She's So Lovely

Summary: ALL'S FAIR IN LOVE AND...
Review: Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn have an onscreen chemistry which is undeniable. Perhaps this is why they are married in real life. But I have no need to think about that. This film is poignant and touching in a very bizarre way. Penn and Wright's characters (Eddie and Mo, respectively) have a volatile relationship. Eddie has a temper, Mo likes to drink... Eddie takes off for days at a time. Eddie and Mo, though, they are in love and nothing can change that, apparently. Mo discovers she is pregnant, tries to contact Eddie, but he is nowhere to be found. One night Mo drinks a bit too much, goes home with her neighbour, and he rapes her. When Eddie returns he tries to kill the neighbour (and if memory serves, he may even have succeeded in killing the neighbour. ... It is an interesting examination of the human mind, human relationships and emotions, and it lends new meaning to the genre of "love story". It is quite unconventional and it can be appreciated for that.

Summary: Very moving and tender
Review: Sean Penn was excellant but so was his real life love Robin. I had never seen her, and can't wait to see her again. With him, of course. Being from L.A., I met John Travolta when we were both 21 yrs old ( or young ), he is real guy with all the ""Vinnie" charm, I was glad to see how well he is doing, in all his flicks.

Summary: There's Nothing "Lovely" About This Movie
Review: She's So Lovely is about a man (Sean Penn) who goes crazy after his wife (Robin Wright Penn) is beat up by a neighbor. He searches for the fat slob and eventually gets drunk from several Siberian Mysts and ends up shooting a demostic violence officer. His wife, Murphy, divorces her husband without telling him and marries Travolta. Penn is released ten years later. He thought it was only three months (I don't buy that. Three months is a lot different than ten years. Even to crazy people. Anyway, Penn tries to get his wife back from Travolta, who is a foul mouthed hot head. Well, I don't want to give away the end. Even one star trash movies have fans. I'm sure the writer of this film gave his or her best. But, this person must have seen one too many Quentin Tarantino movies. This was definately a poor imitation of such films as Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. It was loaded with cursing, offbeat characters, unusual situations, etc. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was shown out of order. Pulp Fiction had many funny moments. This didn't have one. I thought Sean Penn acting like a complete idiot was mildly amusing. I disliked John Travolta's character, Joey. A waste of talent. The voice that Robin Wright Penn used for this movie was annoying and irreverent. The only part I enjoyed were the camoes of Adrian (Talia Shire) and Paulie from Rocky. It had no place in the movie, but that was the beauty of it. They invited Sean Penn and his wife in for dinner and said that they would get "Mario and Luigi". An obvious reference to the Super Mario Bros. series. Being a gamer, I enjoyed it. All in all this movie was barely worthy of the one star that I gave it. If you want to see a good Travolta Movie check out: Pulp Fiction, Face/Off, or Broken Arrow. If you like to torture yourself (there are people like that) rent She's So Lovely today. Otherwise, forget this waste of film.

Summary: Cassavetes lives through "Lovely"
Review: The viewer from Island Heights, New Jersey is way off the mark. Rent up all of the old John Cassavetes-directed films (e.g - A Woman Under the Influence, Opening Night, Love Streams, etc.) and take in all of who was the king of independent movies, the messiah of slick-guerilla (oxymoron) filmmaking - John Cassavetes. You've probably seen him in The Dirty Dozen or Rosemary's Baby - but he is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential and genuinely talented filmmakers of his time. Soak him in and then watch "She's So Lovely" again - and you've entered a whole new world. Sean Penn delivers an outstanding performance, as does Robin Wright Penn. John Travolta is doing what he does, which is play hyperbolic, schizophrenic versions of his "Pulp Fiction" character. But this movie, directed by Cassavetes' son from a script written before Cassavetes died, is outstanding. It's a good jumping-on point for John Cassavetes, but a great "end of the line" too.

Review: this is about Maureen playd by Robin Wright Penn(married to SEan Penn in real life) and her boyfriend Eddie Quinn(Sean Penn) and he goes crazy and he is sent away in a mental institute for ten years, realizing that Maureen divorced him, married Joey(John Travolta) and had 2 kids with him and she also had Penn's daughter Jeannie as well. the story sorta bores until Penn snaps and delivers a honest and true performance as Eddie, and its also boosted up by the snapping John Travolta(man is he good). other cast includes Harry Dean Stanton, Debi Mazar, James Gandolfini, Burt Young, Gena Rowlands and Chloe Webb. a good view and the 2 lead males are perfect, like in your face style.

Review: This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Mr. and Mrs. Penn were absolutely awesome and fit the roles perfectly. They made you FEEL for these characters. The love they had for each other was so believable even though the circumstances were difficult. This is a movie for just about everyone.

Summary: All the right ingredients for a great movie, needed a writer
Review: This movie has a good story line. Penn does a good job. Travolta is excellent. Unfortunately, John T's appearance is minimum. Fast forward to the last 1/3 of the movie and from there on its 5 stars. That is when Travolta comes on the scene. A bit of over use of the (f) word, especially around the young children. I truly think this movie could have been better scripted and it would have really grabbed me. The story was there, the actors were cast perfect, just something was missing to make this a truly good movie. I blame the script. Sound quality was average. I won't add this one to the collection.
