Summary: Beautiful Crafting
Review: A milestone on cinema? On some levels, yes. This film's moral structure & general architecture is breathtaking. Add to this a perfect musical score and you get some of movie's finest moments.

Indecent Proposal is one of the most entertaining morality works out there. The moral to the story, without needing to go into theology or any other construct, is really simple: there's no such thig as a free ride. When most people were presented with this proposal so many or us said "yes, in an instant" and you wonder about the education standard of our country! The line of the seductive Robert Redford when Demi Moore accused him (while slowly being seduced by him herself) of being a man "who likes to own things" seems to sum up the entire film: "You think I need to BUY women?" Redford, a man in this piece who as a billionaire has seen and caused the evolution and destruction of multi-national corporations the size of an ancient egyptian empire, knew EXACTLY what would happen to this marriage, and to their mind- and to the heart, if they entered this contract knowingly and accepting this proposal most indecent. He knew the face of THEIR arrogance and the fragile nature of human relationships and the sometimes invisible architecture of the human soul; knowing, like every being with a secret plan for another human being, that that would bring about the predictable but unexpected chain of responsive events. The movie's most poignant twist comes when he reveals the route not taken in HIS own life, with all his money, and how that has generated much of his millions. Only then do we really discover under no uncertain terms what he desires, and what he is willing to embrace to get it. This begins the falling domino of epiphanies that leads to the revealing of the gentle but fragile hearts of all three of the characters, and the transcendent nature of love, committment and surrender.

Summary: Was it really so indecent?
Review: Adrian Lyne is truely a master at exploiting human emotions. In this powerful movie he adds the bonus of 'easy money' in the form of one million dollars to a stuggling couple if the lady is willing to spend just one night with him.. We are all to assume that one night is all the billionaire really wants. "The night will come and go but the money could last a lifetime" he explains, but in a true Coen brothers twist, money proves to be the root of all evil. The irony being, that once the night passes, and the relationship deteriorates, neither of them want the money. The only real flaw in the movie is the fact that neither member of this relatively intelligent couple are able to see what the billionaires alterior motive is.
All through this movie I kept wondering what I would do in the same situation. Now I'm not married but maybe if I were I would look at it differently but right now, I would probably take the money. The reason being that I think I'm mature and responsible enough to deal with it.... But then again, dont we all.

Summary: She Shoulda Said No
Review: Demi and Woody are married, but they're poor. They meet Robert Redford, and he's REALLY rich. He takes a fancy to Demi, and since he's a gambling man he makes the couple an "indecent proposal:" one million dollars for a night with the little woman. And at this point you need watch no more of the film because you can put the details together in your sleep. Of course Demi is going to accept the offer. If she doesn't there's no first half of the movie. Of course it will affect Demi and Woody's marriage. If it doesn't there's no second half of the movie. And of course everything will turn out okay by the time the credits roll. If it doesn't, there's no happy ending.

The absolute best thing you can say about INDECENT PROPOSAL is that Demi Moore looks good in a black dress. As for the rest... The script is incompetent, the direction amateurish, the performances negligable. I suspect Redford, Moore, and Harrelson blush and change the subject every time the film is mentioned. Do them--and more importantly yourself--a favor. Unless some one offers you a million... Miss It!

Summary: Ignore how they spend the million dollars and it's good
Review: Demi Moore and Robert redford play nice in this film. Moore does a great job of resisting him, alternating between hostile and outright enraged. Redford is quiet; his appeal is slow and simmering. Harrelson and Moore have real heat and I was somewhat surprised by that, quite frankly. Harrelson is believable as a husband who can't live with his decision--rightly so. I had a little problem with Redford buying their property out from under them, but I suppose we are to assume he did that b.c he was in love with Demi. The ending is the only clink in the armor here. The way the million dollars is spent is goofy. Otherwise, a nice look at: does everyone have a price? What would you do for a million dollars? The price of happiness? Among other themes.

Summary: Did Demi Do It w/ Redford or Not?!?
Review: Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson play a couple in a sudden bind financially. When trying to strike it rich in Las Vegas fails, enter Redford character to the rescue. When Redford proposes them the answer to their problems the end result could spell disastorous. Though the movie never actually shows Moore and Redford sealing the deal, it kinda makes you wonder if it really did happen. One really powerful scene in Indecent Proposal is when Harrelson is having second thoughts and wanting to canel the deal tries looking for Moore realizing that they are already leaving via helecopter on the roof of the building he is frantically trying look for her.

Summary: Indecent Proposal - Can Money Really Buy Love?
Review: Diana and David Murphy (Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson) are a young couple in love. Heck, their relationship is so blissfully perfect, you can hardly believe it. She's a real estate agent and he's an architect. After a quick synopsis of their relationship, we're told that they tightened their collective belts to take a loan out on their home to buy a piece of ocean-front property to build their dreamhouse...which David designed of course. But then the real estate market crashes and they're precariously close to losing everything. This is where the problems with the film really start. What do the Murphy's do to get the fifty-thousand dollars they need? Borrow five-thousand from his dad and go to Vegas! It would be funny if I was kidding, but I'm not. It's there that they meet John Gage (Robert Redford) and he offers to pay them one million dollars for a night with Diana. Of course they refuse and are offended at the offer, but it gnaws at them. The story really crashes when they convince themselves that she'll do it and it won't cause any problems with their marriage. "We'll just forget it ever happened and never talk about it," she says. Hello??? I initially looked forward to this film in 1993 because I think the "Can money buy love?" question is one that can spawn a lot of interesting conversation, but unfortunately the story just keeps taking turn after turn farther away from what I could consider believable in a situation like this like David donating a million bucks at a charity to buy a hippo at the end of the film! The film is able to keep the viewer's attention until the end simply because you'll want to know what's going to happen, but there's no question a stronger script could have definitely enhanced this movie despite the generally good acting on the part of Moore, Harrelson and Redford.

Summary: M I L L I O N S GATEWAY!
Review: First before I get misunderstood yes the proposal is INDECENT and far away from human Moralities. But if you manage to put that aside you'll LOVE this movie.

I find this to be the best movie for Demi Moore. She's so sweet, sexy and married to Woody Harrelson (and they extremely broke and in big debt). Then comes the bachelor billionaire Robert Redford and pay them $1000,000 for ONE NIGHT with Demi Moore, Oh because she said SHE COULDN'T BE BOUGHT!!!

Of course it was INDECENT and IMMORAL but the broke couple thought it would solve their financial problem! Well, yes it did but it ruined their marriage. Woody Harrelson became very suspicious about his wife, Robert Redford put them on fire and Demi Moore tried to maintain her marriage but ... a broken glass can never be the same again!

Robert Redford wins Demi Moore's heart and she files for divorce. Of course she lived like a queen; a Palace, a Rolls Royce and Robert Redford. But something is missing in their relationship...

I find this film to be very romantic, touchy and POWERFUL. One of the best words said in the movie was:

1. of Woody Harrelson: "I was very jealous of him because I always saw him as a better man but now I know he's only a man with more money!"

2. of Robert Redford: "She never looked at me the way she looked at him!"

ONE OF A KIND, VERY ROMANTIC, VERY TOUCHY, in a world where there is no winner!
