Summary: DEFINITALLY read the book first!
Review: What can I say? This movie was absolutely horrible compared to the book. I have read many books and seen the movies based on them, and I am usually at least a little dissapointed with the movie, but there is no excuse for this one, it was horrible.

A Walk to Remember was written by Nicholas Sparks, whom I consider the best romance author there is. The book was terrific, it was the first book ever to make me cry. It is such a great story of young love. The book makes the characters seem as if they are deeper in love, where the movie sort of just rushes the relationship and doesn't really show how they fell in love. I like the book better because Landon doesn't care what his friends think about Jamie, he is strong and loves her because of who she is. He is also not a Bada** despite the fact that the movie decided to portray him this way. The movie was also set in current times where book took place a long time ago. The relationship between Landon and Jamie is developed far better in the book, than in the movie. I highly suggest that if you haven't seen this movie yet, to read the book first. It will be a much better experience for you. If you are not really a reader, the book is short and easy to read and I bet it will be hard for you to stop reading it once you start.

Summary: The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen
Review: I have seen some pretty bad movies in my day (I say this as a proud viewer of all 3 Scary Movies and American Pies), but a Walk to Remember takes the cake. My good friend rented this catatrosphe claiming there "was nothing better at the store" (What the Pokemon movie was out again?). I find this impossible and still hold this against her for subjecting me to possibly the most heinous 90 minutes of my life.

I found myself laughing my way through this "drama/love story". The cliches keep rolling in this all out cheesefest. Landon, a bad boy (characterized by leather jacket), at his private school and his Christian "gang" of (i think i recall) 3 other people constantly make fun of the unpopular girl, Jamie because she wears an ugly sweater and has brown hair in a ponytail. And than they fall in love. Wow, like that story has never been told. Oh yeah, but first her dad doesn't agree with their relationship, people think Landon is uncool for liking the uncool girl, she gets cancer, she has a list, she completes list, she dies. The end. The only twist is she keeps the ponytail.

The real quencher comes at the end with the dad getting all predictable and gushy with Landon. All in all, while watching the movie I truly believed the movie could get no worse and for this I paid the ultimate price- it did. Within the first five minutes I had accuratly predicted the end and that is the saddest part. The only thing that kept me watching was my curiosity at why this movie was allowed to me made. A question I never got an answer to. So, I am begging you America, save your $17 to feed a hungry child or if you ever see it on sale at Walmart for $2.50 (if there is a God, it can't be long now), send it anonymously to your biggest enemy.

Summary: Surprisingly Sensitive and Touching Love Story
Review: This movie is spectacular!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of love stories....just be sure and bring a box of tissues. The only minor criticism I have of the movie is that I thought the teenagers were a little too crude and obnoxious....this could have been played down a little bit. Luckily, this tapered off within the first 20 - 30 minutes and then evolved into a beautiful story. It's almost as if the first few scenes don't fit with the rest of the movie. Case in point....there was a scene where one of Landon's friends was reading lines with him and he suddenly began making obscene sexual gestures....was this really necessary? Also, I think the movie may have been even more beautiful if they had kept the setting the same as it was is the novel...1958 rather than current day.

Summary: A beautiful love story that really touched my heart
Review: Honestly, this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The whole cast was amazing. I must admit I cried for a long time, even afterwards! Love the music too, especially when Mandy Moore or Jamie Sullivan sings in the springplay. I think some people will find this movie pretty lame, mostly guys. But I still recommend you to see it, it really really touched my heart. The transformation of Landon Carter is very realistic, well done by Shane West! It's good that Jamie Sullivan is so confident and don't care about what other people will think of her! I won't give it away, but when I heard the "secret" of Jamie Sullivan, the tears was just streaming!
I truly love this movie, and I beg you to see it!

Summary: SYRUPY MARATHON OF CLICHES
Review: Hard to believe what a director can do with a perfectly decent novel. Nicholas Spark's book of the same name was rendered so shamelessly into a teen weepie that looks like a research effort on all the teen movies of the 90s; it probably has the about a hundred scenes swiped from them to show for itself.

Think Love Story, Carrie, the Grease series, etc etc, perhaps all of the names you can think of contributed heavily to this sachharine drivel about a guy and a girl who start out oh-so-at-odds with each other in high school (she's a nerdy choir girl and he a prankster dude, but of course tides turn) and then perfectly predictable events ensue.

To its minor credit, the film at least keeps away from typical teen movie gags and goes about its business with a predictable rhythm. It's probably a decent date movie, but not something you'd enjoy too much if you're over 20 (mentally).

Summary: I hate love stories...
Review: I'm giving this movie 1 star because I hate love stories. They're just about some hippies who fall in love and show off. I mean, who really cares? Not me. I also think that Mandy (...) looks stupid with black hair. The plot is stupid as well. Ooh, a girl who's misunderstood finds love. To me, love is nothing but crap. I hate seeing couples walking around and touching each other like some damn hippies. I hope Mandy Moore and that one douchebag guy both get fired by the industry and cook me up some fries and a whopper at burger king. At least then, they'd be making something I enjoy. Food is good.

Summary: Inspirational
Review: I don't usually watch romance movies, I'm not much of a teen movie watcher either, but this is not like other teen movies. It doesn't have any sex, no stupid or rude jokes, it does have some swearing, but not anywhere near as much as most teen movies. I don't usually like the soundtrack in teen movies, hate rap music, but this soundtrack is great with some very good songs by Mandy Moore and Switchfoot that are played at the exact right moments in the film. The movie is a truly inspirational film about young love crossing all boundries and enduring to the end. Very well acted by the entire cast, especially the lead characters played by Mandy Moore and Shane West. Hopefully we will see much more of them in the future. There are some very moving scenes and some great backgroung scenery. I admit I cried during this movie more than once and I am a 40+ year old male, a must see.
