Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It gives a very realistic portrayal of the traditions and customs of the hispanic culture. I was in awe of the flow of theme and the acting. What an awesome movie. They should make more of these soon. The movie gives a great reason to create low budget movies that are high in quality of substance.A real chicken soup for movie viewers that like a great romantic film You have to watch this movie!

Summary: Leaves me speechless...
Review: I have just seen this film for the first time, and read the book last year. The film is true to the book, and though I have never watched a film with subtitles and doubted my ability to do so successfully, I was captivated from the first minute! As soon as I can locate it, I intend to purchase the video to share with my mother and sister.

Summary: Just awful in every way
Review: OK, everyone else loved this movie but I thought it was terrible. Besides the plot -- women can only achieve happiness through the (ugh!) Mexican food they cook for their men -- the editing, film quality and high school quality cinematography made this film a nightmare to watch. Producer should be ashamed of him/herself. Next time, how about checking the expiration date on the film cartridge so at least the colors aren't faded....

Summary: One of the best films in all of cinema.
Review: Like Water for Chocolate is one of the most beautifully made films ever to be seen. Every element in the film is makes it real and magical. It is a wonderful love story of how nothing in life can hold true love. I very highly recommend this film. If you are the type of person who for some reason gets turned off by foreign films, after watching this movie you will realize that Like Water for Chocolate is more than a movie, it's an experience. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Review: This is a wonderful movie about tradition, love, hate, loyalty, family honor, passion, a little history, and food. There are sad moments, tender ones, and very funny moments. Once you get into it, you don't realize you're reading subtitles. I think it's sort of a woman's movie in that the central characters are female and multi-generational. I waited 2 years from the time I heard about the movie until I was able to see it and after three times, I finally purchased the video. My daughters and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I highly recommend this movie.

Summary: Incredibly sensual in both picture and content.
Review: This film is a beautiful work. Very sensual, whimsical and erotic. The simple pleasure of a fairy tale with the deep passion of all human emotion. Frankly, it's unlike any film I can remember viewing before. Very literate. Similar in many ways to the styles of Gabriel Garcia-Marquez; with the surreal, supernatural elements transformed very well for the screen.

Review: To say the least, just amazing. The way the characters were so vividly portrayed in a sensual and erotic manner is normaly unheard of. A must see to truely appreciate the power of cuisine, culture and passion.
