Rating: Summary: It inspired my fruitful and continuing bull riding carear Review: This move is the best portrayal of rodeo life, death, and triumph. The fact that it can bring you so close to the man, Lane Frost, in it's portrayal is very comending. By the middle of the movie I found myself accually loving Lane. My interest in rodeo grew from being just watching it every chance I got, to riding every chance I got. Lane Frost, and this move, made me realize that inside of me, and everyone else, is a true hero. I loved the movie, wanted to be like the man, and want to spread as much of the love of rodeo as I can. END
Rating: Summary: The most heart touching western video I have ever seen! Review: I saw 8 Seconds for the first time this last Wednsday, and I missed the begining part and when I turned to it at first I though oh just a stupid western movie. After that I kept watching it and it was getting really really good. I enjoyed it so much I went out the next night to rent it. Lane Frost I have known about for a while because here in Colorado we have lots of rodeos. This movie touched me so much I cry everytime I watch it. Lane frost was a very dedicated person and caring but stong and courageous. God bless him wherever he is. I suggest this movie to anyone who likes country or drama movies, because it is a real good movie. It shows that if you work for your goals you can achive them, but you have to pay the price like lane giving up his life for rodeo.
Rating: Summary: Best Rodeo Movie Review: Probably one of the best rodeo movies ever made, period. I noticed on one of the earlier reviews that they thought Luke Perry rode some of the bulls in this movie, thats bull in itself. All stunts were done by professionals, Tuff Hedeman, Terry Don West, Cody Lambert to name a few, give credit where credit is due. Luke does a nice job in his portrayal of Lane Frost, but I feel that Stephen Baldwin does just as good a job as Tuff Hedeman and is somewhat overlooked in conversation regarding this movie. Bill Conti's music is just a nice added perk. This is a great rodeo movie, shows the life the way it is, the true story of Lane frost, one of the greatest bull riders cut short in his prime. Life on the road, tough loving dad, falling in love, adultry, comradare, and the movie that most people became familiar with "Cowboy Up!" If this movie does not move you then you just aren't human....or country!
Rating: Summary: Once in a while Review: Once in a while a movie will come along that will strike a chord and touch the souls of even the hardest hearted viewers. "8 Seconds" is such a movie. It is a warts and all biopic of Lane Frost, a world champion cowboy who was tragically killed by a bull just a few months prior to his 26th birthday. Although it wasn't a box office hit and is slammed by most critics (who don't speak for the majority anyway) this film is a success. It doesn't canonise Frost, instead it portrays him the way he undoubtedly was - as a decent but flawed human being, who like the rest of us, wasn't perfect but had a good personality and a good heart. And be prepared to reach for the Kleenex during the closing moments and final credits of the film. You'll need them!
Rating: Summary: A Man Who Has Touched Our Lives Review: I first watched this video back in 1995 after a friend recommened it. After watching and crying we purchased our own copy of the video and also the soundtrack cd, which our 6 year old requests all the time, he knows the whole story of Lane's life and can proudly retell it to anyone who will listen. Lane's life has become part of ours, it is hard for other people to understand how someone who lived on the other side of the world, who we never met has become such a big deal. When our second son was born on the 22nd May, 1998 we named him Lane, in memory of the fantastic Lane Frost. When our Lane is old enough to understand it will be with great pride we will tell him of the achievements of the man he was named after. To Mr & Mrs Frost, Thankyou !!!!! I did write to you but I don't know if you ever received my letter, to Robin & Cody what a fantastic brother who have, to Kellie what a terrific guy to have married and to Tuff & Cody a friend who you will never forget. We certainly won't. We are collecting all merchandise EG: posters, Tshirts ect but coming from the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia it is a bit hard.If anyone in the USA has any extra info that I could possibly send over a cheque for could you please post me the details.Thankyou Craig, Jenny, Ryan & Lane Sheen END
