Rating: Summary: I do not think this movie was on the same level as GWTW. Review: This movie and book should never have been a sequal to Gone With The Wind as it was not in the same class as GWTW. The acting in Scarlet was just tolerable and the theme was totally unrealitic. Scarlet rates in my opinion right along side any Harliquen romance novel on the market today. But had no business as a sequal to Gone with the Wind.
Rating: Summary: discontect it from the book and it would be a good movie Review: If the movie would not have been a sequel then this would have been a great movie. I was disapointed in the ending only because I had read the book first. Now after watching it over (and over) again I have come to enjoy the ending to the movie too.
Rating: Summary: okay, but not true to the book Review: I greatly enjoyed both the book and the movie GWTW. I read the book Scarlett as well. The ending of the movie was entirely different!! I thought the rape and involvement of Mary w/ Sean Bean's character was totally unnecessary. The way Scarlett's priest cousin dies is also better in the book. The show itself was well done, but it changed too much from the book. I think the character of Scarlett was also altered a bit. She never actually grew up very much. Altogether, I'm glad I saw it and we probably won't find a movie that can live up the original epic.
Rating: Summary: Okay Review: I liked the first part of the movie. I think It showed all of Scarlett's determination but I hated the ending. I don't know what was wrong with the ending of the book. I did not like all the rape and murder. I was not nessasary I think it was more romantic in the book because Rhett came looking for Scarlett
Rating: Summary: Although great, it lacks a few things mentioned in book Review: Yes, like those who enjoyed the movie, I have found that it lacks a few things that were mentioned in the book. For example, in the book it mentions a few children from Scarlett's previous marriages. Also they changed somethings that would have made more sence than what was written in the script. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but I feel that these few things that were either left out completly left out or changed would have made the movie a tad better.
Rating: Summary: The worst movie ever ! Review: Yes, 1 star for the effort of making this film. Afterall, why bother to make such an extremely disappointing film like " Scarlett " anyway ? Joanne Whally-Kilmer might be a good actress in some other movies but... not this one ! She is way out of what we relate with the Scarlett O'Hara that we see in Vivien Leigh. And Timothy Dalton, boy, he is much better off with Rochester in "Jane Eyre" than with Rett Butler ! Oh, and talk about the other factors in the movie ! Come on, we are in the 90's now. Can we not make a movie that is at least half as good as the GWTW movie made in the 30's ?!?!
Rating: Summary: Not worthy of the title "Sequel" to Gone With The Wind Review: I read "Gone With the Wind" twice and was looking forward to seeing "Scarlett". My hopes were crushed under the foot of an incredibly bad director. Although Joanne Whalley Kilmer did a reasonable job of acting with the part that she was forced to work with, the rest of cast was no exception and did not have the appeal of the original cast of "Gone With the Wind". I have seen Timothy Dalton, who played Rhett Butler,in some exceptionally awful films, but "Scarlett" was by far his worst. I thought the plot about "Scarlett" having to go to Ireland was remarkably pointless. Her place is in Georgia not some rich estate partly owned by a man played by Sean Bean with disgusting, pervereted needs and pleasures. My opinion of him faltered to as low as dirt. The century portrayed in this movie which is supposed to be in the late 1800s was coated with grotesque modern trash. Save yourself the grief and don't be exposed to this waste of money that permantly stains the great epic "Gone With the Wind" unless you feel the need to vomit in remorse.
Rating: Summary: It was a pretty good show Review: I like the way they brought Scarlett from the innocent, selfish life to reality, but they took away alot of her innocence, and selfishness. She hardly does any scheming. It is one thing to make her into a woman, but to completely take away all of her childness eliminates the true Scarlett, the one we have come to love.
Rating: Summary: An undying love story Review: It is a gorgeous love story and has unbelievable cinematography. Remember it was made for TV. The love between Rhett and Scarlett will keep you watching for hours to see what will happen. The suspense is over only at the end of the movie.
Rating: Summary: GWTW sequel does not measure up. Review: I enjoyed reading the book, but was disappointed by the mini-series. I found the cast lackluster, failing to inspire the passion of GWTW. The terrible attempts to imitate Irish and Southern accents were distracting.
