Summary: Get the Soundtrack
Review: This movie is a little jewel. I want to add this to the reviews: Get the soundtrack. I found it as a cutout CD not too long after the movie came out, and I love that disc. It's all just the background music from the movie, wonderfully played by musicians David Grisman (mandolin), Dean Parks (guitar), Michael Fisher (percussion), James Newton Howard (piano), and Jay Rosen (violin). Each of those musicians is truly a legend in his own time. It is so incandencently beautiful you'll find listening to the music as personally and emotionally engaging as watching the film.Nice, acoustic music, it's, as I said, the background music from the film--with titles like "First Kiss," "Dani Sees Court," and "End Titles." I didn't realize there were other fans of this movie out there who were affected as deeply as I was. Buy the movie, and hunt down the soundtrack. You'll be so glad you did.

Summary: A Decent Movie
Review: This was a good movie that essentially documented the coming-of-age of the 14 year old Dani. We start the movie seeing her as very child-like and wondering if she could possibly have a serious thought. However upon meeting Court, she matures quite rapidly. This is a great movie for parents of pre-teen and early teen daughters and understanding the thoughts they have towards the opposite sex. The movie presents Dani's transformation without it having much if any sexual scenes and not only shows her maturing physically in the sense of her now noticing boys, but also mentally through her understanding of her sister's pain. Also, this film nicely displays Court's inablility to recognize the change in Dani and displays his ignorance,as well as everybody else's, of Dani's maturation. The film does a good job with the father-daughter relationship in the sense that the father seems to recognize Dani's feelings while everybody else does not. This movie also nicely displays the sister to sister relationship. My only complaint in this movie is the mother character gets lost along with Court's family. I do not feel it adequetely explains why Court's fmaily comes back, nor does it attempt to bring out a mother-daughter relationship. In closing, this is a good film that helps one understand the psychology of early teens and makes us learn they are like mini-adults.

Review: I love this movie. The story is so touching and fills my heart with joy. This movie is watchable whatever the mood or circumstances. Acting is great and story is wonderful. I strongly advise this movie.

Summary: I love this movie
Review: This is, seriously, one of the most unknown best movies in the world. I saw this by chance in seventh grade when we were supposed to pick a movie to watch because our class was so good. We chose two movies, this and another one. I only watched this movie because the other movie didn't appeal to me. This was the first movie I had ever seen with Reese Witherspoon. She plays Dani, a young teenager who falls in love with Court, the son of an old friend of her mother and father. Her relationship with her sister Maureen is torn apart when Maureen and Court fall in love. This movie is so sad... have tissue ready.

Review: In describing The Man in the Moon, Roger Ebert frequently uses words such as 'purity' and 'perfection'...His review could not be more glowing, and could not be more appropriate. A beautiful story of coming-of-age, the film follows the emergence of Dani Trant (Reese Witherspoon) on her family farm in a small country town in the 1950s. Her relationship with the world, her closeness and the importance of family, are tested in this beautifully photographed tale. Whether male or female, 16-60, The Man in the Moon will carry you off in the way only a wonderful movie can...leaving you much the better for your having shared the vision of all the talented people involved with its creation.

Review: A simple warm movie, introducing probably one of the most talented actresses today. Reese Witherspoon is excellent! She stars as Dani who discovers what love is for the first time in this warm, moving little nugget. Definitely one of those rainy day movies. I would recommend it to younger viewers as well, my 4-year old absolutely loves it.

Review: Man in the moon is a tale of a girl who is coming of age. The movie has great chemistry between London and Witherspoon. They are a gorgeous couple and make the movie come to life. It draws you in with its charm and beautiful romance. Overall, it is one of the greatest movies I have seen. I strongly recommend this movie to all.

Summary: Man In The Moon... It'll keep you up past your bedtime.
Review: A chick flick, definately. As a male senior in high school, I saw this film the year after it was released in the theaters. As a college grad and working man today, it has become one of the few movies I will honestly be open and share with others as being one of the great movies I have seen in my short life. Reese Witherspoon does an amazing job playing the role of Dani, and watching her as a young woman can only make you laugh as you compare her with her acting now. (I have never seen eyes so cold as I did in this film at a few points) No matter how many times I have seen this film, I continually grow to hate the older sister every time, and can't help the depression I feel every time I watch. The acting is true, honest, and not forced. There is no reason why a DVD version would be better then VHS, but I sincerely hope that someday, this will be created on DVD format. I will gladly pay the money to be able to add this amazing film to my collection.

Review: As he did with To Kill A Mockingbird, which is oe of the most eloquent and moving coming-of-age movies ever made, director Richard Mulligan again paints a subtle and heartbreaking portrait of a young girl growing up. This film takes you by surprise, and engages you in a candid, fresh and charming way. Reese Witherspoon is guileless, and perfect as the heroine; Sam Waterston, in his usual well-crafted way, gives the father a gravity, dignity and grace that Atticus Finch, the lawyer father in Mockingbird, would be proud of. The love story, which provides the film its core plot, tenderly examines from nearly every viewpoint -- familial and otherwise -- the joys and heartaches of that first rush of emotion that overtakes us all at some point in our youth. The watering-hole sequences have such a simple yet intense quality that you are transported back to your own fumblings with affection and those crushes that crippled your vision of the world for as long as they lasted. This movie deserved a much wider audience when it first appeared, but I have kind of loved the fact that it remains one of those special gifts you can give that will continue to give once its viewer takes the time to unlock its secrets. I have introduced this movie to countless friends and family, and no one -- and I do mean no one -- has not loved every minute.

Review: Wow. I have seen a lot of coming-of-age movies, but I have to say, this one just about tops them all! It's very endearing, but it's a tearjerker, too. It was wonderfully true to life, and the characters were beautifully portrayed. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen. Make sure you check this one out. -Katie
