Review: <u>The Truth About Jane</u> is hilarious.
If you liked <u>Armaggedon</u>, and if you watch "Elimidate" religiously, you will love this movie. The performances, especially the father and RuPaul (as Jimmy, I mean seriously, how do you take the transcendental fabulousness that is RuPaul and make him some guy named "Jimmy"?) are incredibly hilarious. Jane's fake tears, Stockard Channing's glorious mask, and Ms. Walcott's stereotypical dyke hair are too funny for words. My personal favorite character is Ned, the "hot" guy at school who tries to hit on, and later befriends, Jane. Every moment of this movie is pure comic gold, not fool's gold mind you, real gold.
Please, for you, and for your sense of humor, go experience this movie as quickly as possible. Seriously, you can get it from me.

Summary: An excellent movie for everyone: straight and gay
Review: An excellent film depicting the pain teenagers go through when coming out. I bought it on a whim from a lesbian bookstore, and it touched my soul. Now, I recommend it to everyone. It's very sensitively written and beautifully performed without being overly dramatic. It shows how much strength it really takes to come out of the closet and how much destruction a single person's condemnation can cause.

Summary: It's like an afterschool special
Review: Basically, this was an afterschool special, only better.The Truth About Jane is a heavy-handed coming-out story without any trace of subtlety. The movie starts with a clumsy love affair between Jane and a girl at high school, progresses through her parents going psycho, and finally turns into an ad for PFLAG. Throw in a few glitzy commercials for PFLAG ("PFLAG! It will make your life better!") and it would have been a great spoof of, well, itself. The acting was acceptable, but the script in general was pretty poor. Every scene was completely formulaic, but somehow, the part of the formula where you learn about peoples' feelings seems to have been left out, leaving us with cardboard cutouts yelling at each other. But all is not lost! This movie had a few good moments. When Jane beats up her snotty little brother, yeah! That was quality sibling pounding! Three stars, for the sibling smackdown. This would be a good movie to sit annoying people in front of for "educational" purposes, since it won't confuse them with subtlety or too much of that incomprehensible high-brow plotifying and stuff. If you want entertainment, watch Show Me Love (F**king Amal to the rest of the world) instead.

Summary: The truth about Jane and all of us.
Review: First time this film was played on tv, i must have had about a thousand ppl telling me "hey! check it out!" Sounded, for the first time, that someone had the right idea about what happens to a teen when they have to go trough the hard time of finding out who they are. This film should be watch by as many ppl as posible... This film shows the beauty of the innocent of a first love, the hard times one have to suffer to be who you really are, to be all alone and then discover that your loved by many, just simply by been you. A movie that any one should have in there collection.

Summary: Great movie but no dvd extras
Review: I fell in love with this movie the first time I watched it on lifetime. i even taped it when it came on. Now it's never on lifetime and I was hoping it would come out on t.v. and it has. This is just a wonderfull movie that stirs up so many emotions in the viewer when they are watching it. Laughter, anger, sadness, pain, and hope and so much more. This is a movie for anyone that is a fan of lesbian filsm or is a lesbian to own. You won't regret it. And if you don't buy it at least rent it.

Review: I found that watching 'The Truth About Jane' was great. I saw this movie on Lifetime when it first came on and couldn't wait to purchases it. Jane finds that she is attracted to a girl Taylor, but when Taylor's life takes a little turn, the love of her life leaves her thinking how hard it is to be gay. Jane goes through alot when she tell her parents, especially her mother. Overall this movie was excellent and should be viewed by all people that has had a hard time dealing with their loved ones being gay.

Review: I picked this movie up, because of the director/writer Lee Rose. I have always enjoyed her work and that of Stockard Channing. I was amazed at how this movie touched me. Clearly, Ms. Rose is writing from experience, the coming out issues raised in the movie are both believably written and acted. I only wish that the message of acceptance gets out and our rich diverse culture of loving people can be empowered. Love your work in telling women's stories, Ms. Rose!

Review: I saw this movie several years ago on Lifetime Television. This was an outstanding movie that has stuck with me, and had an impact on my for several years. Ellen Muth, Stockard Channing, James Naughton and RuPaul star in the drama "The Truth About Jane." Fifteen-year-old Jane lives the quintessential suburban life with her parents and younger brother. Although popular, Jane has always felt somewhat different than her peers. However, after meeting Taylor, a transfer student at school, Jane's life changes irrevocably. Jane and Taylor become close friends very quickly, and Jane feels a connection to Taylor that she's never felt with her other friends. One night, Taylor kisses Jane, and it becomes clear to Jane that she's found what has been lacking in her life. As her relationship with Taylor deepens, Jane realizes that she has to face her family and come to terms with her true self, which changes her life forever. The results of which will surprise and amaze you. This is one classy, well put together story of love and tolerance.
