Summary: A beautiful film about the love of movies and life
Review: I continue to be moved and deeply touched by this beautiful film from Italy, and I never tire of watching it. I share the lives of Toto and Alfredo, the small Sicilian boy, who loses his father in the second world war, and the older man who runs the projector at the local cinema. Toto lives in a world of make believe, movies, adventure. His dreams take him away from the small Sicilian village where he lives with his mother and sister. Alfredo becomes for him a surrogate father, and the movies, his paralell existence. It is a deceptively simple film, which sweeps you up and carries you along. You never want it to end. And, when it does end, it is with such heartbreaking simplicity, I cannot help being moved to tears. Young Salvatore Cascio is a marvel as the small Toto, a mischievous, impish, adorable child. Phillipe Noiret is unforgettable as the sly and heart-warming Alfredo. You grow up with Toto, until he becomes a famous film director in Rome, and returns to the small village after many years for Alfredo's funeral. It is the story of life, lost love, devotion, friendship, and family. It is unforgettable.

Summary: Wonderful!!!
Review: This is one of my top five favorite films of all time. A movie about movies, with wonderful characters, and an extraordinary soundtrack by the gifted Ennio Morricone (also one of my all-time favorite soundtracks.) The music is so well integrated that it becomes a character part in the film. The little boy who falls in love with movies (a splendid performance by the young Salvatore Cascio) and spends his every free moment in the projection booth with the crusty old projectionist (played beautifully by the fine French actor, Philippe Noiret) grows up to be a successful director. The film never falls into the trap of mawkish sentimentality but is true to life and bittersweet--entirely deserving of its Academy Award for best foreign film. Not to be missed!

Summary: Simply the best
Review: Since I watched the movie in TV 10 years ago, I tried my best to collect the LD, DVD, soundtrack CD and the newly released director's cut. Everytime I watched it again, I was moved by the story and the meaning behind it.

Good for anyone with deep feeling of love and care for people around.

Summary: An Italian film like they used to make
Review: Anyone who was a regular moviegoer as a child (probably pre 1980)and who fell under the spell of the movies then - the darkened auditorium, the flickering stream of light from the projection booth, the occasional film breakdowns - an experience totally unlike modern sanitised 'mall' moviegoing, will be enthralled by this movie.

Seen through the eyes of a child who helps the village moviehouse projectionist and owner, a magic world is conjured up. Through his friendship and working relationship with the older man, and his exposure to the romanticism of the movies he helps project, the younger one learns about love, duty, loyalty and courage.

Italian movies of this quality used to be ten a penny. They aren't now, which makes this movie a throwback to a great tradition and a marvellous thing to see !

Summary: where is uncut version? I want to see full length cinema
Review: I love this movie. I¡¯ve watched it over and over. This movie deserves 5 stars. But I want to see full length of this stunning movie. If you didn't see full length of original movie, you missed some moving moments and reason why they couldn't meet in their past. Try to find uncut version of this amazing tale. You will cry again.

Summary: A jewel
Review: I had been all my life in love with movies but I should admit that "Cinema Paradiso" is probably one of ten top films I ever saw. And not just for the film factor from which the script grows but for the characters, the losing of inocence, the nostalgia of the good old days, the face of that early love that one never will forget, the passion, the beauty, the music and so on and on and on. Cinema paradiso deserves to appear in golden bold upper case type in the History of Cinema. Unbeatable.

Summary: Sweet, touching film
Review: This is one of my favorite movies, it's sweet, sentimental, comical and sad all at the same time. Listening to the language is like listening to someone sing, and the words are just beautiful. I enjoyed it so much when I rented it from the video store, I bought it the next day. It's a good date movie, a good girly movie, and just an all around feel good movie about life, love and happiness.

Summary: One of the Best Films of the Last 20 Years
Review: Guiseppe Tornatore's masterpiece proves for once, and for all, that you can indeed go home again. "Cinema Paradiso" is a timeless tribute to family, friendship and love as seen through the eyes of Toto, a filmmaker, who abandons his small town roots in search of that elusive "something more" in life. In a truly universal manner, Toto experiences success, failure, love and emptiness prior to the film's beautiful finale in which life's true meaning becomes clear to him. The childhood relationship between Toto and his father figure Alfredo, a projectionest at the local cinema, is the centerpiece of the film. Their ensuing lifelong friendship is simply priceless. The legendary Ennio Morricone's unforgettable score provides the perfect emotional backdrop . Overall, "Cinema Paradiso" is a stunning film that works on all levels. A word of warning: even the most macho of all macho will have trouble holding back tears during the film's remarkable final 15 minutes. Not to be missed!

Summary: My Favorite Movie: I Loved It
Review: I've had an italian class for about 2 years and i've seen this movie like a billion times and everytime i see it, it's like i'm seeing it for the first time again. I love this movie! And I haven't gotten bored of it yet and it's a shame that they cut half an hour from this masterpiece because the original version shows toto reuniting with his long lost girlfriend. Also since it is a masterpiece they should make a new dvd having this movie remastered and adding the extra half an hour. And yeah it's a great movie to see with your female. Believe me you're going to like this movie, get it.
