Summary: Terrific History
Review: -Interface fine for me... scene selection on with DVD player goes from film short to film short. -Quality very good on my DVD player... some old films are contrasty or muddy but all of them are beautiful visually. Speed was right and resolution was high... good detail etc. -Music was nice. -Subjects varried but all were terrific examples of period film. Some were slow "erotic" vignets and others were "hardcore" shorts featuring every manner of straight and bi group activity. Only violence was some clearly not painfull swatting of bottoms etc. in a couple of the films. -Body types were naturallistic and attractive. -Value as a sampling of historic film is terrific... only wish there were more and that the OTHER CDs in the collection did not feature violence as they apparently do. -OVERALL: great record of film history.

Review: A delightful 'bolero of the senses' quite expertly constructed - starting with 'innocents' doing their washing ending with rather a surprise twist on 'menage' - yes, it's all there in it's rather quaint glory. Curious how the female figure has changed - not so with the males - fairly contemporary, but it's all very 'tongue in cheek' and does unfold like vintage David Lynch ... give or take a little Jean Cocteau or is it Genet???Most interesting? The "Madame Butterfly" sequence - complete with gender-bending make-up. A must for the collector, especially the vintage under-garments ..... Unique and great fun ..... [de Sade might applaud vaguely...] Oh some of the things Grandpere and Mama did!

Review: A joyous celebration of unimpeded, unhindered sex. This DVD consists of 24 short silent B&W films from 20's and 30's France featuring various singles, couples, and groups in -- well, almost every possible combination, actually. Sure, they're just ordinary people, with the lumps, cellulite, and excess hair that ordinary people have; as such, I found it a pleasant antidote to the ridiculous excesses of modern porn. It also gives some explanation for the French reputation as lovers: every straight coupling starts with getting the woman off. Now that's what I call feminist! Be warned; it's very explicit and includes lesbian, gay, straight, and group situations, as well as quite a number of cum shots. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)

Review: An old collection of erotic short films done in the pre-audio era. Lots of Frence music and old type filming. Not all that erotic due to this.Will try the 1940's next......

Summary: Interesting historically and erotic, too
Review: For anybody familiar with modern porn, I think it's really fascinating to note the differences between this collection of short films from the thirties and the porn you find today. For one thing, the people in these movies are real, with hair, flab, and imperfections in all the places that normal people have them. These films aren't about fantastical and unreal scenarios with clean and unflawed actors and actresses, these are real people having sex together on film. I personally found it far preferable to modern day porn. The video quality is pretty bad, I confess, and that gets pretty upsetting because the detail is all blurred and indistinct. I'd like to a see something like this rom the fifties with better quality film but the same kinds of people and the same kinds of scenes.

Review: If you are interested in Vintage Erotica this is a good purchase. Allthough the quality is below todays standard, these films from the 20's and 30's are the best I have seen on Video and is the first I have seen on DVD. Amazing this is available on Amazon, as it features soft and hardcore, allthough it has some class being from Europe. Highly recommended.

Summary: Interesting content, crappy interface
Review: My one big complaint about this disk is the interface - there is none. The index screen only give you the option to "play." There is no direct scene access, so if you want to jump to a particular short, you are forced to jump scene by scene. Also, I could not get the "play" button to work when I loaded the disk into my laptop (it works fine in my console player). The disk would play to the index screen and then go no further. That said, I found the actual content of the disk quite interesting. It shows how little sex (or at least porn) has changed over the years. Much of the content is quite explicit and only suffers from the underdeveloped film and camera technology of the time. This is an interesting disk, well worth the money

Review: The video and audio are similar to an old Charlie Chaplan movie. Apparantly it was illegal at the time this movie was made, for women to shave any part of their body. This is the kind of thing you get for someone who has everything and you have no gift ideas. Gramps would enjoy this.
