Summary: Absolutely worth watching by a man or woman.
Review: While I have purchased a copy of this movie video. I first saw this movie when it was released on the big screen. I bought it because it has become one of my all time favorite movies. And as I often tell my wife, it is one of my favorites simply because it is the only one that has ever brought me to tears. Yes, you have a man's review of this movie and for somebody who has always been taught to keep his emotions in check this movie made me cry. But this movie also shows that while all things have and end there is also a new begining to look forward to.

Summary: Hair stories from the south.
Review: The female characters in this story would have made Varina Davis the flower of the confederacy, turn in her grave for their unsouthern & unladylike behaviour, especially the character of Ouiser Boudreaux played by Shirley MacLaine. But they do capture our attention, especially with the wedding preparations at the start. The six main actors give off wonderful performances and Julia Roberts is a scene stealer, for which she was deservedly nominated as best supporting actress. It is undoubtedly a 'chic flick' but guys will enjoy the humour too.Rent it out this weekend, invite your friends...and bring lots of tissues.

Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: This is certainly one of the best movies I have ever seen, excellent performances by all in it. With a combination like Sally Field,Olympia Dukakis and Shirley MacLaine you can't go wrong. Even with the sad ending this movie is great. I watch it at least once each month.

Summary: Movie is Terrific - Transfer to VHS is HORRIBLE!
Review: Don't purchase this movie! Steel Magnolias is a terrific movie, however the transfer is unwatchable! It's presented in EP mode and if your screen is any larger than 19" you will be very disappointed. You can't read the credits, the picture is blurry and the sound is garbled.

Summary: One of the best!
Review: This movie shows that women can get along through good times and bad. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you want to hug your mother or daughter and never let go.

Summary: you laugh and cry; you feel all emotions during this movie.
Review: One second you are laughing your head off, from Weezer's sarcastic comments. Or you are crying while Maylynn let's her feelings out at the funeral of her daughter. You are ensured that you will go through a roller coaster of emotions. It is a bitter sweet movie of loss, and gain. You are garanteed you will enjoy this movie.

Summary: I`m Surprised
Review: "Chick flicks" are films that I definitely do not find appealing, all that sentimentality and melodrama just turns me off. But I watched "Steel Magnolias" a few days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. Althought it`s one of the biggest chick flicks of the 80`s, I thought that it was a genuinely moving and funny film that shows just how strong and complex relationships between people can be, especially between mothers and daughters. The story was very, very simple (Southern women talk and gossip about their loves, fears and lessons that they have learned), but it was still compelling, and the acting by an all-star cast couldn`t have been better. Sally Field delivers a a great performance as a protective mother of an ailing woman, also played memorably by Julia Roberts. Although this film has the conventional journey through weddings, births, and funerals, it explored them with honesty, which made the one of the character`s tragic death at the end even more heartbreaking. I sincerely cannot find a single element in this movie that a non-cynical, sensitive person can not totally love. A witty, engaging and poignant film.

Summary: Excellent!!!!!
Review: Quite simply, this is one of the best films I have ever seen. I first saw this movie very shortly after the death of a family member, it helped me cope with my own loss. If I ever had to pick a list of favorite movies, Steel Magnolias would definitely be on there, I would like to see this movie released in DVD format with some deleted scenes, and interviews.

Summary: These Women Have Got What It Takes!
Review: Everytime I watch this movie I go through about a third of a box of tissue! Julia Roberts does an excellent job playing Shelby who suffers from a serious form of diabetes. Not just any actress can pull that off. Also the chemistry between the six actresses is superb. I'm just "tickled pink!"

Summary: I cried my eyes out.
Review: I loved the movie but it was sad, and I think that a movie that grips you and gets you so emotionally involved is obviously a wonderful film. There could not have been anything to make it better.
