Summary: Incredible
Review: I saw this movie while on a trip away from home. Do not watch this alone or when you are feeling even a little depressed! The depressing theme, music and excellent acting could drive you over the edge. No other move has impacted me to the extent as this one has.

Summary: Call me a cretin...
Review: ...But I simply do NOT see what the 1939 Olivier version of "Wuthering Heights" has over this one. Seems to me, the sentimental, overstated style of filmmaking that was popular in the 30's is ENTIRELY innapropriate for an adaptation of Bronte's great novel. The lovers in Olivier's version speak in a manner of affected innocence which grates on the nerves, and are forever giving eachother milky-eyed stares. The dark, smouldering-beneath-the-surface passion that is communicated in the '92 version is a much better interpretation of Bronte's writing style.

Summary: Adequate Adaption of Literary Classic
Review: I'm one of the rare people who have actually read "Wuthering Heights", and appreciate the filmmakers not straying far from the book as in other film adaptions. However, the film is rather tedious and gloomy and would be a 1-star if it weren't for Ralph Fiennes, who looks good and holds your interest even in the midst of a semi-dismal film such as this.

Summary: Is this the MTV version?
Review: I adore both Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes, but I can't "pretend" to love this movie. See it only to say that you've seen it. The movie had a lot of potential, but it seems it was produced for the MTV crowd. They crammed a beautiful, sweeping novel into a 95-minute chopped-up, fast paced film. The only good thing I can say is that the scenery was stunning. The actors are beautiful, but even that lost its charm as the film progressed into a disaster. By the way, how do people who have never read the novel know if this "adaptation" is good? You don't have to read a book to enjoy a film, or to know if the film is good on its own. But you can't judge how well it's based on the original story if you've never read it. Some of these reviews amaze me.

Summary: UNDESERVED CRITICISM FOR AN ADAPTATION
Review: Finally found it, I'll admit I only watched it because of Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche and wasn't aware that Sinead O'Connor was the narrator/Bronte until I researched it on the net and read some terribly harsh things about this movie, which IS NOT BAD at all.I've never read the book, and this movie won't make me want to read it, but still Fiennes and Binoche are believable as grief-stricken lovers. Though their acting wasn't as polished as the English Patient's it did show thier potential and I was very impressed with the delivery of the story. I liked Sinead O'Connor's narration and I liked Janet McTeer's performance. And the muscical score kept playing in my head a few days after watching it. I hope Fiennes and Binoche do another movie together, but that's just wishful thinking.

Summary: It was a riot!
Review: This video is absoultely hilarious! If you like Victoria Holt style romance, you will find it very amusing. The film is one of those "so bad it's good". On arthouse drama level I give it one star but for the laughs I give it four. I found the spectacle of Ralph Fiennes staggering around with glassy eyes a very enjoyable one, and the number of anonymous wolves howling in the background was all very fun. The death rate was somewhat high, however, and the ghosts very ludicrous. Just don't expect it to do credit to the book.

Summary: love story extroidinare
Review: I saw this film when it aired in 92, and have been haunted by it ever since. I have tried in vain to rent it, but to no avail. I strongly recommend everyone to see it. They will surely be impressed.

Summary: Ralph Fiennes is a GOD!
Review: This is the best movie I have ever seen, truly moving and unforgetable!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Oh God, not another one.
Review: I am sorry that I am compelled to give this one star. The horrible, cringe-making adaptation (it cannot be called anything but "butchery") and awful sets combine to make this yet another in a long list of _Wuthering Heights_ failures. Will anyone ever do justice to Emily Bronte and her brilliant novel? May that day not long be delayed!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A well acted but thoroughly disjointed adaption.
Review: I looked forward to this film with enormous anticipation after seeing its two lead actors, Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes, deliver stunningly good performances in "The English Patient." Yet "Wuthering Heights" falls very short of that later film, largely due to the difficulty in understanding Heathcliff's(Fiennes) motivations and behavior(despite the obvious talent of the great actor), and the clear miscasting of the gifted but hopelessly French Binoche in an unmistakeably English movie. Visually the movie is spectacular, filmed entirely on location in Yorkshire, but the set alone has great difficulty in rescuing a slow moving film with far too many scenes, and a missing sense of purpose after Binoche's title character dies. The film is not a bad rent when there's nothing else at the store, but unless your determined to own the classics on film, or are a die hard Ralph Fiennes aficionado,(which I'll confess, I am) this is no classic that should be deserving of your purchase. END
