Summary: Steamy
Review: This movie was outstanding. The dom/sub thing was so subtle that it really pulls you into the story without even realizing it. There was such a fine line between sexual excitement and true fear. It was like one was bleeding over into the other. Extremely sexy.

Summary: Wild and Romantic
Review: Mickey Was his wonderfull romantic self in 9 1/2 and it made as a good "fall in love movie".

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not what I was lookign for.
Review: Not what I was hoping for. It does not have very much plot and the romantic scenes are not that great. I almost fell asleep. I was bored a few minutes into it and would not recomend it.

Summary: Spoilers
Review: Why did she go see Mr. Farnsworth and why did we need to see that? You find that out at the end. They connect because they something in common: They are both in over their heads and very much "fish out of water". Look for the cues. They are there throughout the entire movie.

The dialog between John and Elizabeth is important. But it's sometimes hard to hear and I think that's why people get a bit lost. It's a movie you need to watch more than once to fully undestand.

Summary: Disconnected, Pointless, and Random
Review: Why did she go visit Mr. Farnsworth? Why did we need to see that? Typical of most of the scenes in this movie, her visit to the country is out of place, poorly connected to the rest of the story, and not easily interpreted.

The seduction and eventual submission of the heroine was interesting. But the execution was miserable and the plot thready, at best. I think the problem is that the movie tried to do _too_ much -- to tell that story _and_ try to incorporate another message.

Sorry -- but if there's real art here, it completely eluded me.

The photography is sometimes very interesting and creative, but just as often too dark or awkward. The audio production of the DVD edition is trrible; the dialogue is not cleanly recorded or balance, causing the sound effects to be overwhelming and annoying.

Summary: A work of art
Review: [Another] reviewer... missed the entire point of this movie, more than I've ever seen before!

He calls it a "smutty film about a bad sexual relationship" which it is not. He says it is "an above-average erotic film", and it's not even "erotic". It is, but that's secondary.

He says "Rourke is just honing his scumbag, bad-boy persona; but it doesn't overwhelm." He is perfect for the role and he missed the whole point of the characters pyschological state.

I'm not even going to indulge this reviewer by explaining the movie to him. It's not too hard to grasp but he sure missed it.

One of the rare works of art to come out of Hollywood.

Summary: In the context of its genre - a classic!
Review: Within the context of its genre 9 1/2 Weeks is the best by streaks. A sensory tour de force, which excels not for its sex but mostly for film production methodologies which produce a landscape of disturbing imagery and sounds.

Stylish, sexy art house soft-core is a fitting description but there is so much more to the experience that is, 9 1/2 Weeks. Foremost on the list is the films mesmerizing and intriguing vibe as generated through a variety of channels of which visionary content tops the list.

The eroticism of 9 1/2 Weeks {not of the sex or of the relationship} stem equally from other almost elusive sources through a well spun combination of sensory elements.

The abundant black & white scenery is revealing. Black & white set amongst symmetrical lines; an orderly sterile world devoid of comfort and broad appeal. Gleaming white spaces with walls brighter than a set of current day Hollywood teeth.

9 1/2 Weeks is bursting with powerful moments. The first glance in the Chinatown deli, Elizabeth's private viewing of fine abstract modern art as a prelude to her masturbating {what was she thinking in the moments prior to ecstasy?} Can the answers be found in the slides she's appraising?

As a sexual escapade it is a credible and welcome departure from mainstream.

Summary: Sexiest movie EVER
Review: 9 1/2 weeks is without a doubt, THE SEXIEST FILM EVER MADE!!! I am so in love with Mickey Rourke in this movie--I can't even begin to tell you. It is an art film--very visually appealing, sexual, mysterious, and intriguing. I love this movie and I definently recommend it!!

Summary: This movie works
Review: I love this movie. To me, it is basically a mood piece. The acting, scenery, and lighting are all well done. It's very romantic and seems to depict a relationship that's true to life. I think that the way it ended seemed realistic as well. There was so much passion between the two main characters, that things eventually turned out badly between them.

Summary: I like it!
Review: I like the movie. John and Elizabeth are great together and they could have a real realationship if John was not too self-centered and emotionless. He acts like a sweet guy who scares his girlfriend with sudden sprouts of anger. In brief, it is a story of how the modern world makes successful people pay for their time at work. They become prisoners of solitude and can not feel emphathy for each other unless they loose one another. Emotionless world pushes John to seek himself somewhere on the edge of sex, love and mazohism. Elizabeth fell for him but got tired of facing a wall...
