Review: For a lot of people seeing a movie about divorce, especially with children involved, can be very confronting. Seeing 'Kramer vs Kramer' was the worst/best movie I have seen about this subject. There are so many people in the world today that live alone with a child are a child of divorced parents. Same for me.

Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep are married but she decided to leave him because he is so into his work that he sometimes forgets about her. She was a former graphic artist like him but gave it up when their baby Billy came. Without even taking a suitcase she leaves him and Billy alone. The movie is about how the father and son have a hard time getting along in the beginning but come closer and closer as the movie progresses. He does have to leave his job because he cannot do it as well as he did because he has to take care of Billy now.

In the end she wants Billy back and starts a court case for custody which she wins, though she does not deserve it. Hoffmann is a great father and spends a lot of time with him, but the courts are strange sometimes.

What will happen remains unclear, the last scene is multi-interpretable.

As I said before as a child of divorced parents this movie was sometimes hard to watch and that is what makes it so good, its reality. Hoffman is amazing and deservedly won an oscar for this role as Billy's dad. The young boy also has a great role because he shows what it is like.

If you are divorcing and have children, watch this movie, it might lead you to a less selfish decision.

Summary: Meryl Streep first Academy Award Win
Review: I am writing this review since I am a big Meryl Streep fan. I had never since this movie complete and since I just bought her AFI Tribute package, so I started with this one, an must-see for every Meryl Streep fan.
The movie basicly is a Family Drama in which Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman) is left with his 6-year old son (Justin Henry) by his wife Joanna (Meryl Streep) because she feels that something is missing in her life and she feels trap.
The performances are great and you can feel both parents' love for the child and somehow you are torn trying to understand Joanna (how she can left her child but also how she felt lost).
This movie won 5 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor (Hoffman) and Best Supporting Acctress (Streep, includes a nice Documentary about the movie that includes insights from the Director, Producers and Cast, a must-have for any Streep, Hoffman or Family Drama fans.

Review: I could watch this movie a million times and never get bored because everything is so real. The acting is flawless; so flawless that it doesn't even appear that they are acting. Dustin Hoffman is simply a joy in this movie. He's superb, and the love that grows between him (Ted) and his son (Billy) is so moving and sincere. It's just as powerful, if not more, than any romantic storyline out there in the movies. This is love. A love between a boy and his father. It's deep love. The type of man which Ted grows to be is a beautiful human being, and this is all due to love. He becomes a perfect role model for what a parent should be. Hoffman is excellent. The boy actor is perfect. Another reason why I like this film is because it shows that a person is capable of change, afterall. If you're moved by great actors and real storylines, then watch this film!

Summary: Extraordinary Movie!
Review: I first saw this movie in Manhattan the week it was released. Watching this two-hour masterpiece felt like 10 minutes. I was completely riveted to the screen. The last movie I experienced like that was "Schindler's List".

Kramer vs. Kramer is a must-see movie. I'll admit it loses a little bit on the smaller TV screen (just about all movies do). If possible, view it on a large screen TV (at least 34") and pump the audio through hi-fi speakers or headphones. If you are under 40, the movie may seem a bit dated to you but the basic emotions will touch you deeply. If, like me, you are closer to retirement years than you are to college years, then you'll enjoy this film for the classic that it is.

Summary: Fine acting .... BUT
Review: I had only seen snippets of this movie over the years. I bought it on DVD the other day and the latest version of it includes a 50 min documentary (worth having for that alone). So, I watched the movie, enjoyed the acting, but wondered how it even won a single oscar, let alone five! Ok, this is where it is important to remember that it was made in 1979 where divorce battles were very much highlighted, and women's careers were just starting to take off. The film is also quite short, and I imagine that if it was made today, it would be much longer - particularly the courtroom scenes which are very short in the movie. The title to me indicates a battle between husband and wife, but I found Meryl Streep to be tame and accommodating. I love Dustin Hoffman in any movie, so pleased to own it for that reason - I might add that in parts he reminded me of his role in Tootsie. To finish off, I would have to say that there are some classic scenes in the movie, but I still believe it is a highly over-rated film. People must have been easy to please back in 1979, because this is more of a 'Made-for-TV' movie in my opinion. Only buy it if you see it on sale.

Review: I have this on VHS, so I was really looking forward to getting this title on DVD. It was a let-down! The Video was fair, the audio could have been remastered for 5.1! It is still a must for collection

Summary: What a great and touching film. . .
Review: I recently saw this movie after being recommended by Amazon, and boy am I glad I did. I thought the movie would be depressing, being about divorce and child custody, and it is sad, but the story about this man who suddenly finds himself raising his child alone was really touching. Dustin Hoffman gives a stellar performance (this and The Graduate pretty much seals it for me that he's one of the best things that came out of the 70s). Meryl Streep is good also, but I don't think her role was significant enough to have garnered an Oscar nomination. This is a must-see classic film, truly deserving of the praise that's been lavished upon it.

Summary: A Pretty Funny Movie
Review: I watched Kramer vs. Kramer and came away laughing during most of the movie.
I have never seen people take themselves so seriously, trapped in a land of esoteric garble.

Hoffman's character, Ted, needs to grow some balls, and learn how to make coffee, as he is over the age of 40. Streep's character needs to refill her Prozac script and start reading Sylvia Plath, maybe that would make her somewhat interesting.

The most hilarious line was in the coutroom when Streep's character said:

" Ted was unable to deal with my feelings and this lowered my self-esteem. I've worked very hard to be a whole human being. And I don't think I should be punished for that."

Woe is me! How is this idiotic woman being punished! Being forced to move from the Upper West side to the Upper East side or maybe the real punishment was switching from Espresso to Maxwell House coffee?
Oh, The Humanity of it ALL!!!!

And the child doesn't need his parents: he needs six to ten years of special ed.

Review: i'll never forget this film cuz that was the year my folks split up.and i read the book as well.but the film touched on alot of difficult subject matters.Dustin Hoffman&Meryl Streep give great performances.it holds up after all of these years.
