Review: Okay, this movie wasn't at all what I expected... I guess when I rented it, I expected some sort of Spice world rip off, but I was WRONG!!! The movie was soooo touching and okay, a bit corny, but its a teen romance. What did you expect?
Mandy Moore did a excellent job, as Jamie, A dowdy minister's daughter, whose morals and beliefs conflict with today's society... Shane West, did a wonderful job as Landon, the typical highschool bad (guy)... Who's heart and attitude change after a few choice encounters with Jamie.. The two had really good chemistry which suprised me because you see so many movies where the two actors just don't "click" And the the scene stealer award had to go to Al Thompson, who played Eric... That guy was so funny! This movie is 5 stars all the way!!!

Review: Book vs. Movie:
- Timeframe in the book is 1958 vs. present day in the movie.
- Jamie (main character/minister's daughter) has more faith in the book whereas the movie lightened the load and focused more on her moral values.
- Whole scenes were added to the movie that never existed in the book. More action and present day situations associated with the adjusted timeframe.
- Whole scenes in the book never appeared in the movie. Lots of introspection and dialog missing too.
- In the book they walked everywhere vs. the movie they all had cars.Pro:
- The basic plot of teen Christian girl (Jamie) meets boy (Landon) is still there as well as the basic overall personality characteristics the author tried to convey to the reader. Con:
- Anyone looking for a video version of the book will be disappointed. The heart of the tale is there, but it's a completely different animal. Overall:
Knowing Harry Potter is probably one of the only books to ever survive the big screen scissors, I watched this with an open mind. In a nutshell, I really liked it. It is clear the changes made were to make this movie much more identifiable by today's audience. I hope this film's success becomes contagious and our society reconsiders what is truly valuable and worthy. Truly great people are remembered for how they affected those in their lives, not for how much cash they flash or the amount of skin they expose. Amazon.com ratings scale: 5 stars = Outstanding

Summary: The Best PG-Rated Romance
Review: It is hard to make a PG-rated romance, because you can't simply use sex scenes to show the feelings which the couple has for each other and to imply the degree of intimacy in the relationship. You can't paint with such broad strokes. Instead, you must use a narrower brush to depict all the small but significant things which bring the two closer together. It is also hard to make a movie reflecting traditional Christian values, especially a romance, and yet appeal to a wide audience. It is problematic to communicate beliefs without being preachy, the only solution being to show through examples rather than to tell through sermons. A Walk to Remember succeeds in both endeavors and is in my opinion both the best PG-rated romance as well as the closest thing to a Christian film (in mainstream media) in recent memory. It is truly a breakthrough event. The characters are well-developed, the acting is superb (this is pop singer Mandy Moore's debut BTW), the pacing and picture is perfect, and the soundtrack is great. But it's the story based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks which will be most remembered. A note to prospective viewers who may have some misconceptions concerning this film: This is not a superficial teen romance, nor is it a feel-good romantic comedy. It is a romance in the classical sense of the word, a serious exploration of the emotional journey experienced by two young people who are truly and deeply in love. Although the stereotypical target audience for this movie may consist of teenage girls from the Bible belt, I am none of the above. For starters, I am a guy who is not generally into "chick flicks." Of the DVD's in my top twenty collection, only two or three could qualify as such while the rest consist of such "manly fare" as "The Matrix," "Platoon," and "A Better Tomorrow II." Additionally, although I am a Christian, I generally stay away from so-called "Christian music" and "Christian movies" because frankly much of it ... and I suspect that the reason it is labelled or marketted as such is to get people to buy it just because it's "Christian." I like to consider myself as having some independence and objectivity in my assessment of artistic merit. However, this also means not having a negative bias just because the subject of a movie happens to be a good person, a spiritual person from a Christian background, the minister's daughter. Anyway, I appreciated this movie tremendously even though I am not part of the "target audience" and I believe that I am not alone. I gave this movie a chance initially because I was seeking diversity and a degree of balance in my DVD collection and I recommend that you all do the same.

