Review: This cd is just like the movie, exceptional.

To be honest, Otto Titsling is my favorite song--it makes me smile and it's funny to have people stare when I sing it in my car, stopped at a light.

Under The Boardwalk would have to be my least favorite, probably because I like the original so much, and this has a different feel.

Wind Beneath My Wings, of course, is a sensation in its self. If ever a friend has done something truly special for you, this song should be played in tribute.

I've Still Got My Health, is like the whole CD, too short. It's a jumpy little song that gets me going when I'm not feeling so happy with the world, because as it plays, "...I've still got my health, so what do I care?"

Baby Mine, a remake of the Disney song from Dumbo, always makes me cry. I bought this soundtrack just before my nephew was born, and to rock him to sleep with this song repeating, will always last in my memory.

The Glory of Love. What can I say? It makes me wish I were a child. And though it would have nice to have young CeCe's version included, it's interesting to see that the song grew and changed meaning, a bit, as CeCe grew.

Honestly, I prefer the soundtrack to the movie, I could listen to it every day, while the movie I couldn't watch more than once a year without tiring quite quickly.

Summary: Memories
Review: This movie means a lot to me. When I was in Grade 4, at the end of the school term, my great pal, Joyce, had to leave and go to HKIS (Hong Kong International School). Being about 8 or 9, I didn't understand why her mum would want to take her out of Marymount, my primary school. But this movie proved to me that one day, friends will part. Now, Joyce and I are still friends, and I will never forget what this movie had shown to me.

BEACHES, I would recommend it to ppl whose friends have passed away. To me, this movie cured the 'sickness' when Joyce left. Now, we both are in P.6, and we still write to each other. I guess this has helped a lot of people, not just me.

Ms. Bette and Ms. Barbara did a great job in putting the show together. Everyone in my family said that. I don't just guess; I KNOW that this is worth watching. My grade? A

Summary: Simply A Great Movie
Review: I watched this movie when I was a teenager. As a boy, I didn't really like shows that made people cry. However, since Beaches is about friendship, I gave it a try. I didn't regret it. Never did a movie have such an impact on me, it made you realise how great the feeling is to have good friends around you even when you are grown up. As most people knew, the most touching scene is when the song Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler was sung towards the end of the movie. I cried! Since then, I had been waiting for it to be broadcasted on the TV again. And, after such long wait, it is finally coming out in DVD! I think I'm one of the first to pre-order this. For those who like such movies, please don't hesitate to get it. It sure worth your collection.

Summary: Acceptible - Should be given a chance
Review: I first watched this when it was released in theatre. There were lots of tears in the theatre and lots of people were deeply involved. This is drama at its best.

Good for a good cry. If you feel like one.

Should be given a chance.

Oh, and Bette does some of her best songs ever on this movie.

Summary: Very Touching
Review: I bought this movie when it first came out on VHS in 1988 and have had to buy 2 since then because I wore them out. ... The plot of this movie about 2 girls that met at an audition and became the best of friends is really compelling. They overcame many obstacles and disturbances. The song "Wind Beneath My Wings" was sang at my father's funeral. Great! I love Bette Midler.

Summary: the most memorable movie you'll ever see
Review: I have seen this movie many times, and I've gotta say that it's one of my very favorites. It is, however, very heartrending, and if you don't like sad movies, then I would recommend a different movie because this movie just absolutely PULLS at your heart. Obviously, it is a story about friendship and the continuous struggles which come from it. This beautiful movie profiles two remarkable women--masterfully portrayed by Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey--who survive some heavy-duty problems in their friendship and come out of it together. Clearly, they would not have gotten anywhere in this relationship if they hadn't held their heads up and pushed through it, which shows that even the strongest friendships require courage all the way through. Basically, "Beaches" is just a great movie that gives the word "friendship" a whole new meaning. Watch it now, and be prepared to cry buckets and learn a whole lot about what true friendship is.

Summary: Absolutely beautiful and touching
Review: This may very well be the saddest movie I have ever seen in my life, but it is also one of the best. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend that you do. It tells the story of two young women who meet when they are 11 years old. At a glance, they seem like two completely different people, but in the end, it's their strong devotion to their friendship that make them so close. Bette Midler does an excellent job in her portrayal as CC Bloom, a feisty redhead who is determined to succeed in music and will do almost anything to do so. Hilary Whitney, played by the talented Barbara Hershey, is a quiet, reserved woman who often finds herself jealous of CC's rising success. CC and Hilary may be very different, but they grow even closer when Hilary gives birth to a child--a beautiful little girl named Victoria. When Hilary becomes diagnosed with a fatal disease, she is forced to search her soul and strengthen her relationships with CC and Victoria. Throughout the movie, CC and Hilary go through many difficult times, but in the end, their friendship prevails. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone, but don't expect to have dry eyes at the end! It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it will touch every piece of your heart. It really does show that even though two friends may be very different from one another, and even though they may go through a lot of rough times, it is the strength of their friendship that will be the decisive element. Go see this movie--you won't be sorry!

Summary: Grab a hankie
Review: Many people will tell you to watch this movie with your best friend and a box of kleenex, and they are absolutely correct. I give this movie only 3 stars because that's exactly what it's supposed to do. It uses every cliche in the book to create a sentimental chick flick that tugs on your heart strings.

That being said, it is an entertaining movie, Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey are enthralling, and their story will make you wanna call you best friens. It's also fun to see a young "Blossom" star in her early years playing young Bette Midler.

Summary: Beautiful And Inspiring
Review: Beaches is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it is one of my favorite. I have never seen such a captivating film about friends, and the trials and tribulations, the joys and fears, that go with the friendship. The music, is excellent. By far Bette's best music to date. On many tracks there is a resonance of sadness in each note. The standout obviously is the classic ballad "Wind Beneath My Wings", very uplifting, sad, but joyous at the same time. I sang it at a friend's funeral a few years ago. "Baby Mine", "The Friendship Theme" (instrumental) and "I Think It's Going To Rain Today" are all sad songs, that make you reflect on life (along with "Wind Beneath My Wings") and realize how precious and short our lives are, and how we shouldn't take it for granted. The fun side is shown through songs like "I've Still Got My Health" and "Otto Titsling". I also really like the cover of the Dolly Parton song "I Know You By Heart", its on Dolly's 1987 Rainbow album (out of print) and its a duet with Smokey Robinson. Overall though, this is a splendid album to listen to, its just brimming with quality material and talent. I also suggest you accompany this cd with the movie, absolutely a must see if you haven't seen it yet!
