Rating: Summary: This video contains decent stories. Review: The stories in and of themselves were well directed and performed; however, having seen the first Boys Life, these stories were not what I was expecting. Some of the stories were just too, for lack of a better word, weird. Primarily, I cite "Nunzio's Second Cousin." I sat through this story wishing that it would hurry up and end. "Alkali, Iowa" was the best story on the video for it dealt with being gay and multigenerationality. ...
Rating: Summary: Expensive and too bizarre Review: We felt that the stories (except one of them) were far away from 'boys life (1)' and too bizarre. The surrealistic component was too strong for our taste. The stories miss the freshness and positive humor the ones in 'boys life (1)' have. We would NOT buy it again. The high price is not justified.
Rating: Summary: Two great ones; two so-so Review: Well-done compilation of four short films about growing up gay. The first one "Must Be the Music" is fun. It's about a group of gay teenage boys going to a disco. The refreshing thing about it is that the characters are gay...and could care less. Also it's very sweet and has a happy ending. Lots of fun. "Nunzio's Second Cousin" is not so good. It's a very dark film about a very disturbed cop inviting a teenager home after he tried to rob him and his lover. Eileen Brennan overacts as the cop's mother. Dark, depressing. Still, it is interesting. "Atali, Iowa" was dull dull dull. I'm not going to describe it...just avoid it. The closing one "Trevor" is just superb. It actually won an Academy Award as best live short subject. It's about a very young kid coming to grips with the fact that he's gay. It's funny, moving and has a very uplifting ending. A real winner. So, the first and last are the best segments. The second is good but dark. And the third should be avoided. Pretty good batting average I'd say
Rating: Summary: GREAT FILM SET WITH ONE MAJOR PROBLEM!!! Review: Where is Trevor? You see I saw this at Chicago's famous Music Box Theater. And the film then had, instead of the boring 'Dadshuttle', a small gem called Trevor which actually recieved some attention in most of the reviews I read before going. This would otherwise deserve 5 stars. What happened to Trevor? This could cost the film company a few sales.
