Rating: Summary: Simply Magnificent! Review: "A Beautiful Mind" is one of those rare great films that makes you aware of its greatness even as you're watching it.From the incredible performances of Russel Crowe (if he doesn't get the Oscar nod this year, there's no justice) and the rest of the cast to the sensitive and compelling direction by Ron Howard, "Beautiful Mind" succeeeds on many different levels all at once; a case study of mental illness; the pressures of being cursed with genius; a sensitive and hauting love story, even as a political thriller of sorts. In an age where truly bad movies are constantly hyped as classics, "A Beautiful Mind" stands alone as the real thing.
Rating: Summary: A Very Beautiful and Touching Movie Review: This is positively one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. Russel Crowe (The Insider, Gladiator, Proof of Life) gives one of the best perfomances of his career. This movie deserves the four awards that it won and possibly the Best Actor Award if politics had not got in the way. It is very powerful and moving. And the message behind it is sweat and simple, "Love Conquers All." I highly recomend this movie to anyone who loves movies. It has just enough action and adventure as it does drama and comedy. It is an extreemly wonderful and vivid portrayal and is very entertaining. It even has a good shock value in the middle of the film for those who do not know anything of the story from the beginning. Well written and portrayed.

Rating: Summary: Mesmerizing Review: 'A Beautiful Mind' is one of the most heartwrenching, deeply emotional and moving films that I have ever seen. Russell Crowe gives his best peformace yet for a Golden Globe winning performance as John Nash, the nobel prize-winning schizophrenic math genius. Crowe's brutally honest performance sheds some light on the often misunderstood disease. I walked out of the theater in shock because of Russell Crowe's performance, it was truly touching. Nash's wife is played flawlessly by a wondrful Jennifer Connelly. Connelly brings genuine emotion and feeling into this key character. Connelly's performance also snagged her a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Ed Harris is also wondeful is his role. I won't talk too much about Harris's role for fear of giving something away! Akiva Goldsman's brilliant Golden Globe-winning screenplay has many of these sorts of surprises, twists and turns. Critically acclaimed director Ron Howard fills 'A Beautiful Mind' with geniune emotion and heart. I found myself personally touched by this film a number of times. It's pretty shocking how heartwrenching 'A Beautiful Mind' is at times. I found myself enveloped in tears along with my friends a number of times while watching this film. If a film can touch you in the way that 'A Beautiful Mind' did for me, you know that it must be a wonderful film. Fortunately, 'A Beautiful Mind' snagged the Best Drama award at the Golden Globes the other night beating out films such as 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' and 'In The Bedroom'. I also feel that the original score for this film by the legendary James Horner deserves some recognition. Read my review of this deeply-stirring Golden Globe nominated score.
Rating: Summary: An acting tour de force Review: In case the first hour or so of A Beautiful Mind doesn't convince the viewer that Russell Crowe is in the midst of one of the top academy award performances of the last two decades, the final half has to. The majesty and the depth of this man's ability to create and portray is without recent parallel. His total captivation of every nuance and his wringing every possible emotion out of the fiber of the character he plays is simply breathtaking. Crowe is well supported by a perfectly chosen and outstanding cast, and the film's direction by Ron Howard brings the whole incredible intensity of the finished product in one's face time and time again. The fairly quick shift from the patient who agrees to fight the delusions to the older man accepting the Nobel prize was done so well as to have one asking how it happened so smoothly: I was so mesmerized by the electrical performance Crowe was giving that I had to pinch myself to know the ending was there. Walking away from the theatre, I might as well have been on Mars due to the intense impact the film had made on my senses. Thinking back over his three most recent and incredibly different yet masterfully played roles, I can only wonder what Crowe can possibly do next to show even more depth: it doesn't seem humanly possible that one actor can have that much talent packed into one body. This should not be missed by anyone who prizes the ultimate levels of human achievement.
Rating: Summary: diappointed Review: Disappointing movie so I don't know why it won many accolades at the Golden Globes. Russell Crowe is a brilliant actor and his portrayal of a real schizophrenic mathematic genius was good. But Crowe's own seemingly charismatic, virile, and magnetic personality take away some believability. Jennifer Connelley gives a fine performance. Ed Harris and Christopher Plummer play minor characters but nevertheless are pleasure to watch. The guy who plays Nash's roommate "Charles" is entertaining as he did in the "Knights Tale". So I wonder why did this movie fell short of entertaining me? Maybe it took too long to tell a good story.
Rating: Summary: An Intelligent Film Review: Russell Crowe does a superb job depicting someone who is suffering from a dibilitating illness. I knew the plot and I'd studied John Nash but I was still caught off guard when the severity of his illness was revealed half way through the movie. While this movie lacks the edge-of-your-seat thrill that a film like Black Hawk Down delivers, it is an intelligent film nonetheless. Crowe is one of the finest actors to appear on the silver screen (I rank him up there with the likes of Tom Hanks and Jimmy Stewart) and this film is without a doubt one of the best released in recent years.
