Rating: Summary: ZERO STARS - incomprehensible movie - garbage Review: I don't understand this movie at all. What point was it trying to make. I've read all the reviews, including those by people like Ebert who loved this movie, and can't understand what in the world it is about. And why wouldn't DeNiro's character be thrown in jail at the end after shooting and killing those people? The film makes no sense at all. If it were possible to give a movie zero stars, this would be the one. Can anyone explain this film to me? (And normally I just love DeNiro, so it is not his acting, it is a script and story that makes no sense).
Rating: Summary: A very bad movie Review: I think that DeNiro should spend some of his money buying acting lessons. This was a waste of my time.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely amazing. Review: I have been wanting to see this movie for the longest time, and ususally when I do that, I end up hating the movie cause I hype it up too much. But not with Taxi Driver. This film was absolutely incredible. The best part is when Travis Bickle is testing his guns out! The thing he did with the gun slipping from his forearm to his hand is so awesome! Oh, and don't listen to Leonard Maltin. He has no idea what he's talking about. He's just mad cause he spends his whole life just sitting there and watching movies all day. Buy this movie cause I am really, really glad I did! Scorsese at his best! His second best movie (behind Raging Bull...or GoodFellas...Scorsese is just too great to pick a best!) Just bring a stomach for the end!
Rating: Summary: One awsome DVD Review: This is a really great DVD. The movie itself is excellent. The quality of the picture is excellent for a 1976 film, and the sound is really good. The sound is DD 2.0 and not 5.1, though I'm not complaining. The documentary is really good as well. You talking to me?
Rating: Summary: One of the best DVD's I own Review: Though the transfer could have been slightly better, seeing this movie in widescreen along with all the extras is worth it's price. The best feature on the disk is one that allows you to toggle between the movie and an on screen version of the screenplay
Rating: Summary: ENTER THE POWERFUL WORLD OF A TAXI DRIVER Review: Robert De Niro gives a brilliant performance as a lonely taxi driver who wants to help a 12 year old hooker. This has GOT to be one of the most powerful films around and its also one of the greatest as well. This haunting wake up call is brilliant and must be viewed by everyone who knows what great movies are made of. This film will absolutely change your world views and also change the way you see movies. Powerful to the end. A brilliant masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: You bet I'm talkin to you! Review: This is a fantastic DVD...it sets a standard for how other DVDs should be made. There are plenty of extras on the special edition release, including an hour long documentary about the making of the film, complete with interviews with Robert De Niro, Martin Scorcese, Harvey Keitel, Cybill Shepard, and Jody Foster (to name just a few). The picture and sound quality are excellent. A must have DVD!
Rating: Summary: TAXI DRIVER:the best of the best Review: Well Taxi Driver is probably on the best films ever made. The dialogue, directing, and acting is superb, and young Robert de Niro gives a magnificent performance as Travis Bickle, a lonely cabby who wants to be like other people. As time goes by, anger and confusion builds up in Travis as he drives the taxi and sees all the wrongdoings in the city. He buys a bevy of firearms and gets his strength built up. He meets a 12 and half year old prostitute and decides to get her out of the mess shes in, so he takes all his anger out on the scum of New York city in trigger-happy shooting act and saves the prostitute and becomes a hero. Its one hell of a good film and if you havent already seen it, buy it today, believe me, you won't regret it if you like great films. Bill Robinson, genius at work
Rating: Summary: not bad Review: We already have a Hindi Movie of the same name and content. Try your luck with a a different name and content.
Rating: Summary: The most Scorsese of Scorsese films. Review: This film is the ultimate potrait of one man driven by society to extreme and homicidal means. He builds up anger and builds up anger until he wants to do something about it, but what? Then he meets Jodie Foster and through her he uses his anger to help her. The direction on this film is amazing. A must for any Scorsese, DeNiro or Foster fan.
