Summary: Somewhere in Time
Review: This is one of the best movies Christopher Reeve ever did. It tells the story of a man in love, out of his own time. He learns of an experimental psychological method of travelling through time (which is a stretch at best) and goes in search of his one true love. The time travel element is the only thing that makes this movie scifi. It is a love story. Jane Seymour is spectacular as an early 20th century actress. Christopher Plummer is a wonderful antagonist and protector of the young Seymour. The characters in this movie are so well established that you cannot help but find yourself agonizing with them through their adventures and mishaps. I'm trying not to give anything away to those of you who haven't seen it. Hopefully, I've sparked your interest. You wouldn't be disappointed with this one.

Review: But it's still one of the best love stories I've ever seen. And the kiss in the doorway. . .in 1980 it was THE best movie kiss I'd ever seen. And it's still not bad in 2000. I bought in on VHS years ago and immediately bought the DVD when it was available. I still cry. Every time.

Review: I have heard about this movie but until today had never seen it, I just happened to switch on the wrong channel for the news, and it was just starting, and it was the music that made me sit down. It was wonderfully romantic and captivating.I am going to purchase it because I want to see it again and again.It reminded me of a book I once read called 'Time and time again', also in it's way a love story spanning a century.That love can be brief and yet so complete makes me realise that when one finds it, it can never be lost, it will return somehow.I have that sort of love, and seeing this movie made me so much more determined never to lose it.The Grand Hotel is where we intend to spend the most special time of our life, our honemoon...and what better place to seal a bond.

Review: This has to be one if not thee favorite movie of all time. The cinematography is absolutely breathtaking. Jane Seymour was so beautiful.I actually sat through this movie several times in one day!!

Review: This is a great movie. It is romantic without being maudlin. The plot involves lovers from two different eras in time and the tribulations which this situation presents. The three principal players -- Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Plummer -- are all excellent. The mood and atmosphere are both captivating and convincing, and the film score -- one of the best ever written -- is so appropriate, and gorgeous, that it significantly enhances the movie. This is on my personal top dozen films list.

Summary: The Greatest Love Story in the World
Review: This love story is worth more than 5 stars. The chemistry between Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour is unbelieveable!! They picked the most exceptional actors to make this great love story. We must remember that both of them were in their late 20's when this movie was made. It is too bad that Universal won't allow a sequel to be made, but if Christopher and Jane couldn't be in the sequel, then I guess it shouldn't be made. Why would we want a sequel without the 2 leading actors...it wouldn't be thinkable! The soundtrack to this movie is also breathtaking just like the movie. I love the music from the movie so much, that I used a few songs in my wedding. Just hearing a SIT song as I was walking down the aisle almost made me cry because it makes you think about the movie and the greatest love story ever!!

Review: The first DVD I bought was Somewhere in Time, even before I had a DVD player. Now I'll have to be this second one because it just has so much more stuff. Isn't it cool.

Review: I'm a man of logic and science...I know that the basic structure of the movie is unrealistic and a fantasy. And yet, the way the film has been made makes me believe that something like this is possible...that love is so strong that it breaks all barriers, even those of time. This is definitely a movie for anybody and everybody, even those who don't like gushy films

Summary: Come back to see (more than just a 'chick movie')
Review: When Elise McKenna said, "Is it you?" to Richard Collier, I remember wishing that it was me that she was saying it to. Maybe this is really a Harlequin made into a movie, but, at age 18, with movie tastes at that time in the "Animal House/Blazing Saddles" vein, I was so taken with this movie that I bought tickets to see the second showing that night. Jane Seymour is perfect as the exemplar of Late Victorian beauty and grace. Her presence on the screen is positively mesmerizing, and makes her efforts in other works seem rather anticlimax. Christopher Plummer is also superb as her semi-visionary mentor. Christopher Reeve also does a fine job. The plot: In 1972, an aged, retired actress from another era, Elise McKenna, goes to see a play at Medfield College, staged by a student-playwright. She, with grave dignity mingled with passion, silently makes her way through the throng of well-wishers to press a gold watch into his hands, with the barely audible worde, "Come back to me." Just as quickly, she is gone. Eight years later, Richard is sucessful, but spiritually empty. By chance, he decides to stop at the Grand Hotel. Lighting upon a dusty history room, he sees The Picture - an exquisite beauty who inflames his imagination. Upon learning her identity from the aged clerk who has been in residence since 1910, he delves into her biography. the shock of recognition upon seeing her last photograph, taken at the time the old woman had come to him with the watch, puts his efforts into high gear. Her former caretaker shows him her belongings, which include a book by a former professor of Richard's at Medfield College. The title: "Travels Through Time." I will leave off here, only noting that this impossible love-through-the-ages tale is carried off with more taste, refinement, sensibility, and plausibility than, "Ghost." For Jane Seymour connoiseurs, this is the essential film, and it's the only 'romance' flick that I will likely ever own. -Lloyd Conway
