Rating: Summary: It's wonderful! Review: Far and Away is one of the best romantic movies out. It's one of my favorites.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie; OK DVD Review: This is a great movie. It is not historically acurate, but is inspiring to the dreamers among us. It is exciting, has great scenery, and is romantic. It's no surprise that it is romantic since Tom Cruise and Nichole Kidman were dating at the time of the filming. (They are married now.) As a DVD, it is sub par. There are hardly any extra features, and you can only view the DVD in widescreen. I soon forgot about that though, when I was engrossed in the story.
Rating: Summary: An American Romeo and Juliet Review: Throughout the years the movie industry has re-wrote the undying love of Romeo and Juliet over and over. This is a good one, though. Cruise acts as the boy full of american dreams, just like every pioneer of the country. He is full of life, hope, and enthusiasm. He falls in love with the one woman he shouldn't be falling in love with -is this destiny, or is it the power of love? It shall be left for the audience to decide. Both leading actors show excellence in performance, and the plot not only brings historical memories, but also delights audience with the sweet romance.

Rating: Summary: A great story combined with great actors. Excellent movie! Review: A story of how a young Irish man endured and overcame hardship in his life while at the same time found the love of his life. One of the few movies where both Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise are together. So far, the best one of all of them.
Rating: Summary: A movie that has a Good story and Scenes Review: This movie did not do to well in the box office. I don't know why, it's very well done and it has one of the best directors/ actors (Tom Cruise, Nichole Kidman). Ron Howard directs this movie and he directed "Apollo 13", "Ransom", "Backdraft", and "The Paper" as well. Tom Cruise has a convincing Irish accent in this movie, much better than Brad Pitt(Devil's Own). The music is done by the famous composer: John Williams (Star Wars Trilogy, Indiana Jones movies, Jurassic Park). This movie, for some reason (I don't know why) reminds me of James Cameron's "Titanic". The story is very similiar, only there is no boat involved except the one shown when they arrive to America. The music at the end is very similar to one of "Titanic's" theme songs. An excellent DVD that should not be overlooked.
Rating: Summary: This is a terrific movie! Review: Whether you like this movie or not, depends on whether you care for the charactors. I did. This was a fun movie that is a treat to watch. I will never understand why so many film critics want to dump on it, but praise to the moon a truly boring movie like "Shane". This is a fun movie that pleased the people who actually pay for their tickets. That's good enough for me!
Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: I liked this movie very much, it was a wonderful story! I could watch it over & over! The music is great too!
Rating: Summary: WHY BOTHER? Review: Far And Away has some beautiful scenery. Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise look good. That's the good news. The bogus plot has..never mind, it's too painful for words. Was the dialogue coach for this dog Tony Curtis, bringing back his triumph in Ivanhoe. I'd walked out of movies before, but never insisted on a refund, especially from a theatre owner I consider a friend. I gave it 2 stars be- cause 8-10 year olds might enjoy it, though they may find it farfetched. Normally I like Cruise & Kidman, but I think Harvey the Pookah could have brought more to the picnic in the role of a stereotypical poor Irish lad triumphing over adversity & getting the rich girl. Watch for its release in thrilling 3-D Betamax, which is where it should stay.
Rating: Summary: Do you have a craving for strawberry tart? Review: Watch this movie to find out where that line comes from.In 1892-93, Tom Cruise is poor Joseph in Ireland and Nicole Kidman is rich Shannon from the same country. Their fake accents are collectively awful. Cruise sounds like a wannabe leprechaun. Together they run off to America where they tell the landlord they are brother and sister so they can share the rent. Joseph becomes a boxer and wins big in the ring. Shannon decides to be a dancehall girl. Although they profess to hate each other, you know where that storyline is going to end. It is, after all, Cruise and Kidman in their heyday. I did like the homesteading scene at the end -- where people raced across the plains and made their claims to land. I hadn't known about that piece of history before. Nicely done, Ron Howard!
