Summary: Costner's greatest film since Robin Hood
Review: This movie has a great way of making you smile and cry. These elements come out of no where (in a good way), as opposed to a typical set-up. The ending isn't very creative and has been seen a thousand times before. However, the rest of the movie makes up for its small short coming. Kevin Costner hasn't made a better movie since Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. This tearjerker will make you want to watch it all over again after its over.

Summary: Makes you realize what love really is!
Review: The movie is fantastic! I missed it at the theater but watched it in video and I loved it! I think everyone who is in love or has fallen in love (and lost!)can see himself/herself in Garett/Theresa. This is surely for those who have love in their hearts!

Summary: Beautiful scenery, interesting premise, but.......
Review: What starts as an intesting idea becomes fairly predictable..... When will he find out?.....How mad will he be???... Will he forgive?.... However, the later scene with Costner in the boat upon the stormy sea is of the quality one would expect from All My Children. The ending ruined what was a harmless, enjoyable film

Summary: A romantic must see with your significant other!!!
Review: This movie is wonderful! Kevin Costner plays a man who losthis wife 2 years ago and how much he's still in love with her to thatday. I can only hope that my husband would be so devoted and in love with me when I pass away. The movie is elegantly set on the seashore for most of the movie which gives a snuggley ambiance as you're watching the movie. There is an excellent twist ending and is guaranteed a tear jerker!

Summary: Loved it!!!
Review: Missed it at the theatre. Watched it on video. Will watch it again and again! Kevin Costner has matured and improved, he was great. Paul Newman, (as sexy as ever) was fantastic. The two greatly complimented each other. And Robin Wright was the best I've ever seen her. This may be a multi-tissue movie, for the sadness and loss of it all. But the residual feeling you are left with is a warm glow. A thought of what could be possible for every one of us, if we only allow it.

Summary: I LOVED IT!
Review: I first read the book by Nicholas Sparks. Then the movie came out. I waited to rent it, and now I am sorry that I waited so long! This is one of the better movies that I have seen. Although the critics gave it bad reviews, I thought that it was excellent! However, it does follow the saying "Don't judge a book by it's movie." They do change some of the main facts about the story-line, but it did make the movie go along well.

I would recommend this movie to anyone!

Summary: If you read the book, don't rent the video
Review: I read the book twice. The movie has been changed so much you won't even recognize it. They even changed Theresa's son's name, for what reason I cannot imagine. You will be terribly disappointed if you are expecting a romantic widower in Kevin Costner's portrayal of Garrett. They turned him into this bitter crotchety jerk. A silly subplot about Garrett and a feud with Catherine's family has been added, again, I cannot imagine why, unless the producers were looking to fill space. I did not care for Robin Wright Penn's portrayal of Theresa. There wasn't any chemistry. At the end there is a needless death. You will be staring at the screen thinking, Why in the world did they do THAT? Don't waste your money on this one! You will be sorely disappointed.

Summary: Costner plays stoic quite recluse, a real stretch
Review: Yes it is the same role as the Mariner, the Postman, Wyatt Earp, A Perfect World and others Costner has played. The good news is it works here too. This is an endearing story of a woman (Robyn Wright Penn) who discovers a message in a bottle. It is a goodbye letter to Costner's wife after she has died. She is instantly attracted to the poet author of the note, and seeks him out. He turns out to be a ship builder who lives alone except for visits from his father, another powerful performance from Paul Newman. This is a fairy tale like story, but with a darkly ironic ending which turned me off. Of course it's not the first love story to end in such a way, but then I never like it when it does.

Summary: Go Home and Kiss Your Loved One
Review: Message in a Bottle made me appreciate everything I have in my relationship, even the annoying day to day things that tend to get the better of us all sometimes. Message made me realize that love is timeless, but time together on this earth is NOT and we must stop and make the best of every moment we are blessed with when we are able to share them with those we love. Kevin Costner is convincing as a struggling widower, Ms. Wright is adorable as a nervous woman falling in love, and of course, Paul Newman steals every scene he is in with his charm and wit. Watch this video with someone you love, then tell them how much they mean to you!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Realistic and hopeful!!
Review: I thought they did a wonderful job turning this story into a movie. Kevin Costner and Robin Wright Penn did a wonderful job!! I can't believe how much they really did resemble and react like the characters did in the book. It was a wonderful experience to read the book and see the movie. The sailing scenes were funny and inspiring. I will definitely buy this movie!!!.
