Rating: Summary: A stunning piece of work that touches the human heart! Review: Sliding Doors is a must-see with a talented cast. Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah draw the viewers in with their heartfelt performance. It's a challenge not to fall in love with their characters. Their lives are in the hands of fate or rather sliding doors. Love lost or gained, this film brings tears to the eyes and warmness to the heart.
Rating: Summary: Unlike any other film Review: You've heard of AFI's 100 years of movies? Well, in all of those 100 years, there has been nothing like this. "Sliding Doors" is a smart and cute story that is executed very well.
Rating: Summary: THE MOVIE WAS GREAT Review: I really enjoyed this movie, Mrs. Paltrow role is even better then the movie Perfect Murder. It was a little hard to follow but this the short haircut is was not hard to tell the different stories. If you are going to buy a good date movie choose "Sliding Doors."
Rating: Summary: You'll like it... your girlfriend will love it! Review: Win some love and affection from your girlfriend by buying this movie. A very clever and witty comedy that's easy to watch. Paltrow makes a great character you can feel for. Your girlfriend may end up in tears though so have the Kleenex handy. This is so easy to watch as the cuts between the 2 outcomes of her life are done so well. You won't ever be confused by it. Ultimately, though the outcome is pretty similar.I've given it 4 stars, but if you're a girlie, raise that to 5! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: A great movie!!! Review: Sliding Doors is a great movie. It's a comedy and a drama, and it was even sad towards the end (I won't say anything, in case you've not yet seen it). I'd love to buy it, but I'm going to wait until the price drops!
Rating: Summary: A film that makes you think Review: I thought this film was one of the most amazing I have ever seen. We often wonder what might have been had we done something different and this movie took an instance and shows us just that. Every action we take leads to other actions, our future is constantly changing. The actors also did a superb job, Paltrow and Hanna were especially delightful to watch. I believe this was my favorite movie of 1998, and quite possibly my all time favorite.
Rating: Summary: A very well made movie, one of my all-time favorites! :) Review: This movie is thought-enganging and has a nice mix of comedy and drama. You can relate to both of the "lives" of Paltrow and hopefully learn a lesson from her tribulations.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating manner of showing two parallel story lines Review: If you can tolerate Gwyneth Paltrow's phoney English accent, the story is interesting, compassionate, complicated, ironic, romantic, and realistic. Two story lines are created, rather like two parallel lives or universes at the instant that Gwyneth misses (and doesn't miss) a train. From there, the two stories are comfortably intercut to show just what may have happened to her character if she either caught the train or missed it. The lead characters look like and behave like normal people -- this is not a story about the rich and famous or the down and out, but more like the hopeful and insecure. Plot twists for both storylines abound. The plot is probably more feminist in nature, being about the betrayals of men, and then again it is about the conniving of women, with Paltrow trustingly caught in some tragic but ultimately healing circumstances. A pleasant film and completely enjoyable, with a nice love story.
Rating: Summary: You've a heart of steel if this movie doesn't touch you. Review: This movie became my new favorite within the first 5 minutes of watching it. Gwyneth Paltrow is amazing. There wasn't one person I didn't feel I knew in this movie, and both my friend and I confessed to falling rather hard for James (John Hannah)within an hour. I ran out and bought the soundtrack the next day, and I had to buy a new copy, I literally wore it out. There's not much else I can say except to find 100 more ways to say this movie is amazing. No movie has ever touched me and really affected me like this one.
