Summary: A must own for video collectors!!
Review: Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall are a perfect duo in this "laugh a minute" comedy. Also starring James Earl Jones and ER's Eriq La Salle. I urge video collectors to buy this one. I believe this is one of the best comedies ever made!!

Summary: Fun Relaxed Comedy
Review: Coming to America cheerfully pokes fun at everything. There isn't really a meanspirited moment in the movie. A spoiled Afican Prince comes to Queens, NYC to live a normal life & find his true love. Queens for a future king, get it? The humor isn't exactly highbrow but its constant and Arsenio Hall is hilarious.

Review: Coming to America is one of the funniest Eddie Murphy movies ever made. It's a film about a naïve, "Zamundan," prince who knows that there is more to the world than what lies within the palace walls, and he is determined to get out and see it, oh yeah, and find his bride too! In addition to a good storyline the movie also has a great cast; Eddy Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones act in this film, and that's just while he's still in Africa. Murphy's and Hall's famous costume work is shown off in this film, particularly in the barber shop scene where the viewer is treated to heated debates about which boxer is superior. There is also one catchy song which I heard in this movie, "She's your Queen," which sung in a very high voice while the bride which the protagonist's parents selected is approaching. The song includes such funny lines as, "completely free from infection~"

But there was also something very odd in this movie. There is no such country as Zamunda, they just made it up for the movie, but in the credits for the movie they thank the, "Zamundan Film Commission." Either they did not expect people to read the credits or they were implying that there are Africans who actually live as they do in Zamunda; I thought Eddie Murphey of all people would not participate in a movie which tries to stereotype Africans. If they had not thanked the "Zamundan Film Commission," there would have been no problem, after all, there are many African (such as a Nigerian teacher which I used to have) who really enjoyed this movie.

I would have gone up to five stars but I am deducting one for either implying that a country like Zamunda could actually exist in Africa or thinking that not many people would actually read the credits and so ignore that part of it.

Review: I love this movie. There is nothing I can complain about. This is Eddie Murphy at his Best. This is when Eddie and Arsenio was the BOMB. Every scene makes you laugh. Do you see Samuel Jackson in one of his early roles? Also, ER's Eric LaSalle in his Jeri Curl. This movie is wonderful. I can watch it over and over and over again and laugh at the Soul Glow commercials, because everyone in my area wore a Jerri Curl that looked that nasty. This is a must own.

Summary: Coming to America
Review: This film is really a laugh out loud riot of a film. The movie is about a young African prince, Hakeem (Eddie Murphy), that is arranged to be married to an air head Princess within the next few months, but Hakeem secretely plans to go to the United States to look for a new bride with help from his friend Simy (Arsenio Hall). Upon their arrival, Hakeem and Simy pretend to be poor averaged African students working for McDowells restaurant. While working there, Hakeem falls in love with the owner's daughter and soon tries to swoon her throughout the film. The film is a bit cliched though, but it doesn't ruin this one. The movie is filled with many memorable moments for the entire family to enjoy despite some partial nude scenes in the beginning. Overall, I highly recommend this one.
