Rating: Summary: Cute, sweet chick flick Review: I thought this film was pretty decent. However, Keanu's acting was terrible and dry. All in all, the film was pretty cute and held my interest. The ending is a tearjerker, so bring your kleenex. Keanu is no Cary Grant as a leading love interest, but Charlize Theron pulls off her role well.
Rating: Summary: Waste of time and money Review: The worst movie I saw this year. Completely implausible the way the characters evolve.
Rating: Summary: A pointless remake of Love Story Review: We already saw the subject in countless other versions, starting with Love Story and continuing more recently with Autumn in New York. Finding the perfect significant other, but she/he has a terminal disease. This particular movie doesn't bring anything really new to the theme, compared to the previous ones, except for the incredibly charming two main characters, both beautiful and good actors.
Rating: Summary: A quirky love story Review: Keanu Reeves is an uptight, type-A, self-centered ad executive. He meets a girl at traffic court who is spontaneous, happy-go-lucky and loving. She offers to take him on for a month and teach him to relax and enjoy life. He resists until his life becomes a shambles and he doesn't have any better offers. Day, by day Reeves' character begins to thaw and inevitably falls in love with Theron. He then discovers the reason for her reluctance to extend the relationship beyond a month and has to do some soul searching to decide what to do about it. There are cliches and many predictable moments, but basically this is an enjoyable love story.
Rating: Summary: Not bad. Cute Romance. Bad ending. Review: I have got to say-I am a big fan of Keanu-san, and romance movies. I thought "Sweet November" was a great combination. Charlize Theron was great, and she makes great chemistry with Keanu-sama, just like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The story was awfully cute, and sad. The message the movie brings is touching: It's better to love someone for a short while, then not love them at all. Great acting. Great Screenplay. I am sure the old version is as good as this one. So if you have chocie of watching "Here on Earth" and "Sweet November", pick "Sweet November", both movies have the sam moral, but "Sweet November" is more romantic and cuter than "Here on Earth".
Rating: Summary: Liked Reeves & Theron; Script Is a Problem Review: Contrary to what others may say, I do think Keanu Reeves can be a good romantic leading man. Much to my surprise, I also saw here that Charlize Theron may have quite a bit more acting ability than most former models do. I think the two do a very good job with these roles and they kept me watching this film to the end. If I used letters, I'd probably go with a C+ overall. What works against them is the script which is way over the top, with a terminally ill woman, Theron, taking on a different man every month, to show him how to value life, something she does not have much more of. Reeves is the man for November. The month idea is pretty good fantasy wise. How many women would turn down a month of Keanu Reeves? In their heart of hearts, I suspect not many. The way this illness is handled is preposterous though and the scriptwriters must have spent too much time zoned out in La-La land as opposed to investigating terminal patients as they wound into their story pitch. I also wonder if they've ever been around anyone who was dying and experienced that person's requests and desires towards the end. Frankly, I doubt it. I don't regret seeing it but the script really does need work.
Rating: Summary: a sad drama love story Review: I loved this movie. I thought it had some comidy some drama lots of romance and a lot of sadness/drama. But it was really good, and i loved the acting. Charleze Thron was the best Kenue Reeves was a little rusty in the biggining but in the middle got really good.
Rating: Summary: the dishwasher !! Review: I could tolerate most of the illogical anguished drama (hell, I could forgive Charlize Theron anything), but then they lost me completely with the dishwasher!!
Rating: Summary: BAD BAD Ending Review: I'm a guy, and don't generally appreciate "Chick Flicks," but this one started out all right. My wife wanted to see this movie, and I'll admit- I like Theron and Reeve's chemistry in Devil's Advocate, although their relationship in that movie ended even worse then theirs in this picture. I went to see the movie, and it had an enjoyable enough beginning as the cliche's of the movie were Hammered into the audience.Reeve's character is a stiff suit, obsessed with himself, his talent and his career- he Lives for his job, and is not a healthy person. He is wholly self- absorbed, and has no real love for anyone but himself; his success at work is driven by his desire to satisfy his ego. He is obsessed with satisfying himself, by distancing himself as far as possible from his humble beginnings. Theron's character is a flighty lovable leftist- PeTA type who liberates huggable puppies from evil experimental labs and gives them happy homes... . They are "better off" for having met her. Basically, she's a ...who shacks up with a guy to show him how twisted his life is without having Heavy amounts of leftist vitality. Granted, the character is a LOT more likeable than that of Any of Reeve's characters business partners, and her quirks are all lovable- but the viewer must realize that her intentions are flawed; she doesn't make any room for real love... After the characters are detailed, and after they fall in love, the message of the movie self- destructs. Reeve's finds out Theron is dying. Theron displays incredible selfishness by distancing herself from Reeves. She shuts him out, because she doesn't want him to see her as weak, basically rejecting Reeves love. Reeves goes to great lengths to see Theron, and eventually succeeds, forcing her to talk to him (Stalker!). He proposes marriage, and she rejects him. She admits she is dying, and wants him to leave her alone- forcing him to give up his love for her. It seems all hope is lost, and eventually- both characters give up all hope for a miracle recovery, and decide that even though they're MADLY in love, it's best if they never see each other again. Who in their right mind would shut out their loved ones during their last days? Ironically, throughout the movie, Theron's character was doing just that. She had been refusing to see her family, because she didn't want Them to see her dying... at the end of the movie, she decides to allow them to see her, but STILL shuts Reeves out. She trades one bit of faulty logic for another. The movie seems to say, "It's ok to shut out the people who you love when you're dying. There is no hope for recovery from terminal illness. When you're dying, romantic love is too tragic to deal with..." If I were in Reeve's characters position, and I allowed her to walk away at the end of the movie- I'd hate myself forever... If I were Theron's character, and realized I'd only have one more minute to live, I probably would agonize during that last minute- wishing I'd be able to hold my loved ones hand... Maybe it's just me, but I think this movie just ended terribly.
Rating: Summary: If you ever find yourself trapped on a plane Review: you might just find yourself watching this. It was neither good nor bad. It's one of those movies that you won't feel you missed anything if you don't see it. Charlize Theron is an extremely talented actress, but I'd rather see her in interesting roles like in The Devil's Advocate. Keanu Reeves is still just another pretty face. This movie is not especially original (see: Love Story and Autumn in New York) nor exceptionally well acted, although Chaz (downstairs neighbor) and the kid whose name escapes me are great characters. The plane landed before I could see the end, and I dozed off somewhere in the middle, but I really don't think I missed anything. If you're looking for a tear jerker, rent Legends of the Fall or Last of the Mohicans. The stories are much more interesting and at least Brad Pitt and Daniel Day Lewis are pretty boys with acting talent.
