Rating: Summary: I thought it was good but not as good as GWTW Review: I thoughtit was very good. VERY different from the book, which I read. It is not a movie for young children. I thoughtjoanne Whally Kilmore was better than Vivian Leigh.
Rating: Summary: i love it Review: i am a "Windie" (extreeme gone with the wind fan), so i'm sorry to say that i loved this movie, almost as much as the ORIGINAL. the first scarlett was great, but in the sequel, scarlett O'Hara is much more mature, and definitely less whiney, but she still showed the same "passion for living." Timothy Dalton in the sequel is handsome, dashing, charming, everything clark gable brought to the part, but i dont know how much Rhett really would have gone for that goodey too shoes, oh i forgot her name. the pure fact that they hired both british stars to play southern american parts is absurd... and another thing, the book was extraordinary, how ALexandra Ripley could have thought of that stuff is beyond me... so why did they have to alter perfection and put in some crazy court scene and murder trial? Oh, i know why, simply to get the viewers attention. That never happened in the book and was totally unnecessary. But beside from all that the movie was a smash hit, and not a crash and burn like other "Windies" will tell you. And another thing... who was the costume cordinator, those dresses were stunning! There's a reason to watch it in itself!
Rating: Summary: SCARLETT Review: This is a movie that has great passion for Margaret Mitchell's movie and book Gone With the Wind. This movie was about who played the part, or who written the book...It's about the heart of a woman longing for the past. Yeah, maybe some people think that who plays the part is resembled over the movie. I watched Scarlett a lot of times, it's not about what move the character is going to make, but this movie was a sequel based on a young woman who had lost her ex husband Rhett Butler, and Scarlett, O'Hara wanted to retrieve him back. This movie is about the South, and a pure land that was once lost, but Scarlett knew that her and Rhett belonged together. Joanne Whalley- Kilmer did portray some of Margaret's movie. I believe that Alexandra Ripley did write the book as an excellent Title of Gone with the Wind. People may think that Timothy Dalton, or Joanne didn't do that great of acting. I thought of the movie as a young woman in search of her true heart. It's not about the acting--If they're good or not--I'd like to see other Americans try acting...Nobody could do as well as them two. Scarlett would be a hard place to play, and also so was Rhett's position. I belive that this movie was acted very well by them both. In the movie I was wondering WHY- Wasn't Ashley and Melanie's son wasn't even showed even once in this seque. I thought it to be strange to even not mention him, since after all he was in GWTW also. IF YOU BELIEVED THAT GWTW was excellent this movie is just as exciting as the first.
Rating: Summary: Scarlett~One sequel that surpasses the original Review: I found Scarlett to be brilliant, vivid, and passionately captivating. Joanne Whalley-Kilmer and Timothy Dalton did their predeccesors well...I found Joanne's portrayal of the ever entrancing Scarlett accurate, and far more interesting than Vivien Leigh's. She added scope and passion to Leigh's often cold and distant heroine...I applaud her. Timothy Dalton truly amazed me...he was as good,if not better, than Gable. To those who dislike Scarlett,I honestly cannot understand. Perhaps they are comparing it to GWTW...and it isnt the same...no two films ever are. But it does, without a doubt, quench the viewers thirst and finally and brilliantly answers what we all have been asking since GWTW debuted...What happened to Scarlett and Rhett? Watch, and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Simply Epic Review: I read the book and this movie far surpasses it! If you get the chance to rent this soon to be classic, do it. I thought the acting was superb and the story telling was great. Don't believe the critics, see this one today!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This is a very good mini-series. The book is even better. I am a true fan of Scarlett O'Hara and Joanne Whalley-Kilmer did a magnificent job of portraying her. I have seen the movie twice, and I'm about to buy it.
Rating: Summary: Nothing like the book, and the book isn't even good! Review: The book isn't very good, and the book is always better than the movie, so I have no idea why I wasted my time watching this, but I did. The movie has almost nothing in common with the book! And the book isn't good, either. If you want to watch a movie, watch GWTW again, not this!
Rating: Summary: Well, it didn't even come close! Review: As many other GWTW fans..I craved more of Scarlett and Rhett.. and wanted a happy ending for it all. I read the book Scarlett.. and was happy and quite sad. Seems that the original haunts you (I am a big fan!) and Scarlett left you a bit disapointed. I dont think that the best of actors could have pulled off what we the fans expected.. but it did give me what most of GWTW fans wanted.. a happy ending.. right?
Rating: Summary: Why John Gielgud?! Why??!! Review: What was one of the greatest actors of the century doing in this southern soap? What next? Vanessa Redgrave in "Cleopatra"?
Rating: Summary: Not even worthy of 1 star!!! Review: "Scarlett" was horrible. Enough said. None of the situations, none of the action was anything that Margaret Mitchell would have come close to thinking of. Joanne Whalley- Kilmer was horrible. She would start with a close to Southern accent (I should know, I live in the South) but she would lose it (the accent) after one or two lines. It makes me shudder to think that she was supposed to be playing the same character as Vivien Leigh magnificently played. Timothy Dalton just wasn't Rhett, plain and simple. About the other characters, none were even close to belivable. You never really get to know anyone. Some of the situations that were completely ridiculous are: 1) Scarlett would never ever give Tara up,and to Suellen (remember the whole thing at the end of GWTW where she had to go back to Tara because that's where she belonged) 2)Why would she fall in love with that jerk, Lord Fenton. (also remember back to the end of GWTW, she had a revelation that she really did love Rhett) So why would she fall for Fenton. 3)When Scarlett goes back to Tara at the beginning of "Scarlett" she only stays for what seems like a week (if she loved Tara so much why would she stay only a week) 4)How could they kill Mammy. Mammy is one of the strongest characters in GWTW 5)Who is this girl Rhett marries, a little goody- good who is totally NOT his type (Gable's Rhett probably wouldn't be able to stand her) 6)The end to GWTW is one of the best parts in the whole movie where you don't know if Rhett was going to come back or not, you're left only with your imagination. But in "Scarlett" they had to give it a happy ending which makes you feel like you wasted your time watching this so- called movie. I know it wasted my time. I didn't even bother reading the book after I saw the movie and I haven't seen the movie since it came on TV for the first time. I'm a die hard fan of "Gone With the Wind" the best movie and book ever and I'd much rather forget everything about the ridiculous "sequel". >>>>Thanks for reading this, I know it's long but hopefully I saved at least one person from making the mistake of watching "Scarlett" or reading the book<<<< You'll have a safe bet that you'll most probably will be satisfied if you watch the one true "Gone With the Wind"(the best movie ever made [if I haven't said that already])
