Summary: Sweet, sad, and true.
Review: Well, this is a hard one. the film was so touching I cried, and I never cry at films. My only problem is a little one--why didn't they develop Johnny & "Becky"'s relationship more? Anyway, good job all round. Depp--well, I needn't say. Just think of the one phone call and I don't have to tell you my thoughts right now. Hehe....

Summary: Stunning Performances
Review: This was Leo Di Caprio's breakthrough performance. The first time I saw this film in theaters, I unknowlingly thought Di Caprio was actually an actor with a mental disability. He was so convincing -- facial expressions, body movements, diction, all came together in his Oscar nominated role.

Johnny Depp is superb as Gilbert as is Juliett Lewis who plays a kindhearted friend who travels through the dusty one-horse town, an angel of sorts, who brings hope and love to the distraught family.

This memorable movie is great for all ages!

Summary: Masterful performances
Review: Ignore the mindless hordes who like to trash actors just because they're popular, or pretty, or whatever. Johnny Depp is one of the finest actors of his generation and Di Caprio's portrayal of the retarded teen Arnie here won him a well deserved Oscar nomination and shows that his acting in "This Boy's Life" was not a fluke. This is a powerful, moving film that makes statements about several topics including small town life and finding your own happiness.

Summary: My Favorite
Review: I saw this movie 8 times and it gets better everytime! The acting is excellent and the story is moving. "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" is honest and real, and I'm sure many will be able to relate to it. I also recommend the book.

Summary: A wonderful film
Review: What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a perfectly directed film. The acting, lighting, and cinematography are both beautiful and naturalistic. Johnny Depp gives yet another understated performance while Leonardo Di Carpio is simply stunning as Gilbert's mentally-handicapped brother.

The film is funny, sad, and poignant. It tells a simple story conveying the title character's sense of frustration and feeling of being left behind while everyone else's life moves forward. It's truly a timeless movie that will reward your patience. It's one of my top 5 films of all time.

Review: I loved this movie to pieces. It was wonderful! I thought it was mean when all those people laughed at the mother.I thought some parts were really funny.I thought Leo DiCaprio did a great job playing Arnie.I realize that must have been an extremely hard character to play.I couldn't believe it when Gilbert hit Arnie.THIS MOVIE WAS WONDERFUL!THIS MOVIE DESERVES MORE THAN 5 STARS!IT DESERVES 10 STARS!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very well written story and well acted!
Review: This became one of my favourite movies of all time! I'm planning on buying this movie. Even though Johnny Depp is an "A" hole in real life he still does a great performance and heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio is believable as a mentally challenged 18 year old who should've gotten the Oscar award. A nice look at the southern country with a great supporting cast!
