Summary: THIS IS KINDA DUMB
Review: A CONVICT [VAN DAMME] ON HIS WAY TO JAIL, ESCAPES WITH THE HELP OF HIS BEST FRIEND. SOON, HE MEETS A WOMAN [ROSANNA ARQUETTE] AND HE TRYS TO HELP SAVE HER LAND. THIS MOVIE DEFINITELY DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH EXCITEMENT AND IT SEEMS TO RUN OUT OF STEAM PRETTY EARLY. MOST OF THE ACTION IS BORING TO WATCH AND THE STORY IS WEAK. DIEHARD FANS OF VAN DAMME SHOULD LIKE THIS A LOT. OTHERS, BEWARE.

Summary: Not bad at all !
Review: First of all, there are not many action scenes so if you expect a lot of fighting you will be disappointed. But it does have something that rarely appear in Van Damme's flick, a love scene and a good one with the lovely Rosanna Arquette. Also featured Ted Levine (Buffalo Bill from Silence of the lambs) as main bad guy. Basically it is a standard Van Damme action flick with extra bonus, Rosanna Arquette. The DVD is OK. Good picture quality and Dolby surround 2.0 is fine.

Summary: I Agree
Review: I agree with Tom Keogh's opinion that this is not Claude's best -- but it is entertaining. I also agree that Time Cop is his best (which ties with Sudden Death), but Universal has not made "Time Cop" and "Sudden Death" available in widescreen as it appears on my laser copies. When are they going to get with it?

Summary: Only one reason
Review: I bought a copy of NTR for one reason and one reason only: a single scene near the beginning, prominently featuring Rosanna Arquette. This was the same reason I bought a copy of "The Wrong Man", starring John Lithgow and - Rosanna Arquette. Discretion prevents my explaining further. Other than the scene already mentioned, I found the movie pretty worthless.

Summary: One of Van Damme's worst...
Review: I'm a huge fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme. Heck, I own all his movies! Sadly, that includes this one, which I saw a couple days ago and am still recovering from. It's not as bad as "Cyborg." It's not even close to that level of badness, but it is definitely not worth paying for. The biggest reason this just isn't very good is that our hero is an escaped convict. Now, we get the feeling he was doing more than your average prisoner to get sent to a maximum security prison, probably like the one in "Death Warrant," another JCVD movie that is worse than this. "Nowhere to Run" begins with his daring getaway which is actually kind of cool, but then gets a little creepy when our "hero" befriends a small boy. Soon, he's hanging around his house and protecting the boy's family from rich evildoers who couldn't and don't stand a chance against Van Damme. The movie's lame, predictable, and at times tasteless. There are gratuitous nudity scenes abound, one including two children talking to Van Damme while he's bathing in a river. The action is spread far apart from itself as the screenwriters obviously became more concerned with the story, probably because they realized there was little action to fill the gaps where talking occurred. Sure, Van Damme has done much, much worse. But that's not to say this movie is a keeper. At best, it feels like your average Steven Seagal flick, a shame since Van Damme is clearly a much better actor than the pony-tailed giant. This said, I'd still throw it at the bottom of the barrel with other Chuck Norris/Steven Seagal/early Van Damme flicks.

Summary: the best and most realistic van damme movie
Review: I'm so glad they made a more realistic van damme movie. I was getting so tired of all this movies where he does all these flying spining dodo kicks which are either repeated a dozen times or are in slow motion. He also didn't hit the final bad guy 500 times or shoot him 7 times to beat him. There was actually some rolling around, grappling, and punching on the ground, which your more likely to see in real life then somebody spin kicking a guy a dozen times. They also didn't overdo showing to many action scenes like in double impact (which is still an awesome movie), but this one was more believable. I don't know why so many people kept saying he did a lot of fancy high kicks in this movie. He didn't, but he still pulled off a variety of fancy moves while managing not to overdo them. I would tell you more but I'd end up giving the whole movie away. This is a must for van damme fans or any action or movie buff.

Summary: Good movie
Review: In "Nowhere To Run," Jean-Claude Van Damme plays as Sam, an escaped convict who ends up staying on a small farm with Clydie (Rosanna Arquette) and her two kids. However, he finds out that he has some new enemies while he's staying there, including a jealous cop and some men who are trying to take away the farm that Clydie and her two kids live on.

I recommend anybody who likes Van Damme movies to get "Nowhere To Run." If you aren't familiar with Van Damme's other movies, this would be a good movie to get to get you familiar. It doesn't have as much fighting in it as most of his other movies do, but it certainly doesn't lack in action. You'll see some great action sequences such as when Van Damme is trying to find a place to run from the police by riding a motorcycle. It has more drama than most of the other Van Damme movies, but it's still a good one.

Summary: Van Damme's greatest acting movie...
Review: Jean Claude Van Damme has brought so much to the action movie world that anyone who likes action films should thank him. This film is so different than any other one he's starred in.Van Damme plays a fugitive who escapes from prison thanks to his friend who should of been the real convict in prison anyway's.Van Damme runs off and hides on some farm land. The story line sounds corny I know but the film is relatively a great one.Rosanna Arquette co-stars in this good action/drama flick. With lots of raw action, superb acting and tons of romance this film is one of Van Dammes best.

Summary: Jean Claude van Damme is a 5!
Review: Jean Claude van Damme still had his rugged good looks and athletic prowess in this movie.

The script is silly and contrived, but hey, it's Jean Claude van Damme, not Willie Shakespeare. If you want script and plot, watch PBS. If you want action and good looks, then come to JCvD.

The memorable scenes are the dinner table discussion of Mr. van Damme's "John Thomas"; the bad guy mocking his accent, and Mr. van Damme in the shower. The flight of the fired bullet was a great effect.
