Summary: A Haunting Struggle With Mental Illness.
Review: John Forbes Nash is a brilliant mathematician. He won The Nobel Prize in 1994. And he also suffers from Schizophrenia.

A Beautiful Mind tells his story, from College to the present. I have never seen Mental Illness so realistically depicted in any medium, be it film or prose. I won't say anything about the film itself; there are some AMAZING surprises along the way, and anything I might say would only ruin them. I'll just praise Director Ron Howard, Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, and stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, & Ed Harris. They are all outstanding, with Crowe in particular being Oscar-worthy for his portrayal of the tortured Nash.

Upon leaving the Theater, I was thinking that A Beautiful Mind was one of the best pictures that I have ever seen. Very Impressive, indeed!

Summary: A Beautiful, touching and moving Film
Review: I went into A Beautiful Mind with doubts. I was wary of the hype it had recieved thus far and even more wary of the hype the actors Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly had recieved.
The films opening featured a most beautifully scored song entitled "A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics" that ensnared me immediately. With the score adding a few points immediately I settled in for the ride. I was pleasantly pleased with what I found along the way.
Crowe's performance as John Nash was far from a disappointment. It was touching, loving and extremely real. His stress and anguish shined above what could be expected of him and his sincere understanding of the setbacks in his characters life aided him in giving a wonderful performance. Jennifer Connelly portrayed Nash's wife with vigor and deep sentimentality. My heart ached for her as she tried with all her might to understand her husbands problems. Her determination to make the love between Alicia and John seem real was truly beautiful.

The second half of the film was filled with those magical movie moments where you see the real truth shine through and it touches you as a viewer so deeply. I shed quite a large number of tears in sadness and happiness for this film and it's characters. It is a stunning love story between a troubled man and his wife. And it is a love story between the audience and the entirity of itself as a film. It is a film that I hope will help others understand the struggles in the lives of others. It certainly opened my eyes and let light shine through.
I recommend this movie to those who are true fans of films, to those with an open and caring mind and heart. If you have these qualities and wish to see a captivating film, go see A Beautiful Mind, you should not be disappointed.

Summary: Whats your true original idea??
Review: This is a movie that you realy want to watch it over and over again, you discover a new thing each time, for example why didnt the birds fly while the girl was running into them on the green fields as john saw her, and why the people were looking at him in a strange way while he was talking to his friends.

It is said that the movie isnt the true match of john nash life accordding to the book or to the biaography, regardless if we took the movie alone, its a classic, a movie that tells a story of a man who was pushed by his ambitions and detirmination to cross the lines and to exceed the limit.

Iam NOT a director,a film maker, or a critic..am only an ordinary person who watched the film and after that i started thinking about it... after all isnt that the whole idea of watching a movie, to leave with an impression about what you watched, to force your mind to think and review what you have been setting and watching for two hours.

- After you watched the movie,Did you think about the original idea you want in your life,Did you realy changed the definition of the word sruggel and success, Are you willing to take your self beyaound limits for what you belive in.

- directing, actting the sound track it was so great and almost perfect , but for russel crow i think he was extraordinary, and try not to comapre the movie with the book, that isnt fair for the movie nor to the book, the movie is only two hours, YOU CANT TELL A ONE MAN LIFE IN TWO HOURS,INSTED ITS WHAT YOU CAN TELL IN THOSE TWO HOURS?

In John Nash life, those two hours were about about ambition, deternmination, vision, strugle, love, hope and finaly..success.

If we tried to take a moment..just one moment..and think...Think with the whole picture in our minds, we can see that the true plot of the movie
is orientied on that "Original Idea"..the effort of a man to come up with a true original idea, his seek and effort forced him to exceeds the limits, and keep in mind that what you watched was a true story.

A Beatufuil mind is a true "Original Movie", which does its job by leaving you wondering and asking questions.

I think its also a great movie becuase its the kind that youll watch it again and again, it leaves an impression and leaving an impression is somthing rare in these days movies.

Summary: Amazing Acting, Unexpectable Plot, Exellent Movie
Review: Russel Crowe plays in A Beatiful Mind as a schizophrenic mathematical genius with a flair for seeing patterns and codes (sometimes where there are none). In Gladiator, Crowe was painfully melodramatic for his role, but in this case, his acting was abosoloutly perfect. The paranoia and delusional behavior of a schizophrenic is very well-portrayed desipite the difficult nature of it. As for the movie itself, the movie-goer is smartly pulled into the delusions until they are revealed to be, in fact, delusions. This gives the audience the sense of surprise that John Nash would feel as he learns that all he has been doing was a lie. The occasional light comedy aspect of the film also brings a lightheartedness to an otherwise depressing subject. Much like Fight Club, this is a movie you must see twice; Once when you know nothing of what is going on, and then again once you know what is truth and what is untruth. In general, this film is a heartwarming story of one man overcoming innumerable odds and emerging victorious over himself.

Summary: Great performances but oversimplification of schizophrenia
Review: Was interested in seeing this movie after viewing an interview of Ron Howard by Charlie Rose on PBS. I've enjoyed a number of his films in the past, and wondered how he would tackle this complex story. I was so swept away by his delusions, I was disappointed to learn that they were mere products of his imagination. Had heard talk of the psychological community not fully appreciating this film because it gives the false impression that schizophrenia is curable, when most cases are in fact not. Still, an engaging movie, and I was surprised to see so many viewers in Honolulu for what I thought might be a "hard sell". Due to the strength of his performance, Russell Crowell carries the film, and for this should be applauded. I attended the film with a classmate who teaches courses in psychology, and she agrees with my assessment.

Summary: A potentially beautiful film turned ugly in its deceit.
Review: Sorry, but while great film has the responsibility for excellence in script, direction, acting and cinematography, when it lies by selective ommissions from truth, it is propoganda, not art.
Biographer SYLVIA NASAR has defended screenwriter AKIVA
GOLDSMAN's decision to omit certain details about mathematician JOHNFORBES NASH from his film A BEAUTIFUL MIND.
Fans of the GOLDEN GLOBE-winning writer's biography about the former schizophrenic have criticized both Goldsman and the movie's director RON HOWARD for ignoring significant aspects of Nash's life - including his homosexual tendencies, that he fathered an illegitimate child and that he and his wife ALICIA divorced shortly after his schizophrenia was diagnosed.
In the film, JENNIFER CONNELLY, who plays Alicia, stands by her troubled husband's side throughout his mental problems, and Nash, played by RUSSELL CROWE, is portrayed as an upstanding and resolutely heterosexual man.
Sorry folks, but without truth there's no beauty when beauty proports to be truth and not fantasy. .

Summary: A Beautiful (and Brilliant) Movie!
Review: "A Beautiful Mind" is a cinematic triumph for director Ron Howard, lead actor Russell Crowe and every member of the cast and crew that made this gem! In the film we are introduced to the character of John Nash, a brilliant, yet reclusive mathematician. The viewer begins to see the world from the perspective of the mathematical genius. We follow him through his schooling to Princeton and later MIT. There is an intriguing subplot that begins to emerge. I will not reveal it to you, but I will say that it is very well, and suspensefully developed by director Howard and acted by Crowe and the ensemble cast. It will shock you, but you will cheer on Nash as he triumphs in the midst of incredible adversity and learns ultimately that love is all that really matters. This is a profound story of an exceptional human being overcoming tremendous challenges, and it is Ron Howard's BEST film yet! The soundtrack by Howard Shore is great as well, featuring the soaring, angelic voice of Charlotte Church. This is one of the best films of the year without a doubt!
