Summary: I don't know what I was thinking
Review: After I read the novel by Sparks I was really excited about the movie, but I was really disapointed. It doesen't have the elements that makes these types of stories memorable, not to mention that Mandy Moore and Shane West have no chemistry together. In my opinion if you want an unrealistic view of relationships buy this movie. But, if you really feel like a good cry, read the book. The plot isn't original or anything but it it still classicaly heartwrenching.

Summary: This was the best movie i have ever seen
Review: "A Walk to Remember" is a wonderful movie. I enjoyed it very much. It made me laugh, cry and really understand how one experience can change your life for ever. Shane West (Landon) and Mandy Moore (Jamie) were amazing in this movie. They portrayed their characters very well and made this a movie that I would want to watch over and over again. If you have not seen it, I would highly recommend seeing it. It sends out a great message that most teenage movies out now do not.

Summary: Christianity Lite!
Review: I guess some these days are so starved to find respect for Christianity in the movies that they'll rejoice at the most meager sign of a Christian theme in a movie. This movie's heroine, Jamie, could be just about like any other sometimes ditsy, sometimes smart-alecky teen in a contemporary teen movie, except - she's the daughter of a minister, she carries a Bible around, and she preaches (and we'll assume practices) no premarital sex. But other than that she shows no strong character qualities that should make her stand out, as a Christian, from a lot of typical cinematic teens these days. Her father looks just like a typical movie preacher, albeit not negatively stereotyped like in some movies deriding Christianity, but not outstanding in any positive way either. Then about midway through, a bombshell surprise twist is thrown in. Not to give away too much, but just when we were getting used to trying to care enough for the characters to pull for them as in a typical lightweight teen romance (/comedy?), the movie suddenly becomes a stock entry in a rather different movie genre. Then the major characters, including Jamie, her father, and her boyfriend show joy in what is joyful and saddness in what is sad, in keeping with the plot at that point for a typical movie of its new genre. But the two halves seem arbitrarily tacked together. There's nothing about the characters in the first half that makes the second half a smooth development for them. And throughout, Christian values, where not forgotten, range from stereotypical to trivialized, and sometimes both.

Summary: What an incredible surprise!!!
Review: I recently went to a double feature to see "Collateral Damage". I didn't even know what the second film would be but decided to stick around. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made! It was "A Walk to Remember", and a movie to remember! I absolutely loved it! The plot was good, the acting was great, and the message was the best. It was so encouraging to see that Hollywood could still make a movie like this. The two main characters just kept pulling me into the story. If you haven't seen it, don't walk... RUN to the theatre before it's too late. I can guarantee the day it's available on DVD, I'll buy it.

Summary: The Difference Between Sex And Love
Review: I went to watch this film having been irrevocably scarred from watching romance depicted in films like Titanic , Pearl Harbour and the truly awful Crossroads starring Britney Spears. My first reaction to seeing the poster for A Walk To Remember was that it was an...imitation of Crossroads and Mandy Moore had the same kind of acting aspirations Britney did. So I made up my mind to avoid this film like the plague. But when I was watching another film, they played the trailer for A Walk To Remember and Peter Coyote caught my eye because I have always liked his rich resonant voice and his sympathetic portrayals of decent people in the past, he can say so much with his eyes, and doesn't need great lines to fill the screen with his presence. I was also stunned by the few clips they showed of Mandy Moore because she came across as a genuine, sincere person falling in love for the first time. I could not believe this was a film debut of a teen pop star. So I went to watch the film, and I was so glad I swallowed my pride and prejudices about watching what is ostensibly a teen romance film. Well, its a teen film all right but the depiction of love is timeless and speaks to the heart, no matter how old and cynical you are. There are so many beautiful images in this movie, and so many fresh interpretations of what draws two people who start off being so dissimilar, together. The character played by Mandy Moore is likely to stay in your mind forever, I know it will for me. Never have I seen on screen such a sincere, deep and life enriching portrayal of innocence, the last time I saw something close was Sandra Bullock in While You Were Sleeping. It is almost miraculous that this is the first time screen debut of a seventeen year old pop singer. In an interview she gave, Mandy Moore said that playing this character (Jamie) had brought changes in her own personal life, and that it brought her closer to God. The character played by Shane West (Landon) is also strong, he is a fine actor, and reminds me of what River Phoenix might have been. His doubts, confusion and eventual attraction to Jamie are depicted with a sensitivity rare to find in such a young person, and his decision to give up his entire secure past life for a future filled with doubt, but coloured with love, patience and compassion is admirable, and inspirational. Peter Coyote also gives a great performance as the confused and frightened father (a priest) who is so afraid God will take away another one of his loved ones, first in heart and then in body. Unfortunately they do not give him more of a role in this film, there could have been so many meaningful conversations between him and this young man he despises who comes for his daughter almost as if it were out of Hell to take Jamie away from him. In my opinion, this is Peter Coyote's most memorable performance, one can almost see the love radiating from his eyes each time he looks at his daughter, no words need be said and never once does he convey any sense of bitterness, only hope. Another major theme explored in the film is how all the different characters learn something about forgiveness, and how hard it can be. The final theme is that of making the best use of whatever time is given to you, and there are many ways of doing this, for the world is full of beautiful things which cost nothing to enjoy, and Jamie and Landon show us some of these things. As a backdrop to the drama, the film soundtrack is just lovely, so many poignant songs which add depth and colour to the words the characters say. Unfortunately, the film has been trashed by 99 % of professional film critics as being mawkish and forgettable. But how many times in history have the critics been proved wrong - an example being the first debut of Capra's "Its A Wonderful Life" which was also trashed by the film critics ? In my opinion however, just as "Its A Wonderful Life" reached out from obscurity into the hearts and minds of millions of people all over the world over a 60 year period, so I believe will A Work To Remember be destined to be one of the all time favourite love films. Go and watch it, despite what the critics say, and buy the video when it is released - it might change your life, and if doesn't, you'll still have an awful lot of sweet memories for the future, not just for yourself but for your family too.

Summary: this movie was great!
Review: This movie was great! at times u would be happy then other times
you want to cry! it was a great but a sad movie and the book is a little different from the movie i recomend this movie to anyone who likes romance. The movie was about a girl named Jamie. Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. Serious and conservative, she was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn't care. The daughter of the town's Baptist minister, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life, even if it cost her some friends. Landon hung with the in-crowd -- an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado. He had no plans, no future and no faith in himself.
One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment must tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Club's Spring play - two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. They also happen to throw him into close contact with Jamie. Clearly in over his head, Landon is forced to ask her for help.Soon, against his own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. But it isn't easy. For reasons of her own, Jamie does everything she can to run away from romance until it becomes impossible to deny. Being together will test everything that they believe in. Most of all, it will test the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living.