Summary: A Classic Case of Missing the Point
Review: I saw A Walk to Remember after reading the book. The book was quite sweet. It was set in the 50s, which fit the wholesome quality of the characters and theme. The movie, however, attempted to contemporize the story, which turned it into a sappy, unrealistic tale. Key elements of the book were changed just to showcase Mandy Moore's singing, which destroyed much of the storyline's credibility. Also, while the book leaves the ending a bit mysterious, the movie chose to directly stamp out any ambiguity about the fate of Jamie.
I really reflected upon this, and I feel I would have hated this movie even if I hadn't read the book. It was too cloyingly sweet, and basically pointless. Don't waste your money buying it or renting it... if you must see it, get it from your local library. And prepare to be disgusted. By the way, I tried to give it no stars, but the website wouldn't accept that. So I give it one star under protest!

Summary: A Walk to Remember
Review: A Walk to Remember is a great movie with excellent plot, character development, and acting. Shane West and Mandy Moore star in this film, portraying the life of two teen lovers journeying with each other on the road of life. West plays the role of Landon Carter, Moore plays as the seemingly ethereal Jamie, the daughter of a Baptist preacher. Landon and Jamie eventually become close friends, and both realize they are in love with each other. After the marriage of Landon Carter and Jamie, the film ends on both a sweet and sad tone. I also enjoy the soundtrack to this film. The music is part of what makes this film great, besides the well-developed storyline and development of characters.

Summary: A Walk to Forget
Review: When I first heard about this movie I was excited. It looked like a really good movie, which I saw from the trailers. When I found out that it would come out on DVD I was so excited to finally see it. I rented it. I was so, so disappointed after I watched the movie. I knew that this movie was going to be a tearjerker/chick flick/comedy/romance. The movie starts out pretty well where the usual recipe for a teeny bopper movie (and believe me it is a teeny bopper movie).... popular boy falls for unpopular girl. I won't spoil what happens, but it is a really predictable movie. It is so pathetic it's funny. I know your probably thinking this reviewer is so not emotional. But I am the one who is crying when I see some sad movies. The movie was so, so darn unreal. It would have been a great romance. But I could never see this happening in real life. The popular boy will leave all of his popular friends just so he can be with her. C'mon I like movies that have to do slightly with real life. If you are thinking of buying this movie my advice would be to rent it first!

Summary: Definitely a Movie to Remember!
Review: I have to admit that I was unable to see the movie when it premiered in the theaters earlier this year but after buying the DVD version of the movie, I can honestly say that it was definitely worth the wait! The way that Shane West and Mandy Moore bring their characters to life is quite exceptional! You can see the transformation that Landon Carter goes through from being a popular, rebellious and confused individual into a loving, devoted and caring person. He learns to love another person more than himself, even at the cost of his friendships. It is nice to see that even though the movie is pretty much geered toward the teenage crowd, that an adult such as myself, would actually love this movie as much as I do! - I have to say that this movie is definitely one of my all-time favorite movies! I welcome any movie that deals with the subject of unconditional love. - A love that goes way deeper than just the inner surfaces of the heart. This movie was brilliantly made and I highly recommend it to anyone that believes that there aren't any people left in this world that would do the things that Landon did for Jamie during their short time together. - This movie is much more than a teenage "chick flick". If you love and are loved, you will sense a special feeling towards this movie and learn to love and appreciate it as much as I do! To Shane West, Mandy Moore and Director Adam Shankman, thank you so much for the brilliant movie and a job well done! - Encore!

Review: When i watched a walk to remember, i couldn't believe how good mandy moore did. shane west, too, was very good. i have seen mandy moore in the princess diaries, and shane west in whatever it takes, but they were both much better in a walk to remember. i think that this movie definitely deserves the 5 stars i gave it!!
