Summary: Not my cup of tea
Review: This was an okay movie... but I don't recommend rushing out to rent it tonight unless you're in the mood to be depressed. Why do so many movies have to take a happy note and turn it sour? As my boyfriend said, don't rent any movie with the word "earth" in it because it's going to make you cry.

Summary: Part Silly, Part Really Good
Review: High school graduates Kelley (Chris Klein), Sam (Leelee Sobieski), and Jasper (Josh Hartnett) get caught up in an odd love triangle in a small Massachusetts town. It's a mildly interesting plot, and hasn't been done to death in the usually blah teen flick genre, so it has that going for it. Klein plays a preppy, wealthy, snotty Princeton freshman who hits on Hartnett's girlfriend, Sobieski, one night at Sobieski's family diner. For some reason, two mostly level headed guys start going at each other, and a testerone-filled race down dirt roads begins. To avoid hitting the pedestrians, the two boys end of hitting a gas station, which blows up the restaurant. Not sure how accurate that is, but it's not important. Funny to note, however, that although most of the blame is put on Klein's character for the fire, he was the one that managed to avoid hitting any people, buildings, or other cars. Hartnett's character escapes with very little blame, but he was the one that actually hit the gas station and caused the disaster. Hm. Leelee Sobieski is a fine actress, but this is not her movie. She goes from flirty and boring to sentimental and boring, with very little in between. That might be because she's never given any good lines in this rather mediocre script, but mostly it's just because the characters is boring. Not enough life. Chris Klein gets a lot of grief for being a lame actor that only gets by on his looks (which are oddly perfect). Not so! In this film, he proves the saving point, turning a bit of teen movie yuck into a well-acted picture. He is very, very good, downplaying his good looks and going almost entirely with his uncanny talent. Delightful and suprising pleasure to watch. Hartnett's character is a bit too perfect to be really interesting - he has no flaws! But is well acted nonetheless. A fairly good movie, maybe worth watching once or twice. Because of so-so script and some stereotypical characters, however, it never really becomes the great movie it could have been.

Summary: A Five-Hankie Tear-Jerker
Review: Rich kid Kelley drag races local boy Jasper, and they crash and burn down diner. Their sentence? Work together with the reconstruction crew to rebuild the diner throughout the summer.

Rich kid and local boy's girlfriend, Samantha, fall in love, causing all sorts of turmoil. Samantha's osteo-carcinoma spreads, however. Kelley, who has demonstrated just how much of a jerk he can be throughout the movie, leaves her in the process of dying at the end of the summer to head for one of the Ivy League colleges. At the end of the movie, he returns, and big-hearted Jasper steps aside so that Samantha can spend her last weeks with Kelley.

This is a soppy tearjerker, with some passable performances from the three leads. Chris Klein as Kelley is a completely unsympathetic character until the last ten minutes of the movie, by which time the audience cannot shake off its dislike of him. Who knows what on earth the innocent, ailing Samantha, played adequately by LeeLee Sobieski, sees in him? Josh Hartnett, who plays the local boy Jasper, does quite a good job.

Brain candy for 15-year-old girls.

Summary: A one number production.
Review: this film was capured pretty well i'd rent or watch it again , writing was very good & acting was also good . it's a very tender film kinda of reminded me of love story in that mode. but not as stuffy or depressing or being hit with heavy swearing like in that show , this show is alot better that love story . recommended flick .

Summary: Only for Die-hard Josh fans!!
Review: I rented out this movie and did like it at first, i cried my eyes out. But when i rented it out again (yes again) I realised that the only reason I liked it was because of Josh, the only reason i cried was because of Josh, in fact Josh was the only good thing about the entire film and the only one who had any acting talent! Exactly what is he doing in a movie so Moronic?!

Summary: Wow........
Review: Well the first time I watched this, I'm gonna admit this, it was only for Josh Hartnett. And all I can say is....

Good God what a waste of his good acting talent. Were we supposed to hate his character for getting in the way of Leelee Sobieski's and Chris Klein's? If anything, all it did was make those two look like jerks for hurting the other guy. Maybe I could be more sympathetic if Sam(Sobieski) was in love with Kelley(Klein) and Jasper(Hartnett) treated her like crap. But Jasper was nothing but sweet to her and she walked over him. And comparing it to Love Story? Nope, don't think so.

I know quite a few people liked this movie, but I don't. If you're a Josh fan, you'll kinda be disappointed. A Leelee fan, I recommend Never Been Kissed, and a Chris fan, Election. Not this movie.