Rating: Summary: THE ABSOLUTE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ OR WILL EVER READ. Review: I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I FEEL GREAT THAT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE BOOK, AND MOVIE THAT I DID. I SAW THE MOVIE BEFORE I BOUGHT THE BOOK, BUT I TOOK THE BOOK EVERYWHERE WITH ME SO I WOULD ALWAYS BE ABLE TO READ IT. AROUND WHERE I LIVE YOU DON'T FIND TOO MANY RODEO ENTHUSISTS ATLEAST NOT OUT IN THE OPEN, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT RODEO UNTIL I SAW THIS MOVIE. ONE DAY I WAS KIND OF BORED SO I DECIDED TO GO TO A MOVIE, THERE WEREN'T A WHOLE LOT OF GOOD ONES PLAYING SO I JUST PICKED ONE HOPING I WOULDN'T BE DISSAPOINTED. I WASN'T, 8 SECONDS IS THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN, OR WILL EVER SEE. IT TOUCHED ME DEEPER THEN ANY MOVIE EVER HAS, LANE FROST WAS THE BEST BULL RIDER IN THE WORLD NOT JUST BECAUSE OF HIS AWARDS BUT BECAUSE OF HIS PERSONALITY, HIS KINDNESS, HIS GENEROSITY, HIS LOVE FOR THE FANS, AND HIS FAMILY. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT LANE FROST, I THINK WATCHING THE MOVIE AND READING THE BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER, THERE IS NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK ABOUT LANE FROST AND WHAT A SPECIAL PERSON HE WAS AND HOW SORRY I AM THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIM UNTIL AFTER HIS DEATH, BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE DONE ANYTHNG TO BE ABLE TO MEET AND SEE HIM IN PERSON. I CAN'T TELLYOU ENOUGH HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT THIS TO PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND MY FRIENDS AREN'T INTO ANY THING LIKE THIS, THEY DON'T LIKE LISTENING TO COUNTRY MUSIC, AND MY BEST FRIEND LAUGHES AT ME WHENEVER I MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT RODEO OR SOMETHING COUNTRY. I HAVE WATCHED THIS MOVIE OVER FIFTY(YES THAT'S 50) TIMES, THE FUNNY THING IS THAT I HAVE RENTED IT EVERY SINGLE TIME(THAT'S ALOT OF MONEY, BUT WELL WORTH IT). I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE TO BUY, AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF I LOST MY COPY OF THE BOOK. ANY BODY KNOW A GOOD PLACE TO FIND BOTH! I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING IF I COULD HAVE SEEN LANE FROST RIDE A BULL IN PERSON I'M SURE HE WAS MAGNIFICENT. ONE MORE THING I THINK LUKE PERRY DID A FANTASTIC JOB ACTING IN THIS MOVIE, NOW THAT I REMEMBER I CHOSE THIS MOVIE BECAUSE HE WAS THE STAR, THIS FAR SURPASSES BEVERLY HILLS 90210. I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS MY FEELINGS FOR LANE FROST, AGAIN THE BOOK AND MOVIE WILL ALWAYS BE MY NUMBER ONES. END
Rating: Summary: A Legend Review: I would have to say that 8 seconds is one if my favorite movies. I watch it over and over and cry every time, it never fails. Lane Frost is the best bull rider I know, he is definately the man. He had a lot nuts to keep on riding and don't give up, he had more nuts than Red Rock. Luke Perry was perfect in playing the part of Lane Frost. Every time I see the movie I think about my cousins, friends, and the guys that I don't know and pray the God nothing like that happens.Lane Frost really deserves to be in The Hall of Fame. May God bless his family for holding up.
Rating: Summary: A solid ride Review: When this movie first came out, I did not know who Lane Frost was. After I saw it, however, I wish I would have known him. This film may come off as sort of sugary sweet to some, but adultery, drinking, fighting and cussing don't seem so sugary to me. Mr. Frost had faults. He was human. But he prevailed where others have failed. That is what make him a hero and Luke Perry's portrayal of Mr. Frost exemplifies that. This movie suffers from a few inaccuracies, but those inaccuracies help move this film along at a pace that non-rodeo people can enjoy. The acting is fine, and that's really Luke Perry on some of those bulls. You've got to give the guy a nod for that. The soundtrack is also very influential on the look and feel of this movie. "Once In Awhile" by Billy Dean is the pinnacle performance in this movie, and if you're eyes don't well up when you hear it, you've got no heart inside. This is a decent family movie, although some younger kids probably shouldn't be exposed to some of the language and the adultery. It should be noted, however, that these things are key in making this a real story. This is a solid movie about a real man, full of heart and fault, yet still a hero to us all.
Rating: Summary: Awesome movie! Review: I just recently watched this movie, and even though it's almost 10 years old, it is an amazing movie. From top to bottom. At the end credits, when it shows the stills and live footage of Lane Frost with Bill Conti's music, it becomes a tear-jerker very quickly. I was truly touched by this movie. I never had any interest in bull riding of any kind, but this movie made a world unknown to me come to life. Great movie.
Rating: Summary: This movie is SO awesome!! Review: 8 Seconds is, by far, my most favorite movie! I love the actors, the roles they play, and the whole story is very, very good. Also, the fact that it's based on a true story just makes it really touch your heart, and it's very easy to get caught up in not just the movie, but the people's lives in this story. I don't often go to rodeo's, but this movie gets me real pumped up to go watch some bull riding! It's very inspiring, and I recommend it to anybody who loves a good movie!
