Summary: Rocky III (1982)
Review: A fairly decent sequel for the franchise. The movie picks up where the last Rocky movie left off with Rocky Balboa living his life as the heavy weight champion, but gets challenged by a pist off heavy weight contender Clubber Lang (Mr. T). The story is a bit cliched driven and the film doesn't have as much story content as the first two films, but the acting, directing, and the deeper character development give this movie a high praise. The soundtrack to this film is probably one of the best in movie history, so its no wonder why this film is a classic. Overall, I think fans of the Rocky series will enjoy this sequel.

Summary: A Fight That Proves Comebacks Come True!
Review: After winning the title from Creed, we see Rocky defend his belt ten victorious times. He decides to hang up the gloves after the tenth title defense, but a challenge from the number one contender, Clubber Lang (played suprisingly well by Mr. T), wills Rocky to defend his title one more time. However, he became civilized, he let publicity go to his head, and he didn't train with the heart we see in the first two films. He loses to Lang in the bout, and then loses his great manager Mickey to a heart attack. Now, Rocky is down on his luck, and he feels that he doesn't want the boxing life anymore. However, Apollo Creed,(played EXCELLENTLY by Carl Weathers)shows up in Rocky's life, and talks him into challenging a rematch with Lang. Creed becomes his trainer, and personally, my favorite scene is the race on the shore of California. With Apollo's help, Rocky was able to get back "The Eye of the Tiger" to re-win his championship. Though the climactic final fight is only three rounds, it is filled with action-packed punches that could fill fifteen. A great film, and a must-see!

Review: Although there is nothing in Rocky III that we haven't really seen in the first two films,Rocky III is the best of the series.Once again Rocky is pondering retirement,but without boxing he can't support his wife and kid.Here Rocky faces Clubber Lang(Mr.T),who keeps making challanges,that pretty much force Rocky back into boxing.This time Rocky's trainer Mickey dies,and Apollo Creed steps up to help Rocky train,so he can be prepared when he has to step up to face Clubber Lang.Naturally we know who is going to win in the end.Also,Eye of Tiger,awesome song for this movie.Rocky III is the most fun of the Rocky films.

Summary: Eye of the Tiger
Review: Another great Rocky movie which shows that Sylvester can act as well as direct. The movie is chock full of drama, humor and very fast paced action in the ring.
Rocky III was also a stepping stone I believe for the acting career of Mr. T (I think A-team came later), and introduced much of America to Hulk Hogan. My being in the midwest, I saw Rocky III well before I started watching Wrestling, and knew Hogan as the guy from Rocky III.

Rocky III also provides a very heart pounding "Eye of the Tiger"
which still rocks today. It's the in your face reality of Rocky being on top of the world to see the rug pulled from under his feet, pretty much give up, then raise his fists to fight the good fight and learn resolve which is a grand inspiration for the viewer. Don't miss the Rocky movies, they're all great!

Summary: Uh-oh....bad sequel alert!
Review: Ever notice how Rocky 1 and 2 are 2 hours long then Rocky 3,4, and 5 barely scrape 90 minutes? Could it be that there is nothing to say? This is where Stallone spends more time getting other people (Hulk Hogan, Mr. T) noticed for their own futures. This movie lacks any real passion and the fight sequences are bad. the whole "eye of the tiger" thing is very funny indeed. Sure, Mr. T, hit me with all you've got. I have the eye of the tiger and feel no pain now. Laughable.

Summary: A Rocky Music Video!
Review: Eye of the Tiger(as performed by Survivor) blares on the opening soundtrack as we see Rocky's career taking off.The original human drama is lost in a wash of MTV like sequences and Hulk Hogan!By this time, the Rocky saga had taked a dive into the campy pop & bubble gum. Very silly, but for some reason it works as good entertainment quite possibly because by 1982 Rocky had become such a pop-icon.Followed by ROCKY IV.

Review: I haven't seen all the Rocky movies yet, so I can't really say which one is my favorite, but I know one thing, "Rocky III" is GREAT! Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) returns once again to the boxing ring and he still has the Heavyweight Champion of The World title. He ponders retirement after the city he lives in makes a statue of him in his honor. However, a cocky, trash talking man named Clubber Lang (Mr. T) will do anything to fight Rocky and become the new Heavyweight Champion of The World. Rocky Balboa will accept the challenge and make the fight with Clubber Lang his final fight before retirement, but Clubber Lang might be a tougher opponent than anybody suspects. So it won't be easy at all.

"Rocky III" is a great movie in every way. As usual, it has great acting with Sylvester Stallone playing the leading role. And it also has a star-studded lineup that most people will already know as Rocky Balboa's challengers, including Hulk Hogan and the man who made A-Team a major hit back in the 80's, Mr. T. If you like action packed movies, especially boxing ones, or if you liked the other Rocky movies, I definitely recommend getting "Rocky III."

Summary: Aye-Aye-Aye!
Review: I just don't know what's wrong with me sometimes. Basically, ROCKY III is just another version of its predecessors and successors right down to the training montages, fight scenes, 'snappy' patter, marital strife, and Paulie still being a curmudgeonly-yet-somewhat-loveable screw-up. But, for some reason, this particular outing is my fave out of the entire run.

It could be because III's one of those quintessential 80s-Look-And-Feel flicks which takes me back to my childhood days of watching THE A-TEAM (Mr. T's big break after his debut here), pro wrestling (the Hulkster also makes his first movie appearance here), and MTv (the music-video-style opening sequence featuring Survivor's 'Eye of The Tiger'). It could also be because watching the ROCKY flicks have pretty much ruined me for real boxing. The real deal doesn't have nearly as many devastating punches and amazing comebacks per bout as Balboa's amazing matches do. Still, there are a few parts in the Rocky-Clubber fights where it's pretty apparent that some of the punches don't really connect. Looks like Sly got a bit sloppy with the choreography in this one! But, let's not forget the new angle: the killing off of a beloved supporting character! Which, sadly, became a not-so-new-angle when they did it again in ROCKY IV. Um, with a different supporting character, that is. Just making sure you're paying attention...

Then there's my little quirk regarding movie sequels that end in Roman numerals. I've got this weird thing where I spell out the letters, rather than their digital renditions. For example, instaed of saying "Rocky Three", I'll say "Rocky I-I-I (aye-aye-aye)". It just sounds neat in a goofy way to me. It's kinda like I'm practicin' my mock British for the next 'Monty Python' con, you know? As you can imagine, my buds find my- um, problem- rather bothersome when we're watching the Super Bowl together!

Actually, I might never know why I like this one the most out of the series. Whatever the reason is for my ultimate enjoyment of ROCKY III, it's always on the top of the video pile when I hold my annual household Sly movie marathon- right before 'Tango & Cash', no less!
