Rating: Summary: a small miracle of direction Review: Kevin Costner has never been and will probably never again be as good as he is in A Perfect World. Director Clint Eastwood is a magician to have gotten this performance out of an actor whose face almost totally lacks affect. A touching yet unsentimentalized little gem of a film, A Perfect World should be on any thoughtful movie lover's list of "perfects."
Rating: Summary: Costner Primary, Eastwood Seconary Review: Kevin Costner is the star of this watchable chase flick. Costner plays Butch a prison escapeè who kidnaps a child and takes to the road. Eastwood plays the Marshal sent to bring him in. Eastwood directed the watchable movie that changes the genre around. Usually the movie centres on the police, this one centres on the criminal who isas bad as he wants to be.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE FROM COSTNER Review: Kevin Costner turned up in his best role in years in this excellent drama of an escaped convict, serving time for a series of armed robberies who kidnaps a young boy and holds him hostage. Along the way the boy soon befriends Costner. This film remains tense and gripping throughout, holding many moments of suspense, The acting is great from a cast that also includes Clint Eastwood who also directed this movie. Its great to seee such two great actors together and its a pity they dont share any of their scenes together. There are some moments of comedy too giving this the balance it needs to be a good film. Very good scripts throughout the film and the ending is surprisingly quite moving. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: An excellent film with an excellent cast, but overlooked Review: Movies are supposed to dredge up human emotion, right? They're supposed to make you think, make you sad, make you afraid. This movie is about two lost souls, one an escaped con and one a little boy, and how they search for what little redemption there truly is in this life. It's a small peek at the somewhat dark underbelly of America and the small injustices so bravely faced there. At a glance (and probably the first viewing) this movie seems suprisingly simple. But in retrospect the degree of sincerity and level of complexity is staggering. This is a thinker but extremely good. Buy it. Rent it. Just watch it. You'll see.
Rating: Summary: I've never cried so hard. Review: My boyfriend says I have a heart of stone because I don't get all teary eyed over sappy movies. This movie is different. This movie and these characters were so endearing that it draws you into their world. People try to do the right thing and people make mistakes. Sometimes things just don't work out and the consequences are heart-breaking.
Rating: Summary: The best Clint Eastwood movie to date Review: Ok, maybe "the Good, the Bad, etc. ..." was a little better, but this ain't far cry from it. it is emotional, intelligent and funny at the same time. Not bad, ayh? Kevin Costner does his 2nd. best role ever. Laura Dern is also brilliant. Well-rewarding entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Below average, a few disturbances Review: OK...were to start. I didn't recommend this to my fiance and her sister to watch. The scene at the farmer's house before the ending was way too disturbing. It was unbelievable that the film-makers included several instances of child abuse and neglect near the end of the movie (the kid, Cleveland didn't seem to do anything wrong to deserve to be bashed like that by his father). The man played by Costner cared for his kidnapee, but had to be negligant at times to people to avoid being detained by the cops (i.e. stealing a Stationwagon from a family, allowing the kid to steal a costume from a store, being tyrannical enough to duct tape a family that gave them one day of "kind hospitality"). The movie had some decent moments to it, but it was too disturbing to watch. On the positive side...Clint Eastwood did a great role in the movie. I don't believe that Jehova's Witnesses is a true religon. I believe that Christianity is the only true religion.

Rating: Summary: A Profound Voyage into the Male Psyche Review: Other reviewers have written well regarding this movie, so I will simply add that I, a father of three boys, watch this film every father's day. It means alot to me for reasons that are hard to express. This film serves as a reminder that we often experience love and moments of grace in the most unlikely circumstances, and that kindred spirits can and do reach out to one another across seemingly impenetrable barriers. Do yourelf a favor and watch this film as soon as possible.
Rating: Summary: Over looked excellent drama. Review: Sad but up-lifting drama about an escaped convict who takes hostage a young boy. Costner is pursued by Texas Ranger Clint Eastwood , this isn't a cat and mouse film but a very up moving. Strong performances by Costner and Eastwood.
