Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Favor Review: This movie gives us a reason to keep trying to make this world a better place to live. If we all could REALLY TRY I believe that we could all make this a better place to live. In this movie we see all the dreams of our child hood come alive, we want the world to be perfect for everyone and this movie brings back such good feelings. A MUST SEE MOVIE. I believe that you will all see a little of yourself in this movie. Best movie Ive seen since The Green Mile. All we have to do is BELIEVE IN ONE ANOTHER INSTEAD OF JUDGING. I believe that is what the movie is trying to say.*****
Rating: Summary: Desperate Attemp to Evoke Sympathy!!! Review: Having just watched this DVD, I got the impression that what was a very impressive cast have been bogged down with what is a below average script. The idea itself is pretty good, but having not read the actual book, I am unable to comment on my belief that the book is far better than the movie. Can anyone prove me right?? However, the movie drags on around the idea of the child, and the idea fails to create the feel good factor the movie wants it to. I believe any half decent cast could have played the roles of the characters in this movie, and Spacey, Hunt, and Osment were going through the motions unable to spark a utter bore! The movie constantly fails to make the audience feel sympathy for the characters, and not even a last ditch attempt of an ending can evoke the kind of sympathy towards the main characters as everybody involved in the movie would have liked. While I am not dissuading anybody from buying the DVD, as I know opinion differs, I am just warning you not to end the movie feeling you have watched one of the all time classics!!
Rating: Summary: Kinda Drags Review: I felt that had a few scenes been cut to get a shorter running time this film would have been better, but it seems to drag along and by the time you get to the end you're really depressed, (but maybe that's how the film is intended to be).
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: This movie was ok, not great, but ok (maybe 3 stars), until the end. The end was terrible. First what happens to the main character. Then the whole stupid part with the candles--is she supposed to feel all better now because people are standing outside her house with candles? I don't think so. I know people in the theatre with me thought it was really poignant, but I thought they just tacked on a depressing ending to make it seem more weighty. If you don't like sappy, maudlin movies, definitely pass on this one.
Rating: Summary: The best movie I have ever seen Review: This is undoubtedly the best movie ever. Kevin Spacey is terrific. Haley Joel Osment("The Sixth Sense") gives a great performance as well. Tell me, how many people would love to get a brand-new Jaguar for absolutely NOTHING?
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Review: I really liked this movie, and Pay It Foreward meant to help people and it had a great message yeah the ending is sad I won't say anything overall, Helen's performance was great Kevin did a good job playing a teacher and Haley is good his recent 'Sixth Sense' was good his next movie A.I. looks good watch Pay It Foreward you will like this trust me ....
Rating: Summary: Interesting premise Review: Kevin Spacey is a social studies teacher who gives his students the assignment of doing something to change the world. One of his students, played by Haley Joel Osment, comes up with the idea of doing a good deed for 3 people and then asking them to do the same to 3 more people. Osment's goodness and insight play a counterpoint to his mother, played by Helen Hunt, who is depicted as very dysfunctional at the beginning of the movie. She very conveniently becomes a loving, caring person during the course of the movie, without much reason as to why. Spacey is fighting his own demons which are revealed during the course of the movie. Osment's father is a very one-dimensional bad guy who also nicely fits into the plot. The original premise of the movie is an interesting one and could have been expanded into a very uplifting and entertaining movie. Instead, there is a lot of darkness in the adult characters which detracts from the movie. Osment's character is wonderful and he shows up his elders with his superb acting. The movie left me feeling vaguely dissatisfied.
Rating: Summary: what a shocking letdown! Review: This movie was wonderful up until the last 10 minutes, then the entire movie was RUINED by the ending. It had an opportunity to be a feel good, "things can work out" movie but when the little boy was murdered it made you feel lousy. As my son said, "well, it was just like the real world is, things don't work out in the end most of the time." How depressing. I have never been so disappointed and angry, it was as if I had been hit in the stomach at the end. I will never watch it again. Sometimes movies should make us feel good about life, should give us hope that people can make a difference without having to suffer for it personally and this movie missed a chance to do just that. I felt the same about "Sommersby" and have never watched it again either. You expect this kind of ending from some movies and are prepared for it, but there was no reason for this movie to end like this. I have told all my friends and relatives about it and how it ends and that they should not buy or watch it. I can't say enough about how strongly I felt and how disappointed I was.
Rating: Summary: It's NOT a feel good movie..... Review: Again, a fine film undeservedly trashed by ""critics."" It's not a "feel good" movie, and as near as I could tell, wasn't intended to be (although it does have it's moments). Nor was the surprise ending put there just for shock value or to bring you down. The point was that life juat ain't that simple.
