a love-triangle, with Gibson winning out in the end, Carlos (Raul Julia) is Gibson's supplier that is coming to town, unbeknownst to Russell & Walsh, he is a also a DEA special agent, Robert Towne wrote & directed this complicated story, but somehow he makes it work, especially with his three leads, as Russell & Gibson face-off, with Russell in a constant battle of loyalty to his job or friend, Prfeffer in a constant battle over who she like more, Gibson or Russell, & Gibson's constant struggle with loyalty to Carlos or Russell, just your typical Santa Monica beach story, that somehow mangages to work, one of the best movies from the 80's.

Summary: ALL I CAN SAY IS == WOW! What a GREAT movie!!!
Review: This movie is my favorite. I enjoyed seeing all 4 main stars act together. I loved Pfeiffer starring in a movie with both Gibson and Russell and thought the sex scene between Pfeiffer and Gibson was REALLY wonderful. A great film!

Summary: Big boost for hot tub sales, I'd reckon.
Review: This slick, modern neo-noir from "Chinatown" screenwriter Robert Towne makes up for its shortcomings with a charismatic cast. Using the well-worn "noir love triangle" formula, "Tequila Sunrise" is sort of a modern take on "Out Of The Past" or "Strange Love Of Martha Ivers". Kurt Russell and Mel Gibson are convincing as old pals who end up on opposite sides of the law, and Michelle Pfeiffer is a perfect choice for a "love interest" (duh!). One sticking point...Gibson as a coke dealer. He just doesn't seem "oily" enough. It is Russell who actually exudes the properly shady "noirish" vibe, even though he's the "law". On the plus side, this IS Robert Towne, so there is some very well written, mature dialogue for the actors to chew on. However, some unexplained jumps in the narrative raises speculation about a "director's cut" someday. Excellent support from J.T. Walsh and particularly from Raul Julia, who absolutely nails his character, projecting more depth in much less screen time than fellow cast members. By the way, the much discussed "hot tub" sequence screams "body doubles!" to this viewer--watch it closely (like you need encouragement!)

Summary: Painfully Ecstatic
Review: Whomever you are after (Mel, Pfeiffer, Russell, or so forth), this movie would make you crave to hug that person. You'd be best off, however, if you are after Mel, because of the ending. His face, hurt in love, will be in your dream forever.
