Summary: NOT Another Teen Movie¿Truly Powerful, You Will Cry
Review: "A Walk To Remember," the movie adaptation of tear-jerker novel specialist Nicholas Sparks best-seller, derives most definitely from the norm of recent teen romance movies (ie - She's All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, Summer Catch, Never Been Kissed, Princess Diaries, etc).

Like many movies based off of books, the plot is inherently more developed and more powerful. This is definitely the case with "A Walk to Remember." With the overtones of faith and the power of true love viewers will clearly be inspired and be left emotionally touched when they see this movie. This is more than a chick flick. In one word, the movie is "powerful."

The story as the previews allude to follows the story of Landon Carter (Shane West), "the very rough around the edges popular guy" and Jamie Sullivan (pop diva Mandy Moore), "the not-so-popular, but very good girl," a very unlikely couple who eventually fall in love. While the basic plot sounds cookie cut from any number of teen movies, all similarities stop there. Instead of the receiving the by-the-numbers storyline of unlikely love, what you do get is a powerful, yet tragic tale of love won and lost, but not really lost. With strong religious undertones (Jamie is the town Reverend's daughter), it is also a story of salvation and redemption.

Aside from the awesome story, the performances of cast are superb. Especially cool is the on-camera singing performance of female lead (and ultra-talented teen pop diva) Mandy Moore.

Best Scenes:

-- The play scene

-- Landon to the rescue

-- Landon and Jamie's first date

There's a lot of other great stuff, but it'd definitely be a spoiler if you've never read the book...

For myself, an avid moviegoer for over a decade, I can honestly say that I can count on ONE HAND the number of movies that have actually left me truly touched and in tears. Those movies are "Titanic," "The Green Mile" and "A Walk To Remember."

Ultimately, this is definitely one of the ultimate movies to go out on a date with your loved one (or potential loved one). Whether you're a guy or (definitely) a gal, you WILL like this.

Summary: I loved it!!
Review: This was a great movie!Popular "bad boy" Landon falls in love with a not so popular, kind of dorky girl, Jamie. He is sooooooooooooooooo sweet to her and is the best the best guy ever to her. I lOVED this story, it was so good. SEE THE MOVIE, its great!

Summary: Maintains the heart and soul of the novel...
Review: Although Nicholas Sparks' touching, sweet novel of young love was modified for viewing audiences of the 21st century, filmmakers of "A Walk to Remember" managed to maintain all of the right elements from the book to make the film equally as moving. Surprisingly, Mandy Moore does an amazing job in re-creating Jamie's sweet, angelic personality, although the movie's Jamie is a little tad on the cockier side than the Jamie in the novel. Shane West, as well, portrays Landon wonderfully, and manages to create *superb* chemistry with Mandy Moore. This may not be an Academy Award winning movie, but it wasn't meant to be. It was meant to touch viewer's hearts as the book touched so many readers'. As a teen-love story, this film is believeable, sweet, and among the best out there. There are no overly-sappy scenes, and one will not leave the theatre thinking it was a waste of money. Do not go to see this expecting something innovative, but go to experience the undying love of Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan.

Summary: A 15-yr old reader and watcher
Review: I have recently read the book 'A Walk to Remember.' It was a good book, with GREAT character building, you feel like you know them personally. I admit, i cried, - better put SOBBED in the book. I highly recomend reading the book, And I could not wait for the movie to come out. As in most cases, the book is better. In the book, it showed A LOT more emotion

The movie's actors and actresses did a great job. Shane West, who plays Landon Carter, is a AMAZING young actor. His acting really made audiences beleive his transfirmation. He also did many sweet, incredible things for Jamie, played by Mandy Moore who was also very good. Not only does she have a great vioce, which she shares on camera, but she is a great example of purity. As a ministers daughter, which she shows very well, she is very moral-conscience. But unlike other movies where Christians are protrayed at nerdy, weirdos, not-funny, and are usually made fun of, Mandy shows that Christians DO have fun. She comes up with many witty lines to defend herself and her faith. And we as the audience don't make fun of her out-of-date style of clothing or the music she listens too (Jars of Clay ROCK!!) but we find ourselves rooting for her, not laughing AT her.

This is a refreshing good movie and very positive. A great alternitive than almost ANYTHING out there.

And a piece of advice, DO NOT leave the house without tissues!!

Summary: A Walk To Remember Review
Review: As I am a teenager, this movie looked interesting and as though it might agtually have some meaning to it. I was not let down when I saw it. The characters are real, and they are experiencing real, everyday issues that teens deal with. This was not a movie that was predictable. It has twists, just like life, and A Walk to Remember is a touching story, and, although it is targeted at teens, adults wil enjoy it as well. The only problem I had with it was the language. they could have expressed the same ideas with nicer "friendship words" as oppesed to those they chose. I say this only becasue there are younger audience members that are not as "used to" the words many people use daily. Still, if one is prepared to hear some not-so-great words, then this would be a really good movie.

Summary: WOW
Review: I have seen this movie three times so far, and plan on seeing it yet again. I thought that mandy moore took a role that a normal pop singer would not take, which I found great! She did a great job in this role. Shane West also did a wonderful job. Not many male actors can cry well, but let me tell you, Shane can. This movie will take you on a emotional rollercoaster. I think everyone should see it!

Summary: An Interesting Walk
Review: Having never actually read "A Walk to Remember" by Nicolas Sparks, I went into this movie fully blinded. With the exception of my in depth reseach of this movie, so I didn't walk into a blood and guts action movie by accident. I understood the plot line quite well. But, I did realize that the story had been altered from its original novel state, for the sake of the audience. Which of course, I wish hadn't quite happened, for the sake of myself. What is fairly amazing, is that after watching the movie with tear stained eyes, I realized that maybe this wasn't quite the most appropriate movie for all the young girls that sat several rows in front of me. Yes, I am a big girl, but I couldn't help noticing the amount of "crude" language that was incorperated into the script. I expected for a movie of a PG rating, that I wouldn't hear the [bad] words.. in the first three minutes, and then repeated several times through out the movie at different states. I most certainly didn't grow up in the dark ages but I didn't realize obscenities ..was appropriate for children under 13. I also didn't think that death was quite a good topic for them either. As I sat in the theater, it crossed my mind that the only people who were bawling around me were people who understood the concept of loved ones [passing]. I however did not hear the small girls sobbing on their mother's shoulders. Which hopefully is a good thing, but half the audience didn't quite capture the movie, it went right over their heads. But through this all, I did find that Mandy Moore was a quite surprizing actress at pulling off her role. She had serious interest in expanding her career to its maximum and this movie shows that she will be expanding more and "moore". Shane West also pleasantly surprized me with the composure which his character held, and the transformation Landon Carter made. These young characters were cast excellently into their parts, but their elders which were played by Peter Coyote and Daryl Hannah were ultimately miscast. These big screen old timers, walked through their roles with much ease, and for me I was greatly dissapointed that their characters parental influence was not excercised more through out the movie. Through this bickering, I have found that this is a good movie to watch especially if you enjoy a good cry that heals wounds, and celebrates good times of youth-- just remember to bring tissue, and afterwards walk it all off.
