Rating: Summary: Loved the movie! Review: I loved this movie! The best love story I've ever seen. The soundtrack is just as good, but the only thing that I didn't like was they didn't put that Maxwell song on the Soundtrack. Does anyone know the name of the song that Maxwell was singing during the first love scene. If you can help you can email me at jazzylenah@hotmail.comThanks

Rating: Summary: The best love story in a long time Review: There is just something about this movie. The first time that I saw it, I immediatly thought it was a terrific movie, one of the best love stories in a long time. The way that a woman's story is a main part in this movie makes it to be a great change from the basketball movies that we have had in the past, with the male's side only. The strong will of Monica, the main actress (played by Sanaa Lathan) made this movie even more appealing. There is a great storyline and it is perfectly layed out with the "four quarters of their life." I recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for a movie about basketball that is actually worth watching. Love and Basketball is definantly one of my favorites.
Rating: Summary: Surprising & emotional, Love & Basketball definitely scores. Review: Quite surprisingly, the Spike Lee-produced released Love & Basketball is an excellent film. It may have a note of corniness during some scenes, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the best sleeper hits of 2000. The film's drama is great and the romance has brilliant chemistry and all the elements stick nicely together thanks to the acting - particularly from amazing newcomer Sanaa Lathan - and Gina Price's clean direction. The scenes I thought were particularly nail-biting were the basketball matches between the two lead characters, the final one-on-one is tense and unpredictable. Also seeing Monica's (Lathan) thoughts when playing basketball was clever and original. All the characters have a good-bad side them, you relate to them, which make these similar but totally different (you'll understand after viewing) creations the best about the film. Come to think of it, this movie shouldn't have the title Love & Basketball. It should have the title Love, Basketball, Family, Gender Roles, Sex, Cheating... and so forth and so forth. This movie deals with so many things in such a great style that the viewer should know just how great its going to be so they don't get literally blown away! A definite recommendation.
Rating: Summary: L&B Review: Love & Basketball is a bit of a chick flick, or a date flick, but the storyline which did not inlcude the love bits was great. The basketball scenes were brilliant, and that was the only real reason that i watched this film. Omar Epps is good and is a feel good film.
Rating: Summary: More than just a typical love story Review: Love & Basketball is not all that bad. The TV Guide's review does not really does its justice. Granted, it has a cliché story line of boy/girl growing up together and falling for each other, but there are enough twist and turns to keep things interesting. There are many layers of relationships that one has to watch more than once to be able to peal all of them back and understand them. There is the man/woman relationship in the African American community and the more general depiction of masculine/feminine gender role. What happen when one has to go conformity? What happens when it becomes too hard to be the one who stands out, the one who excels abut remains lonely? What happens when parental expectation becomes too overbearing? That is just some of the problems that the lead characters have to deal with.
Rating: Summary: I would rate this one 10 stars Review: WOW! What a refreshing movie. This was a wonderful love story and the chemistry between Omar and Sanaa is unreal...it's the kind of chemistry that just moves you. Lathan did an outstanding job at playing a ball player and of course Omar is awesome. Actually, I really enjoyed all the characters and would highly recommend that you see this movie....you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Gina Prince-Bythewood scores a slam dunk! A Must See!! Review: Gina Prince-Bythewood's first major film production (writer/director) in my opinion is a masterpiece. I would not change a thing about this movie. Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan are totally believable in this movie: and guess what? THEY ARE A REAL COUPLE IN REAL LIFE! I don't know if they got together as an end result of working together on this movie, but the energy and emotion that comes through on-screen is palpable and extremely powerful. I also think that the title of this movie is so apt in that its storyline encompasses the two very things that this movie is about, in that order. The acting by the supporting cast is also exceptional, particularly Alfre Woodard's protrayal of the female lead's mother. I just can't say enough about this movie. The ending, although predictable, is nevertheless extremely satisfying and appropriate. I just wish I had had a chance to see this movie when it was in the theaters. My final verdict: BUY THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW. If you enjoyed movies like The Best Man and/or The Wood, you'll love this movie. It transcends race and should appeal to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie! Review: This is my all time favorite movie, I must have seen if 20 times and still can watch it over and over!
Rating: Summary: This Was my Autobiography...kinda Review: This movie took me back to my ball playing days when I worked hard on the court, and looked hard for love. It reminds me of loves I once had and lost as well as victories that meant the world to me! It was cute, poignant, and a genuinely enjoyable love story about the intricacies of where the game of basketball and the challenge of love can take a person's soul.