Summary: So many flaws...
Review: At one point in Here on Earth, my sister and me said aloud the reasons why this movie was so bad. At this point, Leelee Sobieski's character was jumping on a bus to go away with Kelley (Chris Klein). Here are some of the things we pointed out: we don't care for Leelee Sobieski's character, whatever happens to her, she is a two-timing bitch. Nor do we care for the fate of the rest of the characters. You can't just jump on a bus without a ticket and no money. You don't just leave your boyfriend there standing on the side of the road. I could go on forever, but I think the word stupid really sums up this movie. While not only being highly unrealistic, this movie is boring and heartless, while what the goal obviously was to make the audience really be enthralled and the film be totally emotional. No, the crew has not reached their goal. This has turned out to be a cheese-ball of a film where you don't like the characters and have no sense of sympathy for what happens to them. There are also a lot of sight flaws in this film, um, hello, the guys beat up each other (yet another flaw, for the first half an hour, the 2 guys are just pounding in one and other's face, as if the script-writer's could think of anything more "entertaining") and within the next day their scars are gone. And did anyone else notice Kelley (Klein's character) wears the same shirts throughout the summer? I'll stop there now, but if I could be bothered, I could list the flaws in this movie and sell it as a novel. Stay away from this film.

Summary: A Sad, Pleasant Love Story
Review: LeeLee Sobieski stars as Samantha, a small town teen trying to live her life as fully as possible despite a bout with cancer. A high school track star, she has seen the disease end her track career, and with it, a full athletic scholarship to Boston University. Yet she doesn't give up, still planning to attend college, and even entertaining thoughts of later attending medical school.

The editorial review was really off base, suggesting that the cancer appeared suddenly, formulamatically out-of-the blue, when actually, it was something Samantha had been dealing with for a while, predating the beginning of the film. Displaying a deep inner strength, she doesn't dwell on her disease, and doesn't seek sympathy from others, later admitting when she is dying that she didn't want people to feel sorry for her.

The film serves as a wonderful showcase for Sobieski, helped by a good supporting cast, including such familiar faces as Bruce Greenwood and Annette O'Toole. While not a masterpiece, the film is an enjoyable effort which should make anyone who sees it a fan of Sobieski, if they aren't already.

Summary: This is a hot movie!!!!
Review: This is the sweetest movie I have ever seen. All of the Actors do great and I LOVE Josh Hartnett, and Klein is a hottie, but he doesn't do that good of a job. The movie is an over all great movie. I cried so hard and I don't usually cry in a movie but it is just so sweet. I wish that I had a great boyfriend like Josh. So if you were to ask me I would tell you to buy the movie because you will watch it over and over again. I just keep renting it.

Summary: YOU ARE STUPID IF YOU LIKE THIS MOVIE
Review: First off, Chris Klein is one of the worst actors out there. He's a wanna-be Keanu Reeves but makes Reeves' acting look like Academy Award-material. He's so dull. Leelee Sobieski doesn't really need to act much in this movie, but she's really ugly--since she doesn't say anything of redeeming value (actually no one does), she could at least look good.

Now, what's up with the stupid plot? Rich jerk comes into town and steals the "nice girl" from her low-income boyfriend AND THIS RICH JERK IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE GUY TO ROOT FOR?! No one in their right mind could think that Klein's character is the good guy here. In fact, I rooted for the original boyfriend who never mistreated her--if the screenwriter wanted you to root for Rich Jerk he would have made the original boyfriend a girlfriend-beating drunk...and made Rich Jerk less of a jerk. She basically falls for the new guy in town with lots of money and a flashy Mercedes...what's the point?

My "favorite" scenes are the ones where the two main characters start talking eloquently--like when Klein starts reciting the graduation speech he was supposed to give. It sounded so fake I wanted to barf. He simply cannot act.

The fight scenes were stupid, too...don't tell me that the ex-boyfriend would merely get into little skirmishes with Rich Jerk when he knew what he was up to. And don't tell me that the ex's best friend wouldn't have beat the daylights out of girly Rich Jerk when he caught him and his friend's girlfriend kissing.

If you have to endure this movie, watch how Klein starts moving like a robot sometimes (like in his talk with the ex-boyfriend in the barn near the end). He's very uncomfortable.

Other than shots of a nice convertible, there is nothing good about this movie--nothing! I am dead serious. Even the DVD cover is ugly. I wish I could give this movie zero stars.
